Pelosi Says D.C. Should Continue Gun Regulation

regulation..yes...against possetion by felons and the mentally unstable...requiring concealed carry permit..requiring waiting period and background checks..commen sense steps carried out in hundreds or thousands of other communities in this country...out right ban on onership by anyone in the district for any reason...no that's unreasonable, and now unconstitutional. anyone who thinks banning guns will limit crime needs to reference the 50 year war on drugs...herion is 100% illegal....but you can get it if you want it bad enough...so how well is our "war" going..victroy in stght, or are we bogged down in an unwinnable quagmire??

Pelosi need I say anything more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pelosi needs to be confronted on her "look the other way" stance on the illegal, drug carrying, murdering, raping culture coming from south of the border. 

It is a shame that not one politician will publicly...face to face do that.

Pelosi Galore has struck again !  We can't drill and use our own oil, we may soon be paying $7 oo a gal for gas causing a total shutdown of our country and food riots and she comes up with this.

What  is the use of passing laws since some want to pick and choose which ones to obey?  This can't go on much longer..

We the people need too kick there butts out of office and send them too the country of choice but not here. We the people make the laws. Not the judges, This to the rest of you, we are doing too drill for oil and you can not stop us the people. Take out your picks and shvoels because this guy is going to dig for it if i find it are not. Pelosi is an ass pure and stupid. Like all commies that want us too be yes people. To hell with that you can not lock us all up. And i will be digging with my guns on my back.

I guess if Pelosi says it's ok to sort of ignore SCOTUS on the gun ruling, it's also ok to sort of ignore the ruling on the death penalty for the child rapist and kill him anyway......and it's ok to sort of ignore the ruling on giving rights to the terrorists at Gitmo and keep them there forever or try them by military tribunal.  You just have to love the thought processes of socialists who are intent on turning this Nation into a 'loyal subject' of the United Worthless Nations.

This woman has got to go!  There has to be someone with half a brain to replace this Mata Hari, but with her district being what it is, I am sure there would be another half-wit to take her place.

Pelosi is only stating the obvious and what the mayor of D.C. said he would do. They will register all guns, permits and fees to all gun owners complete with waiting periods, paper snafus and background checks that are duplicates and triplicates. All the while punishing the law-abiding and complaining about the high GUN crime.

Why would Pelosi not want D.C. ers to be armed ? She is rich, powerful and can get permits over the phone or hire personal security instantly. She just doesn't want the lowlifes, criminals (oh, AND the honest taxpaying law-abiding Joe/Joan) to be ARMED (that is so dangerous, we MUST protect them from themselves, she says).

I love how the Liberals are so quick to take MY FREEDOMS in their efforts to PROTECT me.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) says that despite the Supreme Court decision to strike down its gun ban, the District of Columbia will still be able to regulate firearms.

"I think it still allows the District of Columbia to come forward with a law that’s less pervasive," Pelosi said at her weekly briefing Thursday. "I think the court left a lot of room to run in terms of concealed weapons and guns near schools."

She's right that it leaves room for regulation... how much will be tested.

If the 2nd is a fundamental right it'll be hard to draft laws that pass the strict scrutiny test.

Pelosi and her posse are simply afraid of us and in the cold, dead things they call 'their hearts' they believe that the government...the People's Government...should have a total monopoly on (a) weapons & firepower, and (b) the ability to apply force in quelling dissent, which is a requirement in a People's Society because only deranged people could possibly object to the perfection imposed by benevolent Socialism.

The Left figures that for now they can write regulations and laws which make it difficult for qualified persons to own a firearm without violating the letter of the SCOTUS decision, and that eventually they will be able to:

1. Pack the Court with their justices who will reverse this decision or get a decision that so muddies the waters that prohibitive legislation can make firearm ownership virtually impossible without making it absolutely impossible.

Or...

2. With a Leftist Democrat President, large majorities in both houses of Congress and at least 37 state houses in Democrat hands, and with the media under their sway and fully aligned, they can introduce a new amendment that repeals the 2nd Amendment and authorizes Congress to enforce the repeal with legislation...and they can do this repeal effort without the consent of a single private citizen...all they have to do is have their partisans in 37 state legislatures sign-off...and all the while, the media will play every act of senseless violence as a reason to take guns away from the dangerous rabble -- us.

Oh, yeah...I am soooo looking forward to living in a People's Democracy.

She is a liberal. A hate America and all it stands for liberal. Did anybody here expect to see her cheer the SCOTUS desision? Heck NO! Right now her and her liberal comrad cowards are sceeming different ways of undermining the courts desision and the US constitution IE the second ammendment.

Given the current composition of the court the question is, "how wobbly is Kennedy?"

The inevitable challenges that will follow may be a good thing if the court can establish the right to keep and bear as a fundamental right.  If so, legislation seeking to restrict that right would need to be narrowly tailored to meet a compelling governmental interest and the least restrictive means of doing so.  It would be presumptively unconstitutional. 

There are enough pro-gun dems that I doubt an amendment proposal could get through Congress and it certainly could never pass 3 of 4 state conventions.. 14 states would kill it.  Texas, N. Dak, S. Dak, ID, WY, UT, AK, TN, KY, KS, NE, MS, AL, LA, WV, VE, AZ, ME and a couple others are not gonna let some snivlers take their guns.  

There are a bunch of old activists on the court.  If Obama gets elected he'll get to replace them with clones.  Bush made progress with wishy-washy O'Connor and less so with Renquist who hewed truer to originalism but progress none the less.  This fact alone is worth voting for McCain regardless of what one thinks of his policies in any area or group of them... the alternative is simply unacceptable imo.  We're too close to getting a court built with solid thinkers who make their rulings based on law rather than their preferred policy outcome.... hops off soap box ;)
