13 illegal immigrants taken into custody

A stop of a Ford E350 van for an equipment violation on Interstate 80 in Boggs Township Tuesday evening led to the detention of 13 people who state police say are in the country illegally.

According to state police, the eastbound van was stopped about 7:30 p.m. near mile marker 157. None of the 13 people in the vehicle was able to produce identification adn all spoke little or no English.

They were taken to the Rockview station where they were fingerprinted, and it was determined that all 13 were illegally in the country, state police said. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officials were contacted.
