Rhonda sent me this email a couple of days ago. It is the only email we have received that seems to paint a more complete picture of what has been proposed for drilling in ANWR!
See what you think!
FIRST -- do you know what ANWR is?
ANWR = Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
Now, compare the size of ANWR to Alaska and the Continental U.S.
Now -- a little more perspective.
Note where the proposed development area is –
In the 'ANWR Coastal Plain'.
The following photographs are what the Democrats, liberals, and environmentalists show you when they talk about ANWR!And they ARE photos taken in ANWR.
Isn’t ANWR beautiful and pristine?
Why would anyone want to drill here and destroy this beautiful place?..
Well, those photos are misleading – they do NOT portray the full, true story!
Remember the map?
The map showed that the proposed drilling area is in the
ANWR Coastal Plain
Do those photographs look like a coastal plain to you?
WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?
...
...
...
..
.
THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE.
THAT IS NOT WHERE THEY WANT TO DRILL!
This is what the proposed exploration area actually looks like in the winter:
And this is what it looks like in the summer:
Here are two screen shots from Google Earth:
As you can see, the area where they are talking about drilling is a barren wasteland.
And they say that they are concerned about the harmful effect on local wildlife.
Here is a photo (shot during the summer) of the “depleted wildlife situation created by drilling around Prudhoe Bay. *
Does it appear that the caribou are threatened by the drilling?
And here’s the same spot during the winter.
And this bear seems to really hate the pipeline near Prudhoe Bay. *
* The Prudhoe Bay area accounts for 17% of U.S. domestic oil production!
Obviously, the much publicized and vocal opposition to drilling in ANWR is based on lack of knowledge and/or purposeful deceit!
Now that you know the truth, what are you going to do about it?
You can start by forwarding this information to everyone on your email list so they also will know the truth!
My Vice Presidential candidate can whip your Presidential candidate!
Thank you for posting, Jim. Hopefully it will inform and enlighten enough people to back the lying media, politicians, and environmentalists to the perverbial wall. Drill here, Drill NOW, as the slogan on Glenn Beck states. R
How long before citizens wake up to the liberal BS?
In 1974 we were:
* Getting up at 4 a.m. to go wait on gas lines.
* Having the operators check to see if we were below a half tank.
* Getting sent away when the station pumped its quota for the day.
* Siphoning gas from one car to another to get to work!
It was the same canned response then... it is too late to drill now!
Now, in 2008, they have changed to 'You can't drill out of this crisis!'. They could have averted this crisis if the government had allowed drilling at any point during the last 34 years.
Their solution is always just over the time horizon.
They have their ethanol solution in the works now... food prices are rising because corn is being used to produce fuel instead of of food and feed for livestock. Corn has become a bigger money crop so farmers are producing more corn and less wheat. There goes the price of wheat through the roof!
As a distraction they push their 'Global Warming' agenda... and the poor Polar Bear nearing extinction, their hunting grounds shrinking because the ice cap is melting. The spot on TV shows a bear and her cub on an ice flow while the announcer says sadly that their hunting ground is shrinking (he doesn't mention that their population is growing). That may be true, but the seal is a bear staple. In the winter they have to patrol the ice looking for blow holes with seals... or people, whichever show up first. They like the grizzlies and brown bears in the northwest feast in the spring when the mating frenzy is upon their food source. This feasting carries them through the harsher winter period.
How about making this election cycle our own citizen feeding frenzy!
Lets feed on the careers of the politicians that:
* Oppose drilling and developing our resources.
* Oppose securing our borders.
* Oppose enforcing our immigration laws.
* Oppose reduced government spending.
* Advocate earmarks.
* Advocate amnesty or 'path to citizenship'.
* Won't punish local politicians that provide safe havens for illegals.
Time to start the frenzy! I'm starting to smell blood in the water!
If we drilled in ANWR, would we consume the oil, or would China and India consume it?
Would it lower domestic prices or global prices?
Would it be targeted for domestic use, or would it be sold on the global markets.
Does any believe that it would be oil for American use only?
And no need to call me a liberal, democrat, or enviromentalist, these are honest questions.
Honest questions.....and good ones at that!
When the other Alaska drilling was pitched to us "they" forgot to mention that it was slated to go to Japan.....you know, easier to ship it there vs shipping it to the lower 48.
I'm in favor of drilling in Anwar and the pictures tell a very honest story, it will not be detrimental to the animals....which I love.
So, the question is, how do we ensure that oil produced there and also anywhere in the ocean, gulf or lower 48 states stays in our nation?
Please, anyone with answers help us out so we can know how to proceed in our quest to protect our own interests.
It should add to the worldwide oil supply, thus lowering prices (or forestalling increases) to one degree or another. Just because it might be sold on global vs. domestic markets doesn't mean it shouldn't be done IMO!

