A movie opening in theaters nationwide today examines how educators and scientists are being ridiculed, denied tenure, and even fired for questioning Darwinism.
The movie is called Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed and stars Ben Stein. Filmed in documentary style, Expelled shows the viewer how the debate about the origin of life is one-sided on college campuses and academic institutions worldwide.
Also featured in the documentary are professors on both sides of the issue -- those who have been blacklisted because they question Darwinism, and those who defend evolution and refuse to believe that the universe could have been brought about by an intelligent being.
Stein, who is a former presidential speechwriter, actor, and author, finds it amazing that many of the intellectual elite allow no dissent from Darwin's theory of random mutation and natural selection.
"The intelligentsia said at a certain point that Adolf Hitler was the wave of the future, and so the intelligentsia is often wrong and in fact I'd say they're wrong at least as often as they're right," explains Stein. "We aim to show that they're wrong again. You know what else? We're sick of being pushed around by the intelligentsia."
According to Stein, Darwinism played a role in the Holocaust as the social elite of that time used Darwinian principles to justify purging society of "inferior" races. He also warns that in today's culture, Darwinism is continuing to have a negative impact on social and moral issues.
Stien and the movie's producers are hopeful Expelled will spark more freedom when it comes to teaching about the origins of life.
The teaching of the biblical creation story, including "intelligent design" has no place in science classes. Instead, they can be taught in comparative religion classes, history of religion, optional Bible history classes, etc.
Americans are so enamored of equality that they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom. (Alexis de Tocqueville)
Just be a scientist without restrictions. Whatever the data produces is fine.
Imagine you are walking through the desert. You look down and see a small object in the sand and you pick it up. It has buttons and a dial. It makes sounds. So you say to yourself, "I wonder what rock this came from?"
I think not.
Instead you would say, "Who made this?"
There is a plethora of data in science, all by its lonesome self, that screams out, "Some one made us!"
Many scientists I know realize this and want to publish it.
Remember, the Bible is thrown out. And this is the very best data from the very best scientists.
So, why not publish it?
Because evolution is a religion and it must ruthlessly crush all opposition. If the real truth came out it would be thrown into the garbage heap of history.
I've known all this for years since I'm a scientist.
Last night my wife and I went to see Expelled. I can say it is accurate. Go see it.
I have to agree with Imafreeagent on this one. Creation theory has no place in a science class. Keep the theory in church, the home, Sunday school, or religious classes. The earth is obviously millions of years old, not the few thousand some would have us believe based on a book that was written to try to explain extremely complicated things to a very simple and uneducated people.

Albert Einstin I think said it best.....it's not a question of whether God created the universe....the question is, did He have a choice? Yes, He created it - or allowed it to be created - millions of years ago. Anything since that time, however, has been nature, time, and evolution, with or without His guiding hand.

OK, let's say I agree with the both of you on this one. If Creation is seen as a theory, then Evolution is a theory as well, and both should be taught as an elective. You can' t have it both ways.
And here is a question for all of you: (not that I think IMA and Patsy are atheists)
Why do atheists fight a God they don't believe to exists?
Evolution is not a theory....it is a proven FACT. Creation is a theory....surely no one in this day and age truly believes God came down here, slapped some dust and clay together and presto, there was Adam, then yanked a rib and presto there was Eve.
Atheists fighting a God? Keeping unproven theory in the church which promotes it, not in a science class is "fighting a God"? I don't think so.

Evolution is not only not proven, evolutionists have been thrown out of scientific conventions for not adhering to the scientific method to prove their thesis.
Creation as a fact is supported by valid science. This is what all the hubbub is about. Evolutionists in their own conventions have said and it is written that "The real scientific evidence supports creation - and WE MUST DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO HIDE IT."
I'll go one step farther. My verse at the bottom of my posts refers to the flood. There is so much scientific evidence to support the fact that the flood happened it is incredulous that it is not on the front page of scientific publications.
I could go on and on here for days about the immense volumes of evidence but my wife would drag me away from this keyboard.
I'll even go further and say that there is substantial evidence that this Earth is 6000 years old. This evidence has been coming out of experiments done at Princeton, in Italian universities, and in Russia. It appears that the speed of gravity is measurable and is 2 x 10 to the 10th times the speed of light. The speed of light at one time equalled the speed of gravity. If Einstein were alive he'd be having a blast with this one.
Well, Greg, you're free to believe whatever lame and undocumented theory you want. But 6000 years old is ridiculous! Take a look at the Grand Canyon!! Take a look at fossils uncovered at LaBrea, etc.
Like I said, the bible was written in simplistic terms to help a simple people understand complicated things. There were floods in earth's history.....but did someone build a boat and collect animals two by two? Of course not. The seas turned red....not because Moses held a staff out over the waters, but because there was a red tide. The sea split, not because of Moses calling on God, but because of tsunamis, tornadoes, etc.
Evolution IS proven fact.....creation is theory. In fact, it doesn't even classify as theory. It's story.

