This is interesting and should be brought up!  They aren't even waiting for the election to plant the idea in the heads

When the Obama logo and presidential seal collide

The Obama campaign debuted a new logo Friday that bears a striking resemblance to the presidential seal. Photo credit: AP, White House.

CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) – Presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama sat down in Chicago Friday morning to discuss the economy with visiting Democratic governors, but all eyes were on the Illinois senator's podium bearing, what might be described as, a quasi-presidential seal – a new Obama campaign logo.

The seal includes the same bald eagle as the actual presidential seal clutching an olive branch and arrows in its talons, but instead of a shield covering the center of the eagle's body, the Obama version displays the campaign's trademark "O." Unlike the Presidential seal, which includes the words "Seal of the President of the United States" around the circumference, "Obama for America" and "www.barackobama.com" grace the top and bottom of Obama's.

Finally, just above the eagle, in Latin, are the words – "vero possumus" – which translates to "yes we can," the oft-heard chant at Obama rallies.

Side- by-side pictures of the two seals can be seen here:

They already HAVE a presidential seal.  Why would they want to change it now?

That's odd.  If you go to www.barackobama.com, you don't see any such logo.  It's still the circle with the red and blue stripes.

Of course McCain hasn't said anything about the ridiculous logo...like he should.

I think McCain is wise to not say anything about it.  There are far more important issues he should be speaking out on, not a stupid logo, regardless of what it might look similar to.

My point is that Obama is an obnoxious jerk and McCain should be pointing things like that out, even if it's just a snippet or jab in one of his speeches.  The fake logo speaks volumes to Obama's audacity and immaturity in the midst of his lack of experience and knowledge of current events.  It's the smart Alec punk versus the seasoned politician angle.  Besides, name one presidental election where there wasn't some mud-slinging.  It's a fact of political life and it's how elections are made or broken.

Mudslinging is more likely to break, not make, a campaign.  Especially if it's over something as ridiculous as a logo that isn't even on the guy's website.

McCain has toshow that he is the more mature of the two.

He is letting the surrogates go after Obama.

I am sure we will see something from a reporter on McCain's response to a question about the seal, soon.

And I'm sure McCain just brush it off and say we've got more important things to do than bitch about Obama's stage props. This will give a nice "High Ground" response to the Dems making fun of his baby poop green background two weeks ago, without making it an issue.

Any statement made by me is in my humble opinion (IMHO), unless followed by a reference. I take no responsibility for references, no matter how outrageous.

Patsy is right. This is a tempest in a teapot. Besides, the logo looks nothing like the presidential seal anyway. There are more important issues than a logo.

That's what I meant, use it as a tactic to take the moral high ground.

I guess it is a moot point now, they have withdrawn the obama seal, I just saw a CNN report by Jeanie Moos, and at the end the obama people said it was just a "one event" seal---I think they got a lot of flack from it as most of the people in the report thot he was WAY too arrogant--which he is...duhhhh...just another political thing that has backfired.

BTW, it DID look like the presidential seal--here is a link to a photo:

Other than the eagle and being round, there's not a lot of similarity.  The color scheme is totally different.  It doesn't have the shield in the middle, there are no stars around the edges, it doesn't say e pluribus unum, it has a website, etc.  Truly a mountain out of a molehill.

"Finally, just above the eagle, in Latin, are the words – "vero possumus" – which translates to "yes we can," the oft-heard chant at Obama rallies."

If this is true, that the Latin words translate to "yes, we can"....then I think that needs to be exposed.  That really irritates me.   I am sick and tired of hearing, si se puede anyway.

He "stole" the "yes we can" from his buddy, my scumbag governor, Duval Patrick.  The same one he snatched the "just words" speech from.  Duval's these was "Together we can" and the supporters would always answer, "YES WE CAN" when he'd deliver his promises!

Has anyone noticed how similar Obama's logo is to AT&T's?

Here in this part of the country, anyone who was "Very Possum" would be considered a sneaky SOB.

MMM!!!! maybe they should leave it on his logo after all.

I wouldn't be surprised.  Anyone who claims she did the nasty with a whole troop of Green Berets is capable of anything!

By golly, you're right!  Forget WLN -- Obama's a lowdown plagiarist!
