Illegal immigration has been termed a “victimless crime” by open borders advocates. Yet the influx of illegal aliens over American borders hurts both Americans and the illegal aliens themselves. According to FSM Contributing Editor Mike Cutler:
Illegal aliens are subject to slum-like living conditions
Illegal aliens are often exploited by their employers
Unprotected borders mean that Americans are subject to infiltration by violent criminals and potential terrorists
The presence of illegal aliens willing to work for a pittance drives down wages, which affects the ability of Americans and legal aliens to support their families
There is also the issue of Social Security fraud and identity theft, a growing crime category that victimizes thousands of Americans every year.
And, as previously noted by Family Security Matters, deadly diseases such as tuberculosis (which were in steady decline over the past half century) are seeing a resurgence within the immigrant population. If illegal immigrants are streaming over the border unchecked and unscreened, a potential health disaster for all Americans is in the making.
Among those concerned about the impact of illegal immigration on our nation is the American Legion, which has launched a nationwide outreach program to alert Americans not only to the dangers posed by unchecked illegal immigration, but the federal government’s apparent reluctance to seriously address the issue.
The American Legion is the nation’s largest veterans’ organization.
Marty Conatser, the Legion’s national commander, said, “American Legion members have served in the U.S. Armed Forces throughout the world so that Americans can feel safe at home. We have seen Third World countries. We have seen poverty, political instability, disease and war. Today we see the threat that open borders present to our homeland.
“With more than 14,000 posts and 2.7 million members, I am asking Legionnaires everywhere to start the national dialogue that needs to happen now. As a nation at war with operatives sworn to kill Americans, our government must shut down our open borders and take decisive action to address a crippling national problem.”
The Legion has prepared a free booklet entitled A Strategy to Address Illegal Immigration in the United States (available for downloading here), which outlines the problem (Crime and Terrorism, Education, Disease, Employment and Wages) as well as a multiple strategy solution. A hardcopy of the book is also available by sending an e-mail to acy@legion.org.
Those who oppose illegal immigration have often been labeled racist or xenophobic. Conaster seeks to rectify that misconception.
“The American Legion is very much in support of legal immigration. Indeed the ancestors of countless Legionnaires immigrated here from around the world. However, we are a nation of laws and since we all swore to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States when we donned our uniforms, we believe strongly that the security and sovereignty of our nation must be our highest priority through stringent enforcement of our immigration laws.”
I have always had great respect for the members of the American Legion and the job they did to protect our nation in times of war. But now they have another battle to fight. Their work is not done.
I believe one way they can continue this fight is to bring back a sense of patriotism to this country. Making their appearance more apparent through parades and memorial services is the obvious method.
Our country seems to have lost the patriotism last seen after the destruction of the twin towers. No longer are patriotic songs played on the radioand when was the last time you saw a John Wayne movie on TV? Our war movies used to portray us as the "good guy". Current movies ignore this. Our Pledge of Allegiance is threatened in schools and public events - often disrespected and ignored. How many American flags do you see on private homes - even on Memorial Day or the Fourth of July?
No foreign flag, Mexican or otherwise, should be allowed to fly over the American Stars and Stripes. No one should be allowed to disrespect this symbol of our country and its people. I have seen it flown upside-down (a way to express a need for help, SOS), which may be true but should be an American's choice. We have to restore this pride and patriotism in our country - and those who choose to live here should learn we are serious.

How is patriotism born? I don't know why I love my country so.....and why I'm so fiercely protective of it, but I suspect it had a lot to do with my American History classes. Are they still teaching it these days? Even if they are, I am certain they get a watered down version because of bilingualism. The psychology the globalists have used in promoting their agenda has affected every aspect of life. Fill a prescription at Walgreens - you'll find the warning available in 20 different languages; pick up the phone - press "1" for English, and of course, the politically correct crowd has done the most to stifle patriotism by making us feel guilty and almost ashamed to speak of our heritage. And don't forget we've been called racists and bigots and xenophobes, even nativists, by our own Republican party when we tried to stop amnesty last year.
An educator friend told me in an e-mail that a teacher had her class write essays about the dangers of nationalism and incorporated that into the global agenda of "we all live in the same world" theme.
Pity!
During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act. ~ George Orwell
There are a great many more veterans who do not belong to the American Legion, but still feel the same way about this unchecked invasion and allowing our avowed enemies to enclave in many areas(I am a decorated disabled vet not in the legion or VFW but the DAV). >>>I see that the 10k+ per year American deaths from homicides(using deadly weapons to kill Americans is war)are not listed as another reason(Rep. Steve King, 2005). It is mentioned to enforce our immigration laws, but they are far too lenient in who they let in(and too many at 1.2 million per year up from 180k before 1966). >>>What is not addressed is the disobedience of Oaths of Office and the Constitutional necessity of stopping foreign invasion. The Abrogation of Treaty by Mexico and the bonifide invasion began at least 16 years ago(with teachings, pamphlets, and hundreds of border incursions). >>>This is a De Facto State of War which is not addressed. It is far beyond enforcing immigration laws, and >>collecting fines owed by the illegals, deportations, and >>>collecting fines from Americans who have aided, abetted, and encouraged illegal aliens. Calling them "undocumented immigrants" is a falsehood, and so is calling them "poor people who just want to work for their families". They are nothing but invaders out to conquer the USA through any lie, and any means including the easy recourse including having babies as weapons(biological warfare with the influx of diseases as part of it) and breaking our financial backs with costs and wage suppression--economic warfare. >>So the latinos and many moslems, Mexican backed, and with Mexico, have been at war with the USA in every way, weapons, invasion, biological, incursions, psychological (with the media), and economic--and we have NOT been fighting back as per the Constitution(with 150k forgotten American dead). 80 million armed Americans and their families are mighty pissed off, and being ignored. Many of them are veterans still willing to die for America.<<<
With every action and decision think of the consequences 7 generations from now----Ute Rule of Life
Ever wonder how these poor, poor immigrants can scrape up the $5000+/- to pay for their transportation into this country? Or, perhaps it has already been paid up front through the billions of dollars of "hurricane" aid to the Mexican government? Could one or more governments be financing these moves? Ah, yes, I am being conspiratorial - or am I? Will I ever know the truth?
God bless all our veterans, whether they belong to the American Legion or were not within the eligibility dates. They, at least, were working for us.
