Shooting of Koran 'poor judgment'

Senior army strategist Bob Maginnis says a U.S. soldier clearly used poor judgment when he used a Koran for target practice in Iraq on May 9.

The incident incited anger that has been felt all the way to the White House. A staff sergeant assigned to the 64th Armored Regiment put several rounds into a Koran at a shooting range of a police station on the outskirts of Baghdad. The bullet-ridden Koran was discovered two days later.
 
The soldier has since been relieved of his duties and sent home to the U.S. where he is expected to face charges. The incident created such a stir that even President Bush issued an apology to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, and several top commanders in Iraq issued similar apologies.
 
Lt. Colonel Bob Maginnis (USA-Ret.) says this is a very sensitive issue. "I just think it's poor judgment," he says bluntly. "It reflects poorly upon professionalism in the U.S. Army, and it doesn't serve our long-term best interests. We don't necessarily have to agree with their faith, but at least I think we can respect that they have a faith and they hold it dear -- and all that is [the shooting of the Koran] is rubbing their nose in the mud, figuratively speaking," the Pentagon advisor explains.
 
A soldier, according to Maginnis, must display a certain respectable behavior when representing his country. "It's a cultural sensitivity that we have to embrace when you're representing your government," the retired Army officer explains. "As a member of the armed forces, you're an ambassador; and you're expected to say and do those things that bring honor to your country, and not dishonor.
 
"And at the same time, if you further antagonize people that potentially are your enemies, then all that does is give them reason to come after you -- and you don't need to generate that, especially in a war zone," Maginnis contends.
 
Maginnis believes the sergeant could be reduced in rank, fined, and even jailed for his poor judgment.

I'd say the Muslim terrorists who chopped off some heads of those who didn't agree with their  bloody lifestyle also used " poor judgement"

Why arn't we hearing from them?  It's always the USA who gets the blame and we are sick of it !

I think if there weren't all the PROOF that they can (and DO!) rape, beat, torture, disfigure their own girls and women when they report any "perceived" wrongdoing, OR when a female reports being RAPED she is then murdered for having been raped(!), perhaps then I'd have a moments' pause about their whining about a BOOK. For heavens sake - do we go into murderous rages when OUR BIBLE, OUR FLAG OR EVEN OUR PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SLAUGHTERED BY THOSE PIGS? We SHOULD HAVE, but didn't.  They should've annihilated long ago - like when Carter and Clinton were in office. This nonsense would have never occured had either of them done their JOB as Commander-In-Chief to serve and protect Ameria and our citizens. Too much to ask from inept fools and cowards though. 

The fanatics have no problem destroying OUR BIBLES, but they are SOOO MUCH MORE RELIGIOUS than we, so I guess that it's okay. Riiight. WRONG!  Those animals who do those horrible acts against their own females are no more religious than a pig. And yeah, that's what I believe THEM TO BE - PIGS! No MAN rapes, beats, or disfigures girls and women. Simple as that.
