HEALTH CARE, BARACK OBAMA AND AMERICA

In light of Barack Obama’s wish to expand our federal government, seemingly infinitely, I’d like to offer some thoughts about our HEALTH CARE system. Years ago, Ronald Reagan made this great statement that he lived by in his eight years as president: “Man is not free unless government is limited.” Our federal government does certain things well: We have the greatest military in the world; we have a great system for the making and enforcing of laws. But, as most Conservatives know deep in their hearts, our government is most effective and useful when its functions are limited. With this being the case, do we really want to hand over to them one of the largest industries in America (health care)? Even apart from the likelihood of potential mismanagement, the health care system is a business. It’s a business that works very well for millions in America. Certainly it’s not perfect, and there are flaws that need to be mended, but those flaws need to be worked out within the free market, not within government. Competition, supply and demand, and a big thing called Health Savings Accounts are the Big Picture answers to moving our health care system from ...

I received this in an email this morning, forwarded several times before it reached me. Seems to have originated from LTCPJAyres@aol.com On Tue, 1 Jul 2008 09:47:48 -0700 (PDT), Major Jerry Van Wagner, USA ret forwarded: Introduction: Welcome to Toastmasters, June 13, 2033. That's right: 2033. Today Rick Campbell, one of our senior members at age 87, is here to reminisce a bit and give us a history lesson. He says he is so old that he learned to drive an internal combustion engine car (remember those) with a manual transmission. He once owned a typewriter. He remembers when bicycles had only one speed, phones had two-party lines, and cameras had something called film. As incredible as this may seem, he says that when he was young, it was common for people to smoke in restaurants and public places. He is from a different time; almost a different world. I'm sure all of us are far too familiar with the tragic events of 2010, so Rick is not going to plow that fertile field again. Instead, he is going to give us a personal look back at the conditions which led up to that fateful year, in a speech titled ...

Stop calling Socialists and Communists Liberals

Can we all please stop referring to Socialists and Commies as Liberals. All of us here, know they stand against liberty but many of the electorate actually do not . The Left created the term Liberal to deceive voters just as every other label or bill they push such as the "Fairness Doctrine" We play into their trap by allowing them to dictate the terminology. Liberals are opposed to Liberty, Progressives are against progress, Democrats hate Democracy, and they are all the same Socialists and Communists. Although most people now use the term in the pejorative, millions still believe Liberals stand for Liberty. Many on the Left still proudly declare "I am a Liberal, I am for Liberty". Young people forming their political identity are easily duped by the Left's deceptive language and many citizens simply ignore politics as a result of the confusing and contradictory terminology. Confusion always translates into votes for the Left. We must be consistent and call them Socialists and Communists even if they start calling themselves the Fantastic party. We can have an impact right now on the edification of the newest voting block. When the FCC shuts down talk radio, will we call them the Liberal FCC? ...

Democrats Want to Socialize Oil, Healthcare Thursday, June 19, 2008 9:17 AM By: Lowell Ponte The presidential race this week came into focus, giving voters the sharpest choice since Ronald Reagan ousted the worst president in American history, Jimmy Carter. In the far left corner of this fight is Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, representing the modern Democratic Party. This is no longer the Democratic Party of patriots Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Harry Truman, and John F. Kennedy. Today’s Democratic Party has been taken over by radicals. As one of the heads of the extremist group MoveOn.org said of this once-great party, “We bought it. We own it.” Democratic leaders leave little doubt as to how far to the loony left their party has drifted. In late May, Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters of Los Angeles, grilling oil company executives in committee hearings, blurted out: “This liberal will be about socializing . . . uh, um . . .” She paused, perhaps noticing that she had let the Democratic Party’s mask slip, then continued: “would be about, basically, taking over, and the government running all of your companies.” On Wednesday this week Democratic congressional leaders held a press briefing to ...

http://www.articlev.com/repeal_the_17... REPEAL THE 17 TH AMENDMENT By John MacMullin After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the federal government announced that it would preempt all state jurisdiction over airport security. The federal government preempted state powers without regard to balancing federal and state responsibilities so that these responsibilities, and related costs, could be distributed across federal, state, and local governments. To carry out this preemption, the federal government recently reported that it will employ more than 47,000 federal recruits in the fight against terrorism as newly trained security screeners. They are to begin working at 424 airports nationwide. These developments, and numerous others in the past, remind us that there are no checks and balances available to the states over federal power or over Congress itself in any area. However, in the history of our country, it was not always this way. In the original design by the Framers of the U.S. Constitution, there was an effective check on Congress through the state legislatures' power to appoint (and remove) United States Senators. As such, the core of the problem with federal preemption lies in the passage of the 17 th Amendment which abrogated the state legislatures' right to appoint United ...

DO AMERICAN'S HAVE THE STOMACH FOR FREEDOM? By Devvy Kidd September 10, 2002 NewsWithViews.com "As long as a hundred of us remain alive we will never be subject to tyrannical dominion because it is not for glory or riches or honors that we fight, but for freedom alone which no worthy man loses except with his life" - The Declaration of Arbroath, 1320 Last week I received a phone call from a nice lady at the NRA who wanted a special gift of $25.00 to fight yet another anti-American, anti-Second Amendment bill in the compromising U.S. Senate. This lady went on to tell me how the NRA fights for my gun rights. I've heard it all before. My response to her was: "Really? Well, you're losing the battle because the same old 'buy and lobby' sell-outs in Congress or the buzzards in the 50 state legislatures isn't working." The situation has only continued to deteriorate. I told her it's time the good people of this country fight their own battle to protect their God- given right to own and bear arms. On June 3, 2002, I spoke to the Northern California chapter of the California Rifle and Pistol Association. I ...

Life Outside The Beltway

Washington elites, pontificating pundits and media types would be very surprised to know: There is life outside the beltway. Millions of largely invisible, average Americans live there. And these Americans are living lives totally alien to the thousands of so-called experts and talking heads who claim to represent them. For instance: These Americans, (I'll call them 'we' Americans, as I belong to their ranks), aren't waiting breathlessly for the latest word on high from Hillary. We really don't care what she says, having learned long ago that much of what comes out of her mouth is designed for political expediency, not conveying truths. We're also not marveling over the new media messiah, Obama. We've been around awhile and we know what all the experts don't, namely, that a 15 minute flash in the pan does not a president make. As far as we're concerned.. http://rightbias.com/News/062408belt.aspx
