It seems to me that the leadership of both major parties are hell bent on destroying our economy, liberty, culture, and way of life. Fortunately their vice-like death grip on the political course the country is taking does not extend below the level of presidential and senatorial politics and we have major opportunity in the House of Representatives where local issues and values often trump.
That said, that degree of control does mean that the US Supreme Court is more in their hands and definitely not the hands of the American people. And I am concerned that this triumvirate of these three institutions can leave the House of Representatives and the people almost powerless to stop utterly destructive action and disempowering laws. And when it comes to the supreme court, we have, as a people, been truly helpless for a long time, ever since they stopped just interpreting law and began legislating ffrom the bench.
As I have observed the Arizona Republican party machine I think the problem is running deeper than the Fed level but hopefully not as well financed. We need to clean house here in AZ as well. Over the years, any real conservatives here seem to have to run Libertarian to get on a ticket as they are shunned by the party.
I agree with you 100% We need to get the Wall Street handlers out of our representatives offices or live with the Master/Slave "country club government" we have now.
Anyone who watches a politician ignore the will of 75% of their constituents should start to figure this out.
We have the finest FEDERAL GOVERNMENT that special interest groups can buy. The AMERICAN PEOPLE are no longer represented AT ALL by any of our elected officials. Our representation at all levels including cities, counties states, etc are all on the take, and have basically become criminal enterprises that are not proscecuted at any level,no matter what the crime Is. Bush should have been impeached years ago,and Cheney should be In Federal prison. There are no longer ANY checks and balances In the Federal Government. The executive branch has trampled on our CONSTITUTION with no consequence or action from CONGRESS. We are at a crossroads, and we have two candidates for the PRESIDENT Of The United States that are In many respects even scarier than BUSH,and look at all the great accomplishments that he has achieved.... Write In a candidate,or vote for a third party to send the message that we have had enough of both the DEMS, and the REPOS........ We have to start somewhere to take OUR COUNTRY BACK,and restore the rule of law to our CONSTITUTION. http://www.holidays.net/independence/story.htm
There is a certain amount of hope in the qualisty of some of our representaives in the house. Tancredo is one, and Rohrabacher is another. Tom McClintock will be coming into the nexy cngress and is as clear a voice for common sense and constututional principles as any. But I am awware that in large part, the constitution was left behind by Andrew Jackson and Abaraham Lincoln when it came to the sovereignty of individual sovereign countries that had joined into a union of sovereign nations known as the United States of America. By the death of Lincoln, there was no longer even a pretext of state sovereignty. And never again would the country be called the Union or federal forces be called Union Forces.
Compare this to today's Europe. NATO. NATO has lost most of its significance in Europe today. Imagine that it is replaced with the forces of each sovereign European state under European Union generals. This is like the USA at the start of the Civil WAr. Irish voters just blocked the replacement of their national sovereignty in the EU with the sovereignty of the EU.
Both of our political parties have been hell bent on opening the borders, protecting the rights of illegal aliens to serve as cheap, unquestioning labor at the expense of the middle class and now want to integrate the US, Canada, and Mexico economically and militarily. As we know, history repeats itself and elites will then follow with a political union. They never tire of forming empires and larger empires.
It is interesting that investment bankers have donated heavily to Obama. who is speaking out on both sides of the free trade issue. And stubborn McCain is too stupid to see the ramifications of free trade as it has been practiced now for a generation. And he seems to travel often with Al Gore's running mate, Joe Lieberman.
the mushy middle who have politicians lije McCain and Lieberman to salivate over. The mushy middle has little in the way of beliefs and values, knows that a good life is their birthright and are unwilling to pay attentiona nd inform themselves of anything. They can't be bothered except to complain about the problem thier indifferednce and greed has created.
