Who are the "environmentalist"?

I could use some expert research from the forum as to who all these "environmentalist experts" are that keep us from drilling in the ANWR, Offshore and everywhere else. Looks like the majority of the nation is for it, yet our liberal congress falls back on the influence these people apparently have. I'd like to know names, affliations and what statistical evidence they've given that forces our nation to maintain an energy policy that includes importing 70% of it's oil consumption.

you can start with the serria club...this is the largest group, and does the most strong arming.

next would probably be the world wildlife fund. another bunch of animal lovers who think pretty animals are more important than human development.

don't forget greenpease. they moved offthe ocean,and are now into dryland issues also.

the radical militants are the animal liberation front, and the earth liberation front.these two use violance, and intimidation to get their message across, to the point of being labled domestic terrorists.

funny how almost all the money these groups raise"tohelp the animals" goes to hire k street lobbisists.  groups like ducks unlimited use their donated money to actuall buy/lease land to return to duck habitate, which actually helps ducks(who wouldda thunk???)

if you look past the surface of most enviromental groups, you will find they are less concerned with animals, and more concerned with power and control of the population.

in short, the environmental movement is the greateat obstical to this countries energy independence.

Ok, The Environmentalists are anyone and everyone that want's gun control, real global warming and they are called Democrats, liberals and Libertarians. People like Greenpeace, ya know, all the Hollyweirdo's and anyone that can come up with a conspriacey. Oh noooo, save the Whales!!! 

Here's a good example of an Environmentalist as long as the pot turns to gold that is. Disney...There ya go..They are part of it too!!!! I sure miss Walt Disney though. Now we have the fag machine in there. Go to Orlando and tell me it ain't so.

Theodore Roosevelt was a true environmentalist, and a true Republican. Gun control is hitting your target. Overpopulation is the driving force of most ecological problems and societal problems, like the invasion from the south, and high demands driving up prices. Using up resources that should be saved or rationed for future generations, like our Ogallala Aquifer and soil. Polluting in many ways and far beyond the Earth's ability to absorb, to the point of mercury in the soil and fish, and plastic trash in incredible quantities in our oceans. Conservation is a big part of conservatism. Replenish the Earth and fill, but not over-fill, the Earth are in the first pages of the Bible, and ignored. I'm not against drilling in the ANWR, but I am very concerned about melting tundra making the pipeline unstable. I am very concerned about methane release becoming self-sustaining, and thus an extinction level event geologically. Remember our Republican President Nixon was the only President to address Congress about overpopulation, in 1969, and in 1972, and not a darn thing was done. Now we are in extreme overshoot with a dumbing down population thanks to the likes of Ted Kennedy and his immigration screw up in 1965, and all who continue to not enforce our Constitution and laws against the illegal invasion of 3rd world scumbags. I walk the talk and had only one child, built my own solar home and Earthship to grow some food. Hunt and fish when able, and still adhering to my military Oath, ready for CW2.

Thanks Cannon. So far you're only one to truely take a stab at the question. In specific people, what Environmentalist groups are preventing us from reducing out dependence of foreign oil.

i forgot/want to add p.e.t.a. (to  me that's "people eating tasty animals") this group started out wanting to protest/protect animals being used in lab experiments that were cruel and/or painful to the animals(cosmetics placed on rabbits eyes to see if the eyes were affected..often resulting in blindness). at some level, a nobel cause.

but it has degraded/been hijacked into just another "animals good...humans bad" bunch of blathering idiots who want to control what you do, and how you do it.
