Wal-Mart to Film Gun Sales in Bid to Fight Crime

NEW YORK -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc, the world's largest retailer, unveiled plans on Monday to film its gun sales in the United States and create a computerized log of purchases in a bid to stop guns falling into the wrong hands.

Wal-Mart, which is the largest seller of firearms in the United States, agreed a 10-point code, which also includes rigid inventory controls, with a bipartisan coalition of Mayors Against Illegal Guns led by New York's Michael Bloomberg.

The retailer said it will develop a first-of-its-kind computerized crime gun trace log that will flag purchases by customers who have previously bought guns later recovered in crimes.

"Wal-Mart currently uses a strong point of sale system," said J.P. Suarez, senior vice president and chief compliance officer of Wal-Mart. "This code is a way for us to fine-tune the things we're already doing and further strengthen our standards. We hope other retailers will join us."

The Responsible Firearms Retailer Partnership is designed to strengthen the points in the gun purchasing system that criminals have exploited in the past, Wal-Mart and the Mayors Against Illegal Guns said.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, 46 percent of its criminal gun trafficking investigations involved cases in which someone who is not legally allowed to purchase a firearm does so through the use of a proxy, known as a straw buyer.

100% Illegal. They can't even track down someone using stolen ID when they have a clear shot of the individual.

Who gives a rat's ass what Wal-Mart does?  (AKA Immigrant mart)  I NEVER shop there simply because they give grants to La Raza and are part of the globalist agenda.  They are one of the companies meeting in New Orleans to discuss merging our nations.  If that is not enough to make you puke,  think about how Wal-Mart profits from you.  They import almost all of their goods, cutting American jobs and then pay their employees bare bottom wages with little to no benefits.  These employees have to use public benefits that come at a cost to taxpayers like yourself.  So that dollar you are saving under the disgusting, generic yellow happy face is costing you 5.

JimA,  You are right.  We stopped shopping at WalMart years and years ago.  But there are so many out there who don't know or care what WalMart is really all about.  I tell everyone as much as I can but I don't know if it helps.  Sometimes I think people see me as the town nutcase.  I don't care though.  Some day down the road they will see that I was right but by then it will be too late.

I don't mean to get religous here on this subject.  but to many Jesus was a nutcase.  Some people won't believe what is going on until their kids are starving and they are homeless.  Even then they will probably blame it on the "mortgage crises".

There is no point to this other than pure and simple harrassment. The point of this is to "reduce crime"????? Get serious. Do they really think CRIMINALS are going to buy their firearms at frickin' WAL-MART??? Someone send these idiots a quarter so they can go buy a clue for God's sake.

Wal-Mart sells prescription drugs all day long that, if used improperly, can result in sickness or death. Do you see them setting up cameras at the prescription counter to "reduce drug addiction, trafficking, and illegal selling of prescription drugs"???? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say HELL NO they aren't doing that.  And they aren't doing it at car dealerships either. Cars (driven by drunks) are responsible for way more deaths than ANY firearm bought at Wal-Mart or any other reputable firearms dealership.

Wal-Mart is doing nothing more than putting political correctness above treating their customers with respect, as Wayne LaPierre so eloquently pointed out in his article in America's 1st Freedom magazine.

This is just another attempt by the gun-banners to put into effect some blatantly stupid policy that they THINK will solve gun crime problems. And don't even get me started on Obama bin Laden Barrack's voting record on anything related to gun legislation. Hillary is a right-wing conservative next to that moron where the 2nd Amendment is concerned. They BOTh are morons and seem to think that our Constitution should be subject to presidential or liberal line-item vetos. Get serious. If Obama or Hillary gets in, we're in bad shape. It won't be any better with McCain either, in my humble opinion, but at least maybe McCain won't stomp on the Constitution and Bill of Rights (unless he truly is a G.W. Bush clone, which I'm starting to think he is).

It's time we ramp up the letters to Congress and the Senate and tell them to pull their heads out of their collective backsides and stop this "King is Law" mentality and return to the founding principles of the Constitution, which was stated as "Lex Rex", or "Law is King." Stop changing things just because you don't like it.

Good day to all!
