Jun 5, 2008 3:00 AM (1 day ago) by Dan Genz , The Examiner WASHINGTON ( Map , News ) - The United Nations plans to examine Prince William County ’s aggressive crackdown on illegal immigrants during a visit next week. Jorge Bustamante , the United Nation’s special rapporteur on migrants’ rights, plans to tour Manassas and Woodbridge , receive briefings on local enforcement measures, and attempt to meet with local officials. He contacted immigrant leaders in the county two months ago to begin preparing for a visit, saying he was interested in the landmark nature of the county’s actions. Special rapporteurs are tasked with reviewing human-rights issues of international concern to raise political pressure and shape public opinion, but cannot issue sanctions. The international examination follows a December visit from the Virginia advisory panel of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission , which has yet to release a report on the county’s actions. A Mexican native and Notre Dame University sociology professor, Bustamante has reviewed treatment of migrants in Guatemala and Mexico and toured the United States during a three-week review of American immigration policies last year. County Chairman Corey Stewart said he is willing to meet with Bustamante, ...

Is your town being overrun by Illegals, mostly of the Mexican persuasion? Do the contractors on your area hire Illegals so they can pocket more money than if they hire Americans. Report the to Ice and don't let up!! Call that open Borders advocate lindsay Graham and tell him if he continues to support amnesty He will Not be an elected official in this state for long. If there was a recall policy in this state I would be pushing a petition to have him recalled. Any politician in any state or locality in this country that supports Amnesty for Illegal Aliens is a triator and can not be trusted they are bought and paid for because anyone that has eyes to see can see that this is not good for our country. Those people are traitors, which is what I told mr. Graham myself in an email, I got a letter in the mail that proves he doesn't read anything. Letter was all about how his ideas on Immigration and a Guest owrker program(amnesty) were the right ideas. He's traitor. and he should be strung up along with all of the rest of those traitors that support amnesty

Birmingham's King Day event to spotlight immigration debate 1/20/2008, 12:52 p.m. CST The Associated Press BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — The keynote speaker for the Martin Luther King Unity Breakfast on Monday is a Kansas native and the daughter of Mexican immigrants. Organizers said they chose Janet Murguia, the president and chief executive officer of the National Council of La Raza, because of her message of unity and her opposition to a resurgence of hate speech in the immigration debate. It's the first time in more than two decades that the keynote speaker for the Birmingham event is not a white person or a black person. Isabel Rubio, executive director of the Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama, an affiliate of La Raza, said having Murguia on the program signals a recognition of the growing population of Spanish-speaking people in Alabama and a continuation of King's dream. Murguia said she intends to speak about common challenges and opportunities for blacks and Hispanics. "We recognize that the immigration system is broken and it requires a serious debate," she said, "but there's no room in that debate for hate, and we're sensing a wave of hate right now that's not only directed at immigrants, ...

Virginia Beach OKs Pledge to Keep Out Illegal Immigrants

January 20, 2008 - 2:20pm VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - Doing business with this resort city means having to pledge not to hire illegal immigrants under a new clause in city contracts. Vendors will be required to certify they are following federal immigration laws and city officials will audit any company they think is breaking the law. The guidelines will take effect as soon as City Manager Jim Spore issues an order to city departments. "I'm very pleased; I think this is the beginning," said Councilwoman Rosemary Wilson, who suggested such a step in November. While the new guidelines may put a slight dent in illegal immigration locally, Alicia Fernandez-Bobulinski, vice chairwoman of the city's Human Rights Commission, said it won't stop it. The city has relied on state and federal officials to enforce immigration laws. But officials have been pressured to do more after two teenage girls died last spring when their car was struck by a vehicle driven by an illegal immigrant who was drunk. Police in Virginia Beach now ask those from other countries about their immigration status after they are arrested. But city officials said they have little flexibility to tighten immigration rules. For example, federal ...

Just because some people who weren't even around when Stephen Foster wrote "Florida's song" think the words lean toward racism, that wasn't even a word back then, the state song is about to be changed further stripping us of our heritage and history. The old song talked of "plantation life", etc. It was a song of the times and I'm fairly certain Foster didn't have racism in mind when he wrote the lyrics. Just another part of history being changed because a few idiots want it their way. Bye. Bye. America.

KUDOS for NC. Yeahhhh!!! Published: Aug 8, 2007 Author: Staff Post Date: 2007-08-09 12:30:25 by midwest minuteman CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Immigration and Customs agents raided several Charlotte-area apartment complexes last week, resulting in 74 arrests and, subsequently, 74 deportations. The roundup has many illegal immigrants on edge. "These are hard-working people that only want to work," said Angela Feliciano after dozens of her neighbors were arrested. "A lot of us are scared. Many neighbors are afraid to leave their homes; they say, 'They're not going to catch me.'" Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory has a different opinion of the situation. “We need to deal with them immediately and deport them,” he said. "A lot of these people may be good, hard-working people, but the fact of the matter is they've broken the law.” He said illegal immigrants, regardless of their work status, hurt Charlotte in countless ways. ICE officials said the raids were planned months in advance and will continue.

Ron Woodard Director NC LISTEN www.nclisten.com EIGHT COUNTERPOINTS TO MARTIN LANCASTER’S POINTS ABOUT ILLEGAL ALIENS ATTENDING NORTH CAROLINA COMMUNITY COLLEGES 1- Some of the illegal aliens being considered for admission to our NC Community Colleges were brought to America as dependents by their illegal alien parents. However, anyone old enough to attend Community College can now return to their host Country as an adult and acquire a post-secondary education there. To continue to provide non-emergency benefits and privileges to illegal aliens will only serve to encourage more illegal immigration to America. It is also unfair to would-be legal immigrants who are currently standing in line to come to America legally and are abiding by the rule of law. 2- It has been suggested that some of the illegal aliens who came to America as dependents of illegal alien parents and have spent some time in our public schools, should now be allowed to enroll in our UNC Universities and NC Community Colleges. Based on the Supreme Court’s Plyler v. Doe decision in 1982, dependents of illegal aliens can attend public schools in grades K-12. The Court did this only because ...
