Madison Avenue at it's "best".  Catered to blacks and to whites and to "immigrants".  Lots of American flags.  Evoking the Declaration's "more perfect union" stuff.  Lot will eat it up and buy it.  I'm not, but many will.

Sorry, I just can't buy it. You can't spew hate and anger at country and people for 20 years and make any headway in unifying the people as he professes to want to do.

I've seen many black ministers and black people interviewed on tv say their churches /ministers preach the same message and they support it and they all support Wright.

As I listen to my minister or other churches that I visit, I do not hear the message of anger and hate that Wright expressed.  Obama said that is where blacks express these things--beauty shops and church--it seems more like keeping the pot boiling!!

Obama tried to make a case that thewhite middle class feesl the same because of immigrants etc taking our jobs--there is some anger towards others but it is mainly the government and I certainly don't hear any of us say GOD D... America.

As I said, I don't buy it!!!!

CNN just played a clip that jumped out at me---

Obama: "Did I ever hear him (Rev. Wright) make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church?  Yes."

Hmm, which ones and was he nodding in agreement as has been alleged?

No way is it even close to being good enough to explain where he stands on this issue! His attempt to justify, excuse and chalk it all up to not understanding the black experience in this country has failed miserably IMO.

No matter how much he says he repudiates or distances himself from the almighty Rev "Wrong's" views, he has not convinced me that he is willing and able to a president for all the people in one country.....bringing issues like the Ferarro comments and blaming corporations for society's ills et al into his speech, was again painting a broad picture of blame instead of addressing head on what he needed to address. He touts the feel good, do right in the two buzz words "change and hope" which in the end mean squat when it comes truthfully explaining your agenda and platform.

He is a mealy mouthed, wannabe, vague politician that is exploiting people psychologicaly in order to gain power. He is a loser, a liberal, blame everybody else, bleeding heart with no credibilty and absolutely no evidence of having any judgement whatsoever.

As in this case, you cannot sit in church for 20 years and not know exactly where your preacher stands on issues, especially in black churches where it is so vocal! Commission through ommission!

What ticked me off too is his use of the word "reverse discrimination," as if a certain segment of society owns the word discrimination- discrimination is discrimination...... the reverse of it makes it the opposite.

Him president? I pray not!

Obama's Speech-

My grade-  D minus

The speech started ok, about condemning his pastor about the blasphemous comments, then his speech quickly went downhill as Obama went into more of the Liberalism and Socialist ideals that he's been spewing. His speech was an overall bomb. I was of course willing to listen and at the same time I was immediately prepared to shoot down his speech which I of course I did.

He has made this election about race and I still don't get how he sat in that congregation for 20 years listening to that hate speech.  His supporters will buy it, though.

I am listening to Rush right now.  He is so right.  Sadly he is preaching to the Choir.  The ones who need to listen either don't, or are too ignorant to understand what is really going on.  I wish for one day only Dr. King would come back and see the mess we are in.  Where is the equality he spoke of?  Decent men like Bill Cosby are laughed at by their peers for speaking the truth, and hate mongers like Rev. Wright and Senator Obama are put on a pedestal.

Obama not only threw Ferraro under the bus, he slammed his own white grandma too.  He told how she made racial remarks now and then that made him cringe.  What a guy.

Obama, from the speech:

"Given my background, my politics, and my professed values and ideals, there will no doubt be those for whom my statements of condemnation are not enough.  Why associate myself with Reverend Wright in the first place, they may ask?  Why not join another church?  And I confess that if all that I knew of Reverend Wright were the snippets of those sermons that have run in an endless loop on the television and You Tube, or if Trinity United Church of Christ conformed to the caricatures being peddled by some commentators, there is no doubt that I would react in much the same way."

That's a strange thing to say since it is (or was?) on the church's website what the church and the Reverend in part, is about--radical black power--and he did not react for about 19 years in any kind of the same way.

Yeah, I heard that comment about his Grandma.  I suppose he'd have us believe he never in his life uttered the word "cracker" or "honkey", or "whitey", etc.  The holier than thou routine rarely works.

Well.....the words are certainly smooth and appear to sound honest, but I would say, "Beware!"

For most of us our church membership reflects our inner person (so to speak) - if we don't agree with what is being preached there, then we go elsewhere because our faith experience is the essence of who we are.

I wonder if he ever took his white grandma or his mother to that church with him and his wife and children?  I doubt it.  You have to wonder why, if he disagreed with Wright, he would want to raise his kids in such a hate-filled church.

I must agree that there is NO WAY anyone can attend a church for 20 years and not know EXACTLY what is coming from the pulpit!!!! Not to mention the get-to-gethers after church - a lot of conversation goes on there!!!!

If Obama so disagrees with this so called Pastor - why in the world would he continue to attend--------- unless he has NO PROBLEM with the verbage!!!

I believe this man has pulled the wool over many peoples eyes --- funny how GOD reveals things!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't subscribe to anything Baraq Obama says, anymore than I can believe anything Hilary Clinton says.  How have we allowed things to come to the state where John McCain is the better choice for President?
