The GOP mocks Conservatives via Linda Chavez.

It is common to hear folks betrayed by the Republican Party say things like: "The GOP is out of touch with its base..." Saying this is akin to a beaten house wife looking for something good in her abuser husband. "He'll change, I just need to pay attention to his needs..." My thoughts are that anyone who is still a member of the GOP is either suffering from Stockholm syndrome, or they support open borders. It is really that simple. Some people look to the GOP as an antithetical solution to B. Hussein Obama, but this is highly unfortunate manner of thinking and precisely the reason we are in a bind currently. Without this childish polarized thinking there would be no way that a leftist, pro-collectivist candidate would be running as the GOP nominee. Yes the GOP is out of touch, but it is for a different reason than most think. They are intentionally out of touch. They have no quams about dumping the very people that have made them successful, the very people they sent email after email signed with patriotic quotes when they needed their support, because they are following the plans laid out in "Creating a North ...

NEWS RELEASE INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS WON IN TODAY’S SUPREME COURT HEARING, SAYS SAF BELLEVUE, WA – Today’s oral arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of District of Columbia v Heller produced a clear victory for the individual citizen’s right to keep and bear arms, the Second Amendment Foundation said. “We are confident,” said SAF founder Alan Gottlieb, “that the high court will hand down an opinion that affirms the Second Amendment means what it says. Based on the questions that the justices asked, it is clear that they read the amicus briefs submitted by our side in support of District resident Dick Anthony Heller. We were impressed with the depth of questions asked by all of the justices, and we have no doubt that the court has a clear understanding of Second Amendment history, and that ‘the people’ are all citizens. “We believe the District presented a very weak defense of its handgun ban that is not supported by court precedent or historical fact,” he continued. “Attorney Alan Gura, and Solicitor General Paul Clement, however, both provided a clear and proper perspective on the meaning of the Second Amendment. Mr. Gura’s remarks left the justices with a clear ...

Wal-Mart to Film Gun Sales in Bid to Fight Crime Monday, April 14, 2008 10:02 PM NEW YORK -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc, the world's largest retailer, unveiled plans on Monday to film its gun sales in the United States and create a computerized log of purchases in a bid to stop guns falling into the wrong hands. Wal-Mart, which is the largest seller of firearms in the United States, agreed a 10-point code, which also includes rigid inventory controls, with a bipartisan coalition of Mayors Against Illegal Guns led by New York's Michael Bloomberg. The retailer said it will develop a first-of-its-kind computerized crime gun trace log that will flag purchases by customers who have previously bought guns later recovered in crimes. "Wal-Mart currently uses a strong point of sale system," said J.P. Suarez, senior vice president and chief compliance officer of Wal-Mart. "This code is a way for us to fine-tune the things we're already doing and further strengthen our standards. We hope other retailers will join us." The Responsible Firearms Retailer Partnership is designed to strengthen the points in the gun purchasing system that criminals have exploited in the past, Wal-Mart and the ...

GUNS!! Illegal in Parks

The NRA-ILA sent me an alert having to do with rules about American Citizens executing their Second Amendment right to be armed, but that being armed is illegal in government parks and on government land. This is the letter I sent the Parks Service; I could carry my loaded Tommy Gun, BAR, Army .45 Automatic, Model 94, Model 70, M-79, M-60 and 14 other firearms through any park in the United States..........and nobody would be in the slightest danger................because guns do not make me an insane killer. If I really did have a weapon while in any park, and a Ranger need back-up, I wouldn't hesitate to do so because I would be in a position to do so. However, being unarmed, I might just cause me to oh, go for a hike instead. The Army insisted I keep a weapon, even sleep with it; and they trained me in it's use and expected me to use it when they told me to. So, why am I now unqualified and even considered a danger by the same government? Michael Shatto Concord, CA

Time to compromise on gun control

Mike S. Adams - Guest Columnist - 4/29/2008 8:35:00 AM There is little doubt that this will be the most controversial column I've written to date. But sometimes when working in a university environment one is exposed to ideas that one simply cannot repudiate. And this requires a modification of views -- even if those views are deeply held -- or very fun, or both. Such an occasion happened last week on "Empty Holster Day" -- an event sponsored by the College Republicans at UNC-Wilmington. It began as an event designed to convince campus leftists that our laws should be modified to allow those above 21 years of age (with valid concealed carry permits) to carry on campus. But the event actually backfired, so to speak. First (and Second) Amendment hero Tyler Millage -- a junior at UNCW -- organized the event. Beforehand, he invited Chancellor Rosemary DePaolo to attend. After the always accessible Chancellor ignored both of his emails he posted an open letter to DePaolo on Face Book -- and even brought a hard copy to her office. That got her attention and she responded 90 minutes later saying it would be inappropriate for ...

DC proves gun bans don't work

Rusty Pugh - OneNewsNow - 4/29/2008 8:30:00 AM Gun-control advocates claim that banning guns reduces incidences of gun-related violence. But a gun-ownership rights group says the nation's capital is a perfect example of how just the opposite is true. Police in the District of Columbia have increased patrols city-wide because of a rash of shootings. The city has recorded more than 50 homicides this year, 19 in April alone. The nation's capital also has one of the most far-reaching gun bans in the country. In contrast, the murder rate just across the Potomac River in northern Virginia is only a fraction of that in Washington. So why are so many people dying from shootings in DC? Erich Pratt with Gun Owners of America believes he knows why. He argues against gun-control advocates who claim the firearms are coming into the area from northern Virginia. "Well, if that's the case then why aren't the guns a problem in northern Virginia, [where] the murder rate is only a fraction of what it is in Washington, DC?" he asks. "Even though the northern Virginia area has twice the population, we have only a fraction of the murder rate ...
