Houstons Media Bias Towards Criminals

The Houston media has GOT to be either the most biased or unintelligent people on earth. Here are just a few of their highlights. There was an Illegal Alien who was stopped by a Houston Police Officer, handcuffed and put in the Officers car. He had a hide-out gun and shot the Officer five times in the back of the head. More Officers showed up on the scene, the Illegal was still there, admitted he shot the Officer yet every time the media mentions this tragedy, the Illegal is the " Suspected Shooter". Last year a man named Joe Horn shot and killed two men who were here illegally from Columbia because he saw them break in his neighbors home, and when they came back out loaded down with stolen items he confrontd them and they advanced on him. When the media mentions this story, the illegal criminals are described as " Supposedly " breaking into the house. By the way, Mr. Horn was just No-Billed by a Grand Jury and of course the usual groups are going to hold a protest for this 'Injustice". They wanted Mr. Horn to go to prison. The last event ...

Spotlight on media's pro-homosexual bias

Chad Groening - OneNewsNow - 6/19/2008 8:50:00 AM var addthis_pub = 'onenewsnow'; A pro-family advocate says the mainstream media's coverage of the homosexual issue is almost always pro-homosexual and that the negative aspects of the lifestyle are rarely reported. Since the California Supreme Court overturned the state's ban on homosexual "marriage," the media has filed numerous stories about homosexuals who are finally going to have their right to marry. As columnist Brian Fitzpatrick opines in "Media in party mode with same-sex 'marriage,'" the media has been "using emotions as tools" in their reports to sell the concept of homosexual marriage to the average American. "Rather than delivering sober-minded analyses of the pros and cons of same-sex 'marriage' for all of society, not just for homosexuals, they pulled on heartstrings with up-close-and-personal portrayals of same-sex couples," writes Fitzpatrick ( read entire column ). Robert Knight of the Media Research Center agrees, saying there has been no objectivity in the coverage of homosexuality by the media. He accuses the media of having the "biggest blind spot or the most committed ideological opinions" when it comes to the homosexual issue. Knight also points out that the media ...

Media glances over landmark decision

Chad Groening - OneNewsNow - 6/17/2008 7:30:00 AM var addthis_pub = 'onenewsnow'; It's not surprising, says one pro-family activist, that the mainstream media has virtually ignored the recent appeals court decision upholding the ban on homosexuals serving in the military. Robert Knight with the Media Research Center (MRC) says he was very pleased with the recent ruling by the First U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston -- which said the 1993 law was completely constitutional. But the pro-family leader says the mainstream media barely reported the story. ( See earlier story ) He says only the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald ran the story. "... [T]he Associated Press did not cover the ruling," Knight continues. "But two days later the Associated Press carried an article that was highly critical of the Democrats for not moving faster to overturn [the] 'don't ask, don't tell' [policy]." The MRC spokesman also points out that the mainstream media jumped all over a story in May about a Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that favored a lesbian woman who was suing for reinstatement in the Air Force. "What they did was reinstate a particular lawsuit. They ...

Chad Groening - OneNewsNow - 6/13/2008 9:50:00 AM var addthis_pub = 'onenewsnow'; A conservative organization is urging members of Congress to pass a bill that would permanently ban the so-called "Fairness Doctrine." Supporters of the Broadcaster Freedom Act want to get the necessary 218 signatures on the discharge petition by July 4; currently the petition has 194 signatories. H.R. 2905 , sponsored by Congressman Mike Pence (R-Indiana) and a host of other House members, would remove from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) any authority to enact regulations or policies that would reinstate "the requirement that broadcasters present opposing viewpoints on controversial issues of public importance" -- otherwise known as the Fairness Doctrine. Rich Noyes of the Media Research Center says the Fairness Doctrine was never fair. "It was used by liberals to intimidate conservative talk radio," he points out. The doctrine made it easy to sue in order to make sure the other side was given access, Noyes continues. "It really had a chilling effect in that there was very little editorial discussion, independent discussion like you have today on talk radio," he notes. "And liberals have for 20 years ... wanted to get this ...

Media Research Center Douglas C. Mills, Executive Vice President If a leading presidential contender called for cutting missile defense systems and ending development of all nuclear weapons in today’s world, wouldn't you expect that to be major news covered by the mainstream media? Friday, Rush Limbaugh reported on a statement made by Senator Barack Obama that called for cutting "missile defense systems" and ending development of "all nuclear weapons." But, the liberal media have ignored it. Rush told his radio listeners "I cannot believe that this has not been more widely disbursed and distributed...I need some proof on this." Where did Rush and his staff turn for proof? The Media Research Center. Rush told his radio listeners that his staff "went out and researched it. We found it is true, a story from... [MRC's] Cybercast News Service." Go here to see the video and read the MRC story that Rush referenced: http://www.mrcaction.org/r.asp?U=7908... /> + + Unprecedented liberal media bias Of course, the mainstream media have all but ignored these statements. It took the MRC's Internet news service, CNSNews.com, to expose it in a way that gave Rush the "proof" he needed to report on it. In over two decades of ...

