Immigration & Customs Enforcement reports 44 percent increase in deportation

The Business Journal of Phoenix - by Mike Sunnucks Phoenix Business Journal

The number of illegal immigrants deported by the federal government is on the rise.

The U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement agency reports that it deported 280,000 people during the most recent fiscal year ending Sept. 30. That is a 44 percent jump from the previous fiscal years when 195,000 illegal immigrants were deported, according to the federal agency.

The Bush administration has been promising stiffer immigration enforcement actions against illegal immigrants and businesses that hire them.

ICE has arrested more than 600 illegal immigrants in the Phoenix area this month, including raids on drop houses where smugglers keep many of those unlawfully entering the country from Mexico. Laughing

Arizona is a prime entry point into the U.S. from Mexico.

Good job, but I have to ask (ever the pessimist when it comes to "illegal catching")

IS THAT ALL THEY COULD FIND IN AZ????      :--)

If you have to hyphenate your race--you are NOT an American!! This from a French-German-English-Irish-AMERICAN! See how silly this can become?

I have decided that we need to start a general recall of all Senators (to start). They have ignored the wishes of their constitutants and failed to uphold their oath of office.

Not only have they failed to protect the border, they keep trying to pass amnesty against popularopinion.

They can't resolve the budget deficit and although the senate can hire any number of people to help them do nothing important. When the anthrax scare was happening, one Senator had 27 people in his office exposed.  assuming all 100 Senators employ 30 people at $30,000 per year (very conservative) that is 90 million per year. I understand the House has a fixed number of people that they can hire.

They have refused to outlaw pork. Special interest, unnecessary spending is running into billions and they won't fix the problem, but they want to cut education, police, and firemen. They will cut anything that hurts the public so we will accept tax hikes.

Congresspeople don't pay Social Security, they fave their own very good retirement, that we pay for.

SO IT IS MY CONTENTION THAT WE GET RID OF THE LOT, STARTING WITH THE SENATE. VOTE AGAINST THOSE COMING UP FOR RE-ELECTION AND RECALL THE OTHERS....

Proud Citizen,  We do not need to recall ALL of them.  Most but not all.  I don't know where you have been but if it weren't for senators like Jeff Sessions and David Vitter and a few others we would have had the McCain/Kennedy AMNESTY bill shoved down our throats.  So you are wrong about recalling all of them.  The people in the states with those such as Durbin, Kennedy, Reid, Feinstein and many others need to recall theirs but not all.  I just wish Jeff Sessions would've run for President.  He is a true statesman and not a politician.  Politicians are a dime a dozen and only care about what is going to benefit them.  Statesmen care about this country and its citizens.  Alas statesmen are few and far between.
