Juarez, Mexico more dangerous than Baghdad, Iraq

Well 11 more people died in Juarez, Mexico.  Juarez, Mexico is more dangerous than Baghdad, Iraq.  Over 300 people have died this year.  Both the City Council and County Commissioners of El Paso, Texas want El Paso to be a sanctuary city.  They both oppose the building of the fence to protect our borders.

And still there has not been a travel warning from our government that mexico is unsafe for Americans....the DFW newspapers are full of 'deals" for vacationing in Mexico!  Everyone of these travel agencies should be forced to put a banner across their ads....TRAVEL ADVISORY IN EFFECT!

If only thr purpose of our government was to protect Americans .....

Actually, yes there have been state department travel advisories for YEARS with regard to Mexico...I know, I used to read them before my clients traveled to any of the areas- and that was back in the late 90's.

Traveling to Mexico as frequently as I do I do not need a Travel Advisory from the government to tell me how dangerous it is. You only hear of the problems close to the border and that is what is printed in the papers. No one has any idea how many people have died or disappeared in the resort cities like Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco and a miriad of other cities.  My wife and her brother are in Mexico today and I hold my breath until they are back across the border. All tourist meccas in Mexico are traps for ignorant travelers, robbers on motorcycles are very common, rapist no problem all Mexicans look alike in these places. They disappear into the Jungles never to be seen again ha ha.

Remember though Blaze, many who disappear were acting irresponsible in a foreign country by not taking heed or using common sense . You can't just waltz down any street in the world as an American these days and not be noticed. Many of the people in resort areas who disappear wander off by themselves at night or are so drunk they don't know what they are doing.

For decades the zona rosa in Acapulco (which used to be a top, top night spot in the 60's and 70's) has been notorious for "disappearances" of tourists. It was once rumored after that horrible cult uncovered in Matamoros....palo mayombe and santeria to the extreme were being used because superstitious drug lords thought it would protect them. If you remember anything about the "Matamoros incident" it was just sick, sick, sick!  They abducted that college student Mark (can't remember his last name)....while he was drinking with his buddies...he was separated from the group for just a few minutes and then they found his remains in a black cauldron and some buried in matamoros- he was used in one of their rituals. Many who disappear are lost to the human trafficking trade which nets close to 7.1 billion dollars per year from this area as estimated by the CIA in a report a few years back.

Very sad, very dangerous world. A responsible American understands how to travel while abroad....be street smart EVERYWHERE!

I remember Matamoros well a friend of mines son was one of the victims. His remains were never found. His name was Brightwell and I cannot remember his first name for the life of me. In Cancun the girls disappear into the mangrove swamps from the bars that overhang the water. Helped over the edge to a waiting boat never to be heard from again. You don't hear about them because it would hurt the tourist trade.
