Independence Day ... Not for Ramos and Compean

But Independence Day hasn’t come for Border Agents Nacho Ramos and Jose Compean, who are both still awaiting the decision on their appeals heard back in December. I decided to write this update after one of our Grassfire staffers told me that she’s been keeping the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit webpage open on her computer since Ramos and Compean’s December appeal. “I check it every day,” she said. “It’s my little way of remembering them, and keeping them in my thoughts.” I like that idea so much I’m encouraging everyone on our team to do the same. Click here! I’m also asking everyone to send these two men an inspirational letter, poem, or card--just letting them know that you are thinking of them and their families. Together, let’s make certain July 4, isn’t just day 535 for Ramos and Compean. While it is another day without family and freedom, we can make it a day filled with friends! At the end of this year all obligations for DHS to build the fence ends, leaving our borders open for invasion. Worse yet, our next President, be it Obama or McCain are both horribly lax on border security. This is it. If we are ever to see a real border fence securing our borders, grassroots Americans must respond in force, right now! A Grassroots Shutdown of Congress—July 9-10 Beginning on July 9, I am calling on ALL members of our team to help me shutdown the switchboards and fax machines in EVERY Congressional office with the simple demand to build the fence as promised! Please click here to learn more, and to tell me I can count on you to call your Congressman. I’m tired of being made a fool of by DHS, The President and certain members ...

It is the current malediction of choice in application to the Bush administration, both at home and abroad, for having conquered and occupied Iraq over the objections of France, Germany, Russia, and most other nations. -Crispin Sartwell, 2007. Terrorists should not be regarded as basic thugs or simple, uninformed gangs; rather, many are learning that the fundamentals of business are as important to their future as field stripping a Kalashnikov is today. .. they form alliances and initiate agreements. These alliances demonstrate a new dimension of the terrorism phenomena: maturity. The initial step toward maturity for these independents requires them to network with larger, like-minded organizations. Such organizations may have different ideologies, goals, adversaries, or sponsors, but they have a compelling reason to cooperate with less mature groups: growth. (Desouza & Hensgen, 2007:595). Many argue that this is exactly what the United States is not doing. Terrorist organizations are maturing, they are growing, and they are allying themselves with one another, and availing themselves of one another’s strengths, contacts and resources. The unilateral policy of the Bush administration has put the United States well below the curve in this respect. Consider ...

One of the nation's leading online tracking companies knows. Monitoring consumers at roughly 3,000 Web sites, Revenue Science identified brides by picking out bridal behavior it had seen: anyone who'd gone online to read about weddings in the news, entered "bridesmaid dresses" into a search engine or surfed fashion pages for wedding styles. The company found 40,000 such people, whom it knows by random number, not name, and sent them a tailored online ad. "A successful campaign," according to company president Jeff Hirsch. The growing practice of "behavioral targeting," or sending ads to online users based on their Internet habits, is now under scrutiny by the Federal Trade Commission , whose review could shape not only Web advertising rules ...

The terrorist threat to America takes many forms, has many places to hide, and is often invisible” - President George W. Bush, 16 July 2002 (reprinted in Baird, 2006:415). It may be unfair, but many critics have claimed that the only thing that’s “invisible” is the Bush administration’s clear plan to alleviate terrorism. Foreign Policy and the Center for American Progress (2006) surveyed “more than 100 of America’s top foreign policy experts” both Republicans and Democrats, and asked them if they thought America was winning the war on terror. “A bipartisan majority (84 percent) of the index’s experts say the United States is not winning the war on terror. Eighty-six percent of the index’s experts see a world today that is growing more dangerous for Americans.” The majority expressed criticism of President Bush’s policy initiatives since 9/11, specifically the detention of terrorist suspects at Guantanamo, America’s policy toward its European allies, North Korea, Iran non-proliferation, and arms control. In a discussion about President Bush’s 2007 State of the Union Address, Amy Zalman (2007) concludes that there ...

Our Part In Global Warming

"the only thing we have to fear is fear itself" Quote from Franklin D. Roosevelt the 32nd President of the United Sates. Our nation and our world has succumb to fear. Fear in something that you cannot see, smell, touch or hear. Thousands of scientists and academics, have come forth with a theory that our world is being destroyed by humanity and we are making it real in our collective minds. "Global Warming" is getting larger and larger and I don't mean the amount of green house gases. It is growing in fear. This fear is causing our government and others to place very large and heavy taxes and burdens on the public. The politicians, the men and women that we voted for to protect us, are soon to be making these taxes and burdens real by enacting laws to regulate green house gases. The laws will turn a theory into a financial reality for us all. THEORY Noun: An assumption based on limited information or knowledge; a conjecture. FACT Noun: Something demonstrated to exist or known to have existed. "Global Warming" has not been proven to be a fact. A fact would be that the earth has gone through ...

90 Day Plan to Stop 90% of the Immigration and Border Crisis

Withhold the Vote Petition! Ninety-Day Plan To STOP 90 Percent of the Immigration Crisis An Open Letter to Senators Obama and McCain: As voting citizens of the United States, we are hereby withholding our votes in the upcoming election until law and order is brought to the entire southern border. Our hearts go out to the American border ranchers, and the young Mexican girls and women who are brutally raped in our southern deserts. As presidential candidates you have both promised to secure the border, but as senators neither of you have acted to bring any relief to the people suffering in the border region. We the people have a 90 day plan that would alleviate at least 90 percent of the current border crisis. Implementing the plan would have a profound life-saving impact on our ranchers and the young women who are brutalized by drug smugglers and coyotes. As voting citizens, we are asking each of you to endorse our plan and enter into a contract with America—promising to follow through with our four point plan. By endorsing our plan, we will endorse you—with our votes on Election Day. We anticipate being one million voters strong by November ...