It takes more faith to believe in darwinism then Creation. On his death bed darwin admitted that it could not be proven. till is day it is not proven. show me,your proof. You Can not. God Made it all. And the more scientist dicover the more they know evolution can not be. And when they spake out on it the atheist attack them as nuts because they do not want, to except the fact that, only A Creator could have made it all. Look at a car, watch, home, ect. How did they come about. By Chance? Look at the skies. the stars, moon and sun, by Chance? God Made it all and I see it in the life of a baby. This did not happen by Chance. Blow up any thing as an experiment, to see if it comes together. You can not get order out of confusion. GOD made the world and all that is in it.
Pastor, you cannot show concrete and scientific proof of a literal interpretation of the bible for how the earth and man came to be. Do you think maybe, just MAYBE, God gave us the knowledge to find the REAL truth, rather than believe an ancient STORY told to an ancient and simple people? This isn't a question of faith, or greater faith. It's a question of REALITY and FACTS!
Your comparison to cars, watches, houses, etc. is lame. Those are man made objects....not creations of nature or God or evolution or happenstance.
As I've said, I'm more inclined to believe along the same lines as Einstein....did God have a CHOICE in setting the wheels in motion in creating the universe? And you will never EVER have any scientists worth his salt PROVE that God did anything more than start the ball rolling in that creation. That is NOT saying that stars "just happened". That is NOT saying that man created the earth. Go back to your earliest learnings of the beginning of life....back to those tiny little molecules of carbon and water and oxygen, etc. Because man evolved from those tiniest beginnings of life through all the stages of evolutionary development does NOT mean that God had no hand in it. Merely that He didn't come down and say, "Well, today I am going to make an amoeba, and then I'm going to make a fish, and then I'm going to make an alligator, and then I'm going to make a whale, and then I'm going to make a monkey, and then I'm going to make a man and then a woman, and then a rose and then a tree and then a daffodil and then a daisy and then corn, and then wheat, and then a mountain and then a river, and on and on and on. Is He any less the creator if he ALLOWED those things to happen?
But, you're certainly more than welcome to stay in the 16th century if you like. It's a free country. But I defy you to tell me the Grand Canyon is only 6000 years old. Or fossils found in the LaBrea tar pits are less than 6000 years old. Or a mountain. Or the ocean. It defies all logic and common sense to believe any such thing. And that is NOT an atheistic viewpoint.
For the record, you just lost your argument with your last sentence. God did NOT make this computer, or my phone or my printer or my house or my car or my pots and pans or my chair, or the roads I drive on or the stores I go to or the medicines I take, etc. Or, did He allow us to have the knowledge and inspiration to make all those things?

Patsy when we stand before our Lord you can tell him how lame he is. Everything is so complex. The eye it self, has one million contection that star at opposite ends of the brain and eye then connect. No, GOD made us. An I know that this all did not happen by is self is a lie from hell by the father of all lies. Why because he wants no one to love GOD and to worship him. I for one know that with the complexity of everthing to happen by chance is beyond numbers.
I can assure you pastor, I am not the least bit concerned about acknowledging a belief in evolution to you, Jesus, God, or anyone else. You must not read well as I never said God was lame, nor did I say anything happened "by chance". Now, if you want to remain in 16th century thinking, that's entirely your perogative. But God gave man a brain to THINK and LEARN and GROW in KNOWLEDGE, not to remain stagnant in prehistoric ancient theories.

Patsy, this is one argument you won't win. I've studied this for 30 years and the volume of evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of a young Earth. The problem is the liberals have been in control of academia and ruthlessly fight against any of this data getting into public hands.
Expelled points out just how vicious this battle is. 30+ year scientists with Ph.D.'s who have casually mention their support are fired almost immediately. I'm telling you the evolutionists are absolutely petrified of any of this information leaking out. They really do know what the data says and they are almost peeing in their pants.
Now the idea of a "young Earth" probably sets you back a couple of steps. Let me know when you get back on your feet and I'll try and help you out.

Pastor, throw out your Bible. It does not have anything to do with this. This really is PURE SCIENCE. This is NOT A RELIGIOUS DISCUSSION.
