In video circulating on the Internet, Pfleger said the former first lady expected to win the nomination before Obama's sudden popularity.

"She just always thought that, 'This is mine. I'm Bill's wife. I'm white.' ... And then, out of nowhere, came 'Hey, I'm Barack Obama." And she said, 'Oh damn, where did you come from? I'm white. I'm entitled. There's a black man stealing my show,"' Pfleger said at Trinity United Church of Christ.

He then went on to parody Clinton, sobbing and wiping his face with a handkerchief.

"She wasn't the only one crying," he said. "There was a whole lot of white people crying."

What do you make of all the resentment against whites coming from preachers affiliated with Obama?

Sorry.

I lmisspelled Pfleger on the heading and don't know how to fix it.  Will one of our moderators do it for me?

As for my opinon, I guess I'm not surprised.  I worked with a black bailiff  who used to like to tease me about reparations for black slavery.  I was never quite sure whether he meant it or not.

I always argued that my family was not from the south and never had slaves and I wasn't going to pay a dime.

I guess I'm afraid Obama might come into office with an ingrained agenda to fix all the wrongs done to blacks, real or imagined.

Finally saw the clip on TV during lunch -- I am in absolute, total disbelief that so many negatives can occur in one place -- and a "church" at that!  Hate whitey, hate whitey ....... real Christian!  IMHO, bye bye tax exemptions!

If anybody in America thinks racism will ever go away ...................

If this speech hurts Obama, it'll be only be temporary as the Liberal Drive-Bys will rally around him as always to try to soften the blow which unfortunately will work. I'm waiting for the long-awaited love affair between Obama and the Liberal Drive-By media which should start after the Convention.

Thanks to whoever fixed the spelling.

Reverend Jeremiah Wright might have been a fluke but now that Pfleger has come out that makes two strikes against Obama as far as I'm concerned.  I'm kind of glad all the racism and resentment are coming out.  I don't know of any white churches that have turned "hating" into a part of their religion.  It bothers me that the audiences of these two preachers were so ready to jump on the racist bandwagon.  I don't begrudge them the elation of having a black run for president.  It's an historical event.   What I don't like is this our race against your race attitude when whites, in general, have been conditioned to accept everyone, every race with magnanimity.

Perhaps I'm just more sensitive because the politically correct suppression I've been feeling and seeing limits me as a white person while other races are just going at it tooth and nail.  They can say or suggest anything against whites and get away with it.  I want a level playing field.

Don't forget that Obama is still black, and blacks still deserve entitlements.  Nothing will ever change that.

When you keep an eye on some of the interviews in which folks are being asked why they vote for Obama, some of the answers are indeed;" He's so cute, he is black, he can boogie, and he is going to change things." When asked what he is going to change, all you get is a blank stare.  Go figure.

BTW, I feel with you on the bailiff issue.  I worked with " awoman of color" once, and she kept calling me vanilla wafer.  I asked her why she did that, and she told me it's "because your skin is white".  So I asked her if she would sue me for discrimination if I called her chocolate puddin.  She called me all kinds of names after that,Foot in mouth  Vanilla wafer was not one of them.

Interesting.

I used to use a lip pencil to make my bottom lip look fuller.  Once, a black friend asked me why I did that and I told her.  She gave me a  knowing look that made me feel strange.  Looking back I should have asked her why she straightened her hair and that might have put things in perspective.  We were both following society's perception of beauty according to the perceived inadequacies of our different races.

Looking back, the bailiff I worked with was into everything black:  black music, black magazines, black power.  He bragged the government sent him to school when he left a job he didn't like and his daughter was attending college on a scholarship because she was a minority.  I remember feeling a little jealous.  I couldn't afford to quit my job to look for another and I doubted the government would help me in any way.  And, the governemnt wasn't going to give my children scholarships.

I can honestly say I never took a dime from the government nor did I expect the government to give me anything.  Whatever I wanted I worked for.  While Reverend Wright argued "different" was not "defecient" when speaking of black speech, Bill Cosby told the NAACP just the opposite.  He said learn to speak English and stop shooting one another.

Good idea, elaina -- take care of that will ya?  Laughing

As far as the first black president .............. first, he is half white; second, the other day I saw an article or email about Obama's "race" -- I thought I kept it but can't find for the life of me!  It said he was 50% white (mother) and the other half was really only 6.25% black with the other 43.75% Arab -- not black -- because his father was 1/8 (12.5%) black but 7/8 (87 1/2%) Arab!!  So based on that simple math, Obama is actually more white than anything else -- think someone should tell him -- elaina, could you take care of that too while you're at it?  Smile

Elaina --

I agree with you on the Obama "blank stare" people.  Most of them have no idea what he's going to change -- they just know they want change.  So many are uninformed and shallow.

It's as if we've turned into a nation of celebrity worshiping  followers waiting for the prettiest and the newest fad to satisfy our desires and magically make our lives happier.

May I consult with Joe and Bill first?

BTW, is that why they wondered if Bami is black enough?  You know, when he first appeared on the horizon.

HUGE ditto! And Bill Cosby would tell people (doesn't matter what color they are) to get off their lazy bums and DO SOMETHING with their life.

As for dear outspoken Rev Pfleger....Hillary does not think she is entitled to the Presidency because she is white.....she thinks she is entitled BECAUSE SHE IS A GREEDY, IGNORANT, POWER HUNGRY HO- and just because she is "Hillary".....

Anyone can be a "reverend" these days...even small minded bigots like Rev Pfleger and Rev Wright who prefer to spew venom from the pulpit than rightfully teach about love and forgiveness....

These type of Reverends are fraudulent morons as are the people who follow them.....

Ever watch Leno's Jay-walking segments, where he asks people on the street questions that anyone with a double digit IQ should be able to answer -- usually a "ditzy" response or the "deer in the headlights"!

And BTB, as far as the "HO" statement above, I'm gonna hafta report ya to Al Sharpton .............. sorry -- you brought it on yourself!  Wink

That's it. I will start a petition to outlaw Kool Aid. Mabbe that's the secret.

Can you imagine for a moment the reverse scenario? A white reverent saying things like "the black people invented Aids as a payback for slavery"? Or in reverse Pflegers case:"Obama will win the nomination because he is black and he is from the south side of Chicago."

Boo on me. I just watched the clip on Fox.  Pfleger only sounds black, he is white.  My bad.  The above is still true though.

I watched in interview where two girls were asked why they vote for Bami.  They said " he can dance, and he has a good foreign policy."  When asked what part of his 'foreign policy'they liked best, they said: "Well, that's what our parents think."  Imagine that. Teens listening to their parents.Undecided

Well I didn't want to spell it out...a little too strong on the verbage when "describing" Hillary?! Well she is one Jim.....a "political" tramp...is that better?

Oh and Al Sharpton? What a pathetic waste of humanity......I'm afraid ole Al never made it out of the "single digits" for his IQ test results....

I remember hearing "Black is Beautiful" for the first time and thinkng that was silly.  Then I thought, well, it must be a campaign to make blacks feel better about themselves and that's alright.  Then I started running into blacks who had changed history by claiming blacks had invented this and that, you know, invented the light bulb, and I thought again, it must be something to enlarge their egos and I started to question them.

While most whites have worked or voted for equality between the races, I don't think most whites like the idea of black superiority nor should they.  Maybe this type of thinking is the natural progression of a race fighting to find their place.  Maybe they have to go from equal to better and then drop down again to equal before it's over.
