SC STATE:  RITCHIE, TALLEY, AND TROUT DEFEATED IN RUNOFFS

For anyone who hasn't heard:

My Dear Fellow South Carolinians,

Thanks to the tireless efforts of "we the people" here in the South Carolina Upcountry, incumbents who faced opposition were soundly defeated on June 10 and during the runoffs June 24.  Jim Ritchie should have listened and conceded.  But he chose to go for it and experienced an embarrassing defeat to engineer Shane Martin, who received 66% of the vote.  I hope that "we the people" realize that incumbents, regardless of their seniority, can be defeated.  Thanks to WORD Talk Radio we were able to openly expose the lies that we were being told by incumbents and set the record straight.  If only WORD could go statewide, it would not take us long to get legislators to listen to the people or face the consequences.  SHOULD WE LOBBY WORD'S ENTERCOM TO TAKE RUSS, LISA AND BOBBY MAC STATEWIDE????

The Jim Ritchie defeat is symbolic.  There was nothing personal here.  He betrayed the people of his district, and he was FIRED.  It was that simple.  He took many of our organizations for fools, and he was FIRED.  Now we know what it takes to bring down a traitor and we must replicate this model throughout the state. (Read the article below)

Martin topples Jim Ritchie

Shane Martin proved Tuesday that his showing two weeks ago was no fluke, rolling to a lopsided victory over two-term incumbent Jim Ritchie in the Republican runoff for the Senate District 13 seat.

This was a joint effort that included many organizations, but particularly the various Minutemen chapters around the state and indeed the SC Minutemen Civil Defense Corps that operates out of the Greenville area.

We the people succeeded in retiring Scott Talley, as he tried to give himself a promotion to the senate.  Had he won, he would have been another incumbent, beholden to the lobbyists.  (Read the article below).

Bright defeats Talley

Lee Bright enjoyed his second run for the state Senate much more than his first.

Jake Knotts managed a win.  Apparently, he got a lot of Democrats who did not vote on June 10 to crossover and vote for him.  Given his reported behavior and disdain for the Constitution and the rule of law, it may take the federal government to remove him from office.  I still cannot believe the endorsement that The State Newspaper gave him, despite the acknowledgment of his lack of ethics.

Greenville County Councilman Tony Trout was elected four years ago for the simple reason of voting for the Martin Luther King Holliday.  That's Deep, isn't it?  That's your Chamber of Commerce "Downtown Crowd" of Greenville SC at your best.  He proved to be more than even they can handle.  And he too was FIRED!

I could go on and make commentaries about each incumbent that "we the people" managed to defeat, but that would serve no purpose.  Let me use this space, instead to encourage you to keep these newcomers in check.  Let's give them the necessary support and encouragement to succeed in Columbia.  By success, I mean, to keep them away from the lure of the lobbyists.  As we have learned, these lobbyists are using money, women and drugs.  It's like 1988 all over again.  We need Operation Lost Trust 2, the 21st Century Version!

As I have stated here before, it is clear that many incumbents in our state legislature are "owned" by the lobbyists.  Indeed, one lobbyists for a very powerful corporation made the following statement, "I own the legislature."  I hate to admit that I believe her.  I will never forget the statement given to me by a senate attorney when we were trying to get the immigration bill to go after private employers, "The Chamber of Commerce will not let us do that!"  Let us never forget that statement.
