female soldierA pro-family activist and former presidential candidate says it is outrageous that military personnel in uniform, who use public transportation while traveling to the Pentagon, are being publically harassed by anti-war leftists.

The Air Force recently issued a security advisory, relating several incidents where military personnel have been approached by individuals expressing themselves as anti-government and shouting anti-war sentiments.

Gary Bauer, Chairman of American Values, says in one case a woman in uniform was followed as she exited a Washington, D.C., subway train and a left wing thug continued to berate her as she exited the metro station. Bauer believes there is a limit to free speech.

Is harassment of U.S. military personnel free speech?

"Freedom of speech, like all our liberties, has limitations on it. You can't drive a car down a suburban neighborhood at eleven o'clock at night with a loudspeaker on the top of it. And this fits into that category. When somebody is in a public place, they have a right not to be harassed," Bauer explains.

In fact, Bauer notes, harassment itself is against the law. "And in this case I would call it traitorous. If I'm on a subway or at an airport and see something like this happen, I for one will take action. I think this is an intolerable thing to be happening in our country," Bauer contends.

Bauer believes these protestors are being constantly urged by left wing blogs and websites to harass the military. And he says left wing politicians who compare U.S. troops to Nazis bear responsibility, too – as do those in the media who constantly present the troops in a negative way.

An eight pound shot put dropped from 3 feet on a toe really would hurt and who would know where it came from.

Sure hope more numbers or our military know how much they are respected by THE MAJORITY of Americans and don't focus on the traitors and nut cases among us. The more vocal WE become, the less often the jerks may think they can get away with disparaging our precious military men and women. I for one am not afraid to cut some jackass down for mistreatment and misbehavior when I see or hear it .... as is obvious that most, if not all on these posts feel the same way and wouldn't idly stand by in silence. Nope, I think the fools would end up wetting themselves quite readily. Rhonda

I'm also sure that the troops know that the American citizens respect all of the sacrifices they make on a daily basis.  If in fact this is or has happened I'm sure that it is a small minority of individuals that would do such a thing.  There are times when I think they are just trying to excite people and pull a fast one to get our freedom of speech curtailed.  I don't take anything they do nowadays for granted.  I'm always wondering if there is a goal behind making a big stink out of something.  Look what they are trying to do to Lou Dobbs.

From the article above:

"Freedom of speech, like all our liberties, has limitations on it. You can't drive a car down a suburban neighborhood at eleven o'clock at night with a loudspeaker on the top of it. And this fits into that category. When somebody is in a public place, they have a right not to be harassed," Bauer explains.

(this has nothing to do with freedom of speech.)  This is nothing more or less than disturbing the peace.  There are laws against disturbing the peace.  This is blowing this out of proportion...

One issue that should be kept in focus, though, Lady Jane, is that the disturbing the peace is allowed enmass when it is ANTI-AMERICAN, ANTI-MILITARY, AND ANTI-LEGAL (illegal aliens and their supporters).

When We The People protest against OUR beliefs being trash-canned, we're labled "racist", "hate-mongers", " "homophobes", etc.

OUR freedom of speech is curtailed and belittled by media and those we protest in difference to. Never an equal playing field, so it's naturally frustrating, to say the least. WE are marginalized and our opponents are tauted as correct, right, deserving to be heard, yet WE are shouted down, or simply not afforded the equal format or air time as they.  They complain and whine and get heard ad nauseum - we complain and we hear SILENCE, generally from those biased media types. THANK GOD FOR GLENN BECK AND LOU DOBBS, otherwise, we'd STILL be virtually unheard and unknown. Rhonda