Jim, I think most Americans believe that drilling in ANWR would instantly lower oil prices in the U.S., but from the research I have done it would be less than a quarter. Thats my problem with drilling, take the deception out, and than folks can have an honest assessment of the situation.

Well, that's a very valid point. I guess I'm just a bit wary about international agreements (trade and otherwise), since we seem to get the short end of the stick more often than not.
I guess I'm day dreaming, but I would like to see the nation no longer dependent on the Arabs, Chavez etc. I am wishing to go back in time when the U S was mostly self sufficient and had extra to share with other nations.
A friend and I were discussing not just ANWR, but all drilling in/on/under American soil or ocean boundaries. One issue was that the oil goes into a world pool, why??? Why not directly to American refineries??? How do you spell "global"??? How do you spell "free trade""?? What a farce!
The other issue was the charts showed that even if the oil were to go to a world pool, the producers (e.g. Saudi Arabia) get 40+% of the revenue from each barrel. So that money from American oil would go to America (companies that is) and American workers may be hired if they learn to speak Spanish and will accept $6.50 an hour, thus keeping more revenue at home.
Forgive the sarcasm, I could not resist!!!!
PS JIM Thanks--that is the best description I have seen so far!!!!
I too dream of the good old days, johannah -- but .............
And algebra, I too think a large part of the oil price increases is due to speculation -- demand for gasoline has not doubled in one year, so why have oil prices doubled if not for speculation?!
And misterbill, we have to thank Rhonda for the email -- she sent it, and I worked on it to get it uploaded -- word is getting around -- I just got the same thing from oldguy this morning too! Spread the word!

I heard the same thng about the speculators. Even the Saudis are saying oil should be around $60.00 a barrel max.
Maybe prices will come down if the speculators begin to think the U S is serious about drilling here and drilling now.
Also, does it seem strange to anyone besides me that Canada is rolling in oil and Mexico is rolling in oil and the naysayers keep insisting that the U S doesn'rt have enough oil (anywhere) to even bother with?
Those naysayers of course are the eco friendly extremists and their friends the liberal politicians.
How can we be sandwiched in between 2 of the most oil rich nations in the world and not ourselves have enough to supply our own needs?
If you are invested in the stock market, you too are a speculator of sorts.
The liberals in Congress like the higher prices for gas... it moves their 'Green Agenda' forward and provides a distraction. It takes everyones minds off the border, the mayhem going on there and amnesty.
Just getting the approval to drill offshore and in ANWAR should help shore up the dollar by showing the world we are serious about it. A stronger dollar will help lower prices!

Besides what are we saving it for?
More good points oldguy.
I watched some of the proceedings (circus proceeedings that is) on TV last week. Some of the politicians were railing against the oil companies (what else is new). They said no new areas would be available to them until they drill in all the areas already leased to them. Sounds reasonable, right? The only snag is they haven't been able to get permits to drill in all those areas. It take 10+ years to get a clearance from guess who? The very same politicians. Stuff comes out of both sides of the pols mouthes, in a deliberate effort to confuse the issue.

Speculators are betting against the U.S., They know we cannot get up and running fast enough to start pumping oil. They are also in the know, that is the plutocracys plan is to bankrupt the country, and offer the NAU as a solution.
Americans believe that some dark cloud has suddenly fallen over the country, that somehow God wants to punish us for our immorality, thats not what is happening. This is all part of a contrived plan to bring us into the global fold.

I believe this is a concerted effort to bring down the country. Look what has happened to the value of the dollar... it will start making the Amero look more inviting, and yet, the pols keep finding more reasons to print more.
I think Congress should give permission to drill in ANWAR with the stipulation that the oil coming from there be used in the States and not sold on the world market.
