Excellant article explaining the "ins and outs" of the arguments concerning the first appearance of the 2nd Amendment before the Supreme Court in a case that MAY completely alter the apparent interpretation of that Amendment. Good read for possible consequences of this pivotal ruling in U.S. history. Note what Presidential runners are saying about this.

I have to admit I have not been following this story very closely.  How did it come about in the first place?  And is DC trying to take away handguns/firearms from EVERYONE in the city?

I was (no longer) and IRA member. I stopped only because of financial reasons.(I retired.) I was a member for about 25 years. I never owned a gun. I just believed in the second amendment and wanted my fellow Americans who so chose, to own a gun. I was quite upset with the people who felt our society would be safer if they did not let people own guns. I never agreed with that. I felt the opposite. Also, having been of age to be aware of what was happening and tracking occurrences of WW2,  I saw the Nazis go into France and within days confiscate almost every darned gun in the country. So. you may see why I was a gun ownership advocate. I even wished, as a young boy, that the French had not had to register their weapons. (BTW--They did get weapons. Poeple will always get weapons. Who do you want to have these weapons--criminals?? or friends and neighbors?

I made one mistake, though, I stood with those who were opposed to automatic or semi-automatic gun ownership. I felt, "Why would one need an automatic for hunting, etc.?".

Well, I did not know then that one day there may be a reason for citizen soldiers (militia) to pick up arms again. It would be futile if those who would fight to defend us were restricted in their choice of weapons. I do not see them as being needed , so long as they are available. The government would think twice before trying to cram globalistic decisions down our throats if we are strongly opposed to them. Take them away and all other guns and it will no longer be the USA.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!!!!!!
