Rev. Ffleger Speech

In video circulating on the Internet, Pfleger said the former first lady expected to win the nomination before Obama's sudden popularity. "She just always thought that, 'This is mine. I'm Bill's wife. I'm white.' ... And then, out of nowhere, came 'Hey, I'm Barack Obama." And she said, 'Oh damn, where did you come from? I'm white. I'm entitled. There's a black man stealing my show,"' Pfleger said at Trinity United Church of Christ. He then went on to parody Clinton, sobbing and wiping his face with a handkerchief. "She wasn't the only one crying," he said. "There was a whole lot of white people crying." What do you make of all the resentment against whites coming from preachers affiliated with Obama?

I read "The Long Emergency" by James Howard Kunstler over a year ago. Here's a quote from the book: "The total planetary endowment of conventional nonrenewable liquid oil was roughly two trillion barrels before humans started using it. Sinice the mid-nineteenth century, the world has burned through roughly one trillion barrels of oil, half the total there ever was, representing the easiert-to-get, highest quality liquids. The half that remains includes the hardest oil to get, lowest-quality liquids, semisolids, and solids." Here's another: "The world is now using 27 billion barrels of oil a year. If every last drop of the remaining 1 trillion barrels could be extracted at current cost ratios and current rates of production -- which is extremely unlikely -- the entire endowment would last only another 37 years." The author had a chapter called "Adios Globalism" because its cheap oil that's made globalism possible. Without it, sending products across the world will no longer be profitable because of the cost of shipping. Have you thought about what running out of oil will mean to you and your country? Is the author wrong? He says the Saudis don't have as much oil as we think they have. He ...

CNN Republican Debate: Opinions Please

Four presidential hopefuls sat at the table: Romney, McCain, Paul and Huckabee. McCain and Romney got all the questions while Huckabee reminded everyone he wanted to be included and Paul was ignored and passed over. What did you see and hear? Was Anderson Cooper, the moderator, fair and balanced. Were the questions pertinant? Who made points and who didn't? If we concede McCain and Romney are the two viable candidates will their differences split the party? Why is McCain getting all the endorsements? McCain is not welll-liked on this blog because of his amnesty stance. What will it mean to us if he gets the nomination? Paul and Huckabee seem to have little chance of winning. If they stay in the race who are they pulling votes away from?

Bushwhackonomics is destroying this nation

I don't know much about economics and I'm just beginning to understand some of the terminology. What I can see is the worth of our dollar falling, a huge national debt, a huge trade deficit that keeps growing and the food in my grocery store going up in price. I can see the price for a gallon of gas going up and I know many have lost manufacturing jobs. I can see Mexicans hanging out of my local Carls Jr. drive-in and I wonder if they're illegal. I can see that the subprime mortgage thieves have prospered while others lose their homes. The list goes on and on and none of it looks good us, the average working guy. What is going on? Where are we going economically as a country? Why is anyone who is against Free trade called an isolationist, anti-Wall Street, and an anti-capitalist? Why does Bush keep saying the underpinnings of our economy are good, even as the stock market goes up and down. What do sovereign funds mean to us when the people who own us differ in culture and philosophy? When the economy is bad it overshadows everything and becomes the main issue. Is ...

Off Subject Thread

This last year has been pretty depressing with the status quo remaining the same, just fluctuating to varying degrees as the individual states fight to remain solvent and protect themselves from the onslaught of illegal immigration, bad trade deals, jobs leaving the country, and a Congress that ignores us. Going to the movies often helps my mood and transports me into pure fantasy where I can escape from the problems for an hour or two and just be a carefree human being. I'm sure others on this blog go to the movies also. I wonder how many would appreciate a movie review thread where we rate the movies we see on a one to four star system, four being the best movie. I just saw "National Treasure," the sequel, and actually got up during the movie to buy Milk Duds, something I never do during most movies because I don't want to miss anything. Some input please. A movie review thread would be completely "off topic" but would it be something others on this blog would enjoy and find useful? Would FS allow such a thread if others wanted it?

Why are posts being deleted from the CFR Media thread that was recently locked? Much quarreling went on there and every post is integral to show "the entire" picture of what happened. Those posts comprise the "official record," and should be kept inviolate. I am not ashamed for defending myself against a group that systematically acts in concert to trash the rights of others.

Americans Pay for Global Warming

SmallGovTimes.com Americans pay for emerging world government By: Cliff Kincaid | Published on 11/28/07 In its new Human Development Report calling for another $86 billion in aid to the rest of the world, supposedly to fight the effects of climate change, the United Nations acts distressed that people in "rich" countries like the U.S. don't take the theory of man-made global warming more seriously. Its answer ― and this is actually spelled out in the report ― is that too much "editorial balance" in the media has prevented "informed debate" about the need for "urgent action" in the form of higher taxes on energy. The U.N. report complains that, according to one poll, roughly four in ten Americans believe that human activity is responsible for global warming, but just as many believe it is a natural phenomenon. This is not acceptable to the global elite. The U.N. is calling for more propaganda from the media, in order to push the American people toward acceptance of the alarmist view and higher energy taxes and the increased foreign aid that would result. It just so happens this would also result in more money flowing into the coffers of the U.N. ...

Are We Still A Sovereign Nation?

Sovereign means independent and free from external influence. Just yesterday it seemed our government made decisions that were in the best interests of the American people. Today it seems just the opposite. Since President Bush began pushing his NAFTA agenda it seems we have tied ourselves so closely to Mexico that Presidente Calderon feels free to meddle in our domestic policies. Last week a Mexican political party, PAN, met in LA with Ex-President Fox present to try to influence AMERICAN voters with regard to illegal immigration and open borders. Today my TV tells me Mexican meddling is accelerating and points out President Bush remains silent. Mexico feels entitled to interfere in American domestic policy. We know President Bush wants open borders but why is he willing to allow the Mexican government to become so bold? I am really beginning to wonder: ARE WE STILL A SOVEREIGN NATION?

I'm tired of being called a "conspiracy nut." If we know it's real because we got there the hard way, by reading and studying and listening, how can we convince others to take the same path? Right now the American people are divided on the war in Iraq and what they see only as illegal immigration. Why can't they link bad Chinese food and products with the NAFTA Supercorridor, illegal immigration, the Mexican trucks, Calderon's comments, slanted news, cheap labor, open borders and all the rest? The NAFTA free trade agreement is a monster that's swallowing the continent and turning us into a North American Union. Let's talk about the Bush family plans for us, what we're to become, how the three (3) countries will relate, and what it means to future generations. Is President Bush using the Iraq war to turn attention away from what he's doing here at home? Has he created a never-ending war for a purpose or has it just turned out that way? Let's talk about all of it and try to find a way out of this maze. I want to hear all ideas and learn while I'm doing it.
