ALERT !! CA. State Legislature considering two Bills that, if passed, will be devastating and cost-prohibitive for California Gun Owners and Vendors and Buyers of Ammunition.

Bill AB 2062 (DeLeon) [Ammo Registration] requires registration of sellers; and background checks and licenses for purchasers of ammunition, plus  extra 'transaction fee' per every purchase.  This Bill will be heard by Legislature 6/17/08.

Bill AB 2235 (DeSaulnier) ["Smart" Gun] will mandate all handguns sold will be required to be so-called 'smart' guns, being "owner-authorized" by biometric technology, functioning ONLY by recognizing owner by fingerprints and exact same grip and amount of pressure!  Any handgun NOT "owner-authorized" will be placed on DOJ's 'unsafe gun' list, and can not be sold or traded.  This technology, not yet available for firearms, is only 80% successful, in the BEST of demos with other applications (computers, doorlocks, cell phones, etc.).  But LAW will go into effect as soon as ANY COUNTRY or Company, offers handguns for retail sale with this 'smart gun' capability, without regard to RELIABILITY.  This Bill will be heard by Legislature 6/24/08.

PLEASE, immediately telephone or send FAX's to Legislators, expressing opposition to these two Bills, and asking them to VOTE "NO".

Help protect our Second Amendment Rights ... they are being taken away !!!!  And remember, often, as California goes, so goes the Nation !!!!

Wish I could do something, but I live here in the socialist state of Maryland.I can only pray that this Supeme Court comes down on the side of individuals having the right to own guns without restrictions at the end of June,or early July.

This is what I call gun control!  If you can't buy ammunition your gun is worthless!  This is a bunch of bull!  It doesn't matter if you live in CA. or not you should write to them and do whatever it takes to get their attention over this!  This is gun control through the back door!  Keep an eye on your state and make sure nothing like this starts up!

BLESS YOU, "Stop them at the border" for sending all those FAX's!!  We MUST make our opposition to these Bills known, to have any chance to stop them from becoming LAW!

"Lady Jane" is 'right-on' with her comment... this is not legislation for increasing safety as claimed,  it's 'backdoor' GUN CONTROL in disguise!!

Letters, FAX messages and phone calls ALL carry weight with the Assemblymembers, and are necessary and worth the effort.  (e-mails are largely ignored).  Note on the Legislator's Roster... all phone numbers reflect their District in the last two numbers... and if you change the first '0' to a '1', the changed number is then their FAX number.

If you can ONLY go on line and express your opinion, there's a short form available at www.assembly.ca.gov/acs/acsframeset2text.htm  ... you need to refer to the Bill's numbers (AB 2062 - Ammo Registration) and (AB 2235 - "Smart" Gun) and list your ZIP Code to ID your District... you can even remain anonymous.  The direct contact has more impact, but at least logging in OPPOSITION on the above site is better than doing nothing !!

It may be your CHOICE, NOT to own a firearm; but it is your RIGHT, and the  RIGHT of ALL OF US, TO OWN a firearm ..... a RIGHT we must ALL fight to protect.......  and we all need to do it NOW !!

If Guns are Outlawed, Only Outlaws Will Have Guns !!  Criminals Prefer Unarmed Victims ...  and Politicians Prefer Unarmed Subjects !!  And remember.... The SECOND AMENDMENT to The Constitution of the United States, was written to  secure and protect ALL THE REST !!

The question is: when California is done outlawing ammo and guns, do they outlaw steak knives and hammers like Britain has ? Still doesn't really bother the criminals. They seem more active and still armed in Britain.

Besides making something "against the law" DOES NOT make it stop. Proof is the full prisons in California. I think California is about to pass a law and create a new industry....smuggling.

Once again the Great State of California solidifies it's grip on liberal stupidity and ignorance.

Gunowners of CA:  If you want a handgun, better buy one now.  Better yet, buy 2 or 3.  If you don't reload your own ammo, learn.  Buy the tools and stock up on components.  Commercial ammo prices are already through the ceiling even without this extra "transaction fee" nonsense.

As an Arizona gunowner, reloader, and regular shooter, my State is in pretty good shape............so far.............but that could change overnight after a single election.

Sparks3 is right.  If we couldn't stop 'rum running' during prohibition, we sure aren't going to stop 'gun running' with draconian gun control legislation.

Ray P,

So you are saying that if you broke into someones home and they caught you in the act......your hands would overcome their gun? HA! That I'd like to see.

P.S. CHL holder here and I DO exercise the right. Not that my hands are not capable....they definitely are.....it is called.....The 2nd Amendment.

FIREARMS REFRESHER COURSE
These are especially for those of us who really love 'TRUISMS'.

FIREARMS REFRESHER COURSE

1.  An armed man is a citizen.  An unarmed man is a subject.

2.  A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
3.Colt:  The original point and click interface.

 4.  Gun control is not about guns; it's about control.

5.  If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?

6.  If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.

7.  Free men do not ask permission to bear arms.

8.  If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

9.  Those who trade liberty for security have neither.

10.  The United States Constitution (c) 1791.  All Rights Reserved.

11.  What part of 'shall not be infringed' do you not understand?

12.  The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others.

13.  64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.

14.  Guns only have two enemies; rust and politicians.

15.  Know guns, know peace, know safety.  No guns, no peace, no safety.

16.  You don't shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.

17.  911:  Government sponsored Dial-a-Prayer.

18.  Assault is a behavior, not a device.

19.  Criminals love gun control; it makes their jobs safer.

20.  If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson.

21.  Only a government that is afraid of its citizens tries to control them.

22.  You have only the rights you are willing to fight for.

23.  Enforce the gun control laws we ALREADY have; don't make more.

24.  When you remove the people's right to bear arms, you create slaves.

25.  The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control.

IF YOU AGREE, PASS THIS 'REFRESHER' ON TO TEN FREE CITIZENS.

Drunken people kill and mame far more than so called "Gun crimes".

Why not have a two week waiting or cooling off period before you purchase alcohol?

Secure the boarders. My son was murdered by a drunken illegal Mexican national who has never been caught. 07/02/06
