The Loss of Independence by Patrick J. Buchanan

The Loss of Independence by Patrick J. Buchanan Posted: 07/04/2008 Not until a year after Lexington did the Continental Congress muster the resolve to declare the 13 colonies free and independent states, no longer subject to Parliament or Crown. Not for five years after July 4, 1776, did George Washington's army truly attain America's independence at Yorktown. Even then, Washington and his aide Alexander Hamilton knew that the 13 states, while politically independent, were dependent upon Europe for the necessities of their national life. Without French ships and guns, French muskets and troops, the Americans could not have forced Gen. Cornwallis' surrender at Yorktown. Cornwallis would have sailed away, as Gen. Howe had from Boston. Indeed, absent the 1778 alliance with France, our Revolution would have been a longer bloodier affair and might not have succeeded. http://www.making-money-alert.com/off... target="_blank"> At the Constitutional Convention of 1787, both Washington and Hamilton were determined to make America's political independence permanent, and to begin to cut the umbilical cord to Europe. In the Constitution that came out of that convention, the states were prohibited from imposing any tariffs on the products of other states, thus creating the greatest common market in history, the United ...

HELP STOP the Bailout of Irresponsible Wall Street Banks

Help Stop the Bailout of Irresponsible Wall Street Banks If you're like the vast majority of homeowners, despite the recent downturn in the housing market, you're not in foreclosure - in fact you've been making your mortgage payments on time. Maybe you chose not to take out an adjustable rate mortgage or a home equity line on your house. Maybe you've had to make sacrifices to cover your mortgage payments every month. So, when you hear politicians talk about a "bailout" to help the Wall Street banks that issued irresponsible loans you're asking yourself: "Who's going to pay for that?" The answer is: your tax dollars are going to pay for it. Don't let that happen, sign our Petition now! The Senate has overwhelmingly passed a so-called "mortgage relief" bill that will set up a government slush fund to buy up these bad loans. This really should be called the "Rewarding Irresponsible Wall Street Banks " bill. Not only do you have to scrimp and save to pay off your own mortgage, but now Senator Chris Dodd and the rest of Congress want you to help underwrite other bad loans that should have never been made in the first place. ...

Criminal History of Congress

The following was taken from the Libertarian Party website about 9 years ago. I cannot find a link for it, but here's the info anyway. 29 have been accused of spousal abuse 7 have been arrested for fraud 19 have been accused of writing bad checks 117 have bankrupted at least 2 businesses 3 have been arrested for assault 71 cannot get a credit card because of bad credit 14 have been arrested on drug charges 8 have been arrested for shoplifting 21 were current defendants in lawsuits at the time this research was done in 1998 alone, 84 were stopped for drunk driving --- This is old info but I'm sure not much has changed. Can you imagine a company of around 500 employees having this large a percentage engaged in these types of acts? Yet, we keep electing them. Go figure.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/06/18/earmarks/index.html Staffers for only 31 of the 435 members of the House contacted by CNN between Wednesday and Friday of last week supplied a list of their earmark requests for Fiscal Year 2008, which begins on October 1, or pointed callers to Web sites where those earmark requests were posted. Of the remainder, 68 declined to provide CNN with a list, and 329 either didn't respond to requests or said they would get back to us, and didn't. ( Find out how your representative responded ) the stats are pretty bad for a congress that said they wanted to be more open!!!!

Boston News, Massachusetts News, Weather & Sports Channel 7News WHDH-TV - The Hiller Instinct - Hiller Instinct: 7News / Suff... Hiller Instinct: 7News / Suffolk University Poll -- Governor Patrick and Senator Kerry Reported by: Andy Hiller Producer: Mike Boudo Contact MBoudo@whdhcm View all archived The Hiller Instinct reports No one would confuse Deval Patrick with John Kerry, but they do have similarities. Both are lawyers with Ivy League degrees, both are liberals who like life's luxuries, and both could lose their jobs. When John Kerry won his senate seat in 1984, the Celtics were winning an NBA title with the original Big Three, and at the State House, Governor Mike Dukakis wasn't even thinking about the White House. Since then, Kerry has won three more terms in the Senate, but he hasn't won the hearts of state voters. Our exclusive 7News Suffolk University Poll proves it: Just 38% of Bay State voters hope he's re-elected in November, while 51%--more than half--want someone new. Nine per cent don't know yet what they want. "These numbers signal vulnerability. In a perfect world, this would be a huge problem for John Kerry. The hook is, is there a candidate on the ...
