Today at the "What's New?" page of my website, you'll find two new items:
One is an essay predicting what Villaraigosa will do about the high price of gas -- raise your taxes and fees -- and explaining the steps he should be taking right now instead. Villaraigosa and his entourage are leaving today for a trip to Israel at your expense, so we'll have to wait for his return to see if my prediction turns out to be right.
The second item is a new radio for my campaign. You can hear it now if you don't want to wait to hear it on one of the few radio shows the hosts of which over local politics, i.e., Doug McIntyre (KABC 790), Kevin James (KRLA 870) and Terry Anderson (KRLA 870). Decide for yourself whether I used the word "Kafkaesque" correctly in a sentence.
In other news, we have almost crossed into six-figure fundraising territory. The count today is $98,625. I'd really like to soar well into six-figure territory before June 30, 2008, because that is the close of a reporting period for the City Ethics Commission. If we can get above that figure by that date, I think it will encourage other people to contribute, too. It's the old "no one wants to be the first couple on the dance floor syndrome." So if you haven't contributed already, this would be a particularly excellent moment to do so. Click here to help.
As for the Jamiel's Law petition, the City Clerk returned our draft for revisions to the Spanish-language portion. (I know; don't get me started.) The City Clerk staff, however, was very helpful, and yesterday I sent in the revised petition via FedEx. I'll let you know as soon as we have the green light, or "luz verde," as we must also call it.
Finally, I'm tentatively planning the "Rally in the Valley" for Saturday, June 28, 2008, in the afternoon, at CSUN. I'll let you know for sure once I've "nailed down" the arrangements. Pencil it into your calendar, would you?
