Abortion Still Matters

June 16, 2008

Dear Kinman,

Abortion is unfortunately a word we have become accustomed to hearing in America. To a certain extent, we have become desensitized to what abortion actually is. It is, literally, the killing of an unborn human being. An unborn human being created in the image of God.

American Family Association has championed the rights of the unborn for 31 years. Since abortion was legalized nationally in the Supreme Court’s Roe vs Wade decision in 1973, over 50,000,000 babies have been killed. What abortion-rights advocates won’t tell you are the consequences of abortion on the young ladies and women who have them. Participating in an abortion often proves to be devastating to them emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

  • The video series titled "Faces of Abortion," produced by our friends at The Justice Foundation, makes this point in a very up close and personal way. I have included three episodes here for you to watch. These programs are powerful stories from women who have gone through abortion, revealing the pain it caused, and how Jesus Christ has worked in their lives to provide forgiveness and healing. Click on any of these links to view any of the three episodes.

When I watched these testimonies I was vividly reminded again that we are in a war for the lives of babies and the souls of their mothers. You need to watch “Faces of Abortion.” AFA is making these three episodes available on one DVD for $15. That includes shipping and postage. You can order here. You can use this DVD in Sunday School, church groups, or give to women you know who have had an abortion and are suffering.

  • Maybe you have had an abortion. Or know someone who has. The Justice Foundation is promoting a vitally important project – Operation Outcry – which seeks to end abortion in America. Operation Outcry is an effort to have as many women and men as possible, who have been harmed by abortion, to share their testimonies in a written Declaration (legally admissible evidence). The U.S. Supreme Court has said that abortion can cause “severe depression and loss of self-esteem” but the Court said there is no reliable data on the size of the problem. That’s why AFA wants to help The Justice Foundation collect one million declarations that can be presented in future court cases as evidence that abortion harms women. It is a simple form. You can choose to use your full name, first name or initials only. Personal contact information will always be kept confidential. You can find the http://www.operationoutcry.org/pages.... target="_blank">Declaration form here.

Finally, there is also Christ-centered help and healing for those hurt by abortion, available through the 24-hour, seven-day-a-week National Helpline for Abortion Recovery, which AFA recommends. The toll-free Helpline number is 1-866-482-LIFE. The number is also on the bottom of the Declaration form.

Please join me in praying for an end to abortion in America. It is indeed a national sin that grieves the heart of God.
