http://www.latimes.com/news/nationwor... Immigration arrests roil Graham, N.C. FACING DEPORTATION: Marxavi Angel Martinez, 23, shown with her son, was charged with misuse of a Social Security number. Her parents brought her to the U.S. at age 3. The pending deportation of an exemplary young woman raised in the town has outraged many residents and prompted questions about the enforcement of U.S. immigration laws. By David Zucchino, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer August 24, 2008 GRAHAM, N.C. -- Marxavi Angel Martinez was a child of small-town North Carolina. She grew up here, in the rolling Piedmont region, and was a high school honor student and cheerleader before settling into a job at the Graham Public Library. At 23, she lived in a tidy white trailer at the Cedar Creek Mobile Home Park with her husband and 16-month-old son. Her carefully tended life came crashing down in July when she was accused of using a phony Social Security number and lying on her job application. U.S. to launch program allowing... 'Sanctuary city' no haven for San...
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/23/us/... The statement gets me the most P.O.'d is "“Plenty of us said it was a silly idea and not going to work, that the undocumented may be illegal but they are not stupid,” said Joshua Hoyt, executive director of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights." This is outrageous. Millions of dollars spent on immigration attorneys and translators for Illegals that are caught. "The poor things just don't understand what's happening to them and are getting railroaded", yet this Pro Illegal group says they are tack sharp intelligent. Man, do I get sick of this crap.

I had a PM run in with FEDUP tonight. http://www.firesociety.com/forum/thre... Basically, like an idiot, I posted my opinion on the Baldwin thread. I was hoping that we were all adults and I wouldn't get a flame job. FEDUP came back and said I was giving my Country away. That didn't set well with me. Rather than argue on the thread (Thanx Jim), I PM'd him and told him that I was offended at his statement. We went back and forth for a couple of PM's and I finally told him that I was offended and we just didn't have common ground and I was done with the conversation. Well, he wrote back essentially saying I was stupid for being offended. So, I wrote back and told said I was done with conversation about Baldwin and he was having a discussion by himself and not to contact me on THAT issue anymore. Well, next thing I know, he wrote again, this time saying that we had no common ground, but he was going to stand on his statement. So, I wrote back and told him as a moderator, I was telling him not to contact me again on that issue. I ...

McCain will not choose Pro Choice VP

This is funny. I just wrote the McCain campaign (like 2 hours ago) and said that if McCain picked a Pro Choice or Lieberman as VP, I was running, not walking to support Baldwin. Then I get this story. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-n... The only reason I won't support a third party is that, right now, McCain has a chance to win. I feel that unless he does something REALLY stupid, he will win. But if he picks the wrong VP, he won't win. So I would vote for 3rd party as a protest vote as I guarantee you, if Leiberman is the VP choice, Baldwin will get 15-20% of the votes from McCain. If he picks a Pro Choice'er, Baldwin will get 10% and the other 10% will stay home.

New member, no profile, no PM or email rights. First post here http://www.firesociety.com/forum/thre... " How sad is it that an atheist has to remind you about bearing false witness?" I don't have the foggiest what it means, but dispariging to say the least. Probably an Obama supporter that seen this topic and just had to register to make a smart assed comment. My response to him was to get him to show his motives. "what's sad is that an atheist thinks they have the right to remind someone else about anything that has a religeous moral."

I made it clear that I have no interest in "documented" facts about conspiracy theories, but he has called me out twice. In case you didn't know, it's R eal U ncensored N ews, LOL. I haven't officially warned him to stop directing his "facts" to me personally. But, I will if he does it again. I know I'm new here, but I have a feeling he is a familiar face. I haven't got him locked in yet, but I will watch his posts, it'll come to me.

Sob Story for the Bleeding Hearts

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080... Someone decided to write a novellete on the Pottsville raid. A small town struggles after immigration raid The only statement I agreed with is " ICE officials defend the raid, saying the workers arrested were violating immigration laws and committing identity theft. "They are serious offenses and we will not apologize for enforcing the nation's laws. If 305 U.S. citizens had committed identity theft and misuse of Social Security numbers, would people expect us to look the other way?" said Tim Counts, an ICE spokesman. "Any disruption, whether to families or communities, should be put at the feet of those who violate the law."" And I am outraged at this. "There are already signs of renewal. About 150 Somalis, refugees who live and work legally in this country, have arrived to work at Agriprocessors since the raid. At first, most were single men, but a growing number of women are starting to join them. In the evenings, the long, lanky men in loose fitting clothes and women, swathed in traditional Muslim dresses and hijabs, can often be seen walking from the meatpacking plant to downtown." Why are there Somali refugees 1. In this country, 2. Why have they moved ...

http://prescottdailycourier.com/main.... " PRESCOTT - For people interested in hiring the day-workers who gather at the corner of Lincoln and Grove avenues, things have gotten more complicated in recent months. This week, Prescott City Council members heard a complaint from local resident Nancy Healey regarding a traffic ticket she recently received for stopping to hire several of the day-workers. The stop ended up costing Healey an $80 fine, which she said "seemed rather punitive to me."" Holy Crap, Batman, whatta maroon.

Funny - Garages and Mexicans

I saw this over at the Seattle Times and thought it was funny. However, I have been accused of having a weird sense of humor. "When I drive through my culturally diverse 'hood, I can spot the Mexicans. Even in August in San Antonio, the garage door is up, the interior garage walls are painted some garish blue or yellow, the television is blaring some pro game, and a crowd of Mexicans are sitting in lawn chairs and swilling beer from the garage refrigerator. Since when did the room where you should park your cars become a social habitat for Mexicans? Why do Mexicans like to sit in their garages, in the sweltering heat, and think that they are having a great time? White Boy with a Squeaky-Clean Lexus IN the Garage Dear Gabacho: Broder, you just described it. Whereas gabachos see a garage as a place to store their junk, cars, and meth labs, Mexicans see endless possibilities. A lounge. Workplace. Abattoir. An extra room to rent out to a couple dozen strangers. Everything, really, except a parking spot—that's what the lawn's for."