+ + + MEDIA RESEARCH CENTER + + MRC NEWS REPORT FOR MAY 29, 2008 + + From the Desk of: Douglas Mills, Executive Vice President 5/29/2008 ABC reporter Jack Tapper, who follows politicians around for a living, has dubbed Barack Obama a "one-man gaffe machine." In Brent's latest column, he examines Obama's Quayle-isms--Obama saying there are 58 states in the Union; Obama repeatedly using the wrong name for the cities he campaigns in and Obama acknowledging "fallen heroes" at a Memorial Day crowd as if they were alive and standing in the audience -- and suggests a media double standard. If John McCain made such gaffes, Brent asks, wouldn't the media accuse him of having a "senior moment?" The answer: They already have. Can we have just a little balance, here? As Brent astutely points out, the same media that turned Dan Quayle's name into a punch-line is the media that is propping up Obama as Captain Competent. Read Brent's latest column: http://www.mrcaction.org/r.asp?U=7748... /> It consumes the nightly newscasts--America's failing economy. All the major networks have hyped similarities to the Great Depression (more than 40 times in the first 4 months of 2008). But is the parallel true? MRC's ...

Language and one-sided media

Jeff Johnson - OneNewsNow - 5/26/2008 8:00:00 AM var addthis_pub = 'onenewsnow'; Conservative media analyst and former Los Angeles Times news editor Robert Knight says the court battles over the definition of marriage provide the latest examples of how the media use biased terminology to promote positions they support. Pro-family advocates talk about laws protecting "natural marriage" or "biblical marriage" while objective observers write about "traditional marriage." But Knight, director of the Media Research Center's Culture and Media Institute , says one will not hear either of those phrases used in most so-called "mainstream" media reports. "The press has reported it as 'Gay Marriage Ban Upheld,' making the marriage law – which is a healthy, positive thing defining what a marriage is – a 'ban' on some people. So it makes it entirely negative. They've done this over and over, and they spin language to their advantage," Knight contends. The media's actions are not surprising, according to Knight, because they frequently commit what he calls "labeling bias." "For instance, prostitutes are no longer 'prostitutes.' They're 'undocumented sex workers.' And of course, abortion is just 'reproductive choice' ... and illegal aliens have morphed into ...

Media ignores Obama concert negatives Jeff Johnson - OneNewsNow - 5/22/2008 12:00:00 PM At least some members of the much-touted crowd of 75,000 people at a May 18 rally in Portland for Barack Obama may have been there, in part, to see a popular local band that normally opens its concerts with the national anthem -- of the former Soviet Union. National media outlets have widely reported estimates of between 72,000 and 75,000 people in attendance at Obama's rally. What they have largely failed to report, however, is that many in the crowd may have attended as much for a free concert as to express their support for the Democratic frontrunner. "The rally drew 75,000 people, but the media did not give any credit to the opening act, The Decemberists, who are wildly popular in Portland," says Robert Knight, director of the Culture and Media Institute of the Media Research Center. "I'm not saying that Obama wouldn't have drawn a big crowd, but certainly when you have a band that popular opening for him on a beautiful day, that probably should have been mentioned [by the media]. " By not mentioning the band, Knight says, the media has been able ...

NBC's 'deceptive' editing draws Bush ire

Jim Brown - OneNewsNow - 5/22/2008 6:00:00 AM var addthis_pub = 'onenewsnow'; Media analyst Tim Graham says the White House is justified in its strong criticism of NBC News. White House counselor Ed Gillespie sent a terse letter to NBC News earlier this week, accusing the network of "deceptively" editing an interview with President Bush. During the interview, correspondent Richard Engel asked Bush whether his comments before the Israeli Knesset -- about appeasing terrorists -- were directed at Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. According to Gillespie, the editing was "clearly intended to give viewers the impression that [President Bush] agreed with [Engel's] characterization of his remarks when he explicitly challenged it." Tim Graham, director of media analysis at the Media Research Center (MRC), says the White House has every reason to be upset with NBC News. "...[C]learly the viewers at home could see that Richard Engel was pressing Bush as to why his policies were such a horrendous failure. They were very biased questions," Graham points out. "And ... when you compare that, or stack that up next to the most recent Brian Williams interview on NBC with Barack Obama -- where he held up ...
