How are your dialing fingers? Have a "re-dial" button on your phone?
We want to try something new: Let's start calling and calling (and calling) to national talk show hosts (see dialing details below) who profess frustration with big government but can't seem to find the time to talk about the FairTax.
They are all for the power of the public to overturn flawed legislation but lose interest when it comes to the universally despised income tax system and our growing national movement (Boortz envy perhaps?).
Getting through is not easy.
The first challenge is the "busy" signal. One has to be prepared to re-dial a hundred times (or more) to get through.
Then, there's a screener who filters callers.
Screener: "Hi, what's your name and what do you want to talk about?"
Ken: "My name is Ken and I want to talk about lobbyists and Congress wrecking the economy"
Screener: "How so?"
Ken: "By selling off the income tax code a piece at a time..(or other reasons of your own)."
Screener: "OK, stand by..."
Now you get to wait on hold for 5 to 30 minutes.
When you do get on air I suggest the following points (you'll get time for one, maybe two):
I always like complimenting the host first--"You stand up for citizens. Thank you. Will you stand up now for citizen tax reform?"
1. FairTax is gathering petition signers at FairTax.org (Dare to be Fair). 2. The FairTax has more votes and supporters than any fundamental tax reform ever (see scorecard at FairTax.org). 3. The country suffers because lobbyists and Congress love playing with the tax code (see FairTax.org). 4. FairTax.org is a citizen movement with $22 million of research behind our proposal (go to FairTax.org) 5. The FairTax will save the economy and American jobs (and the Made in America label) at FairTax.org, of course. 6. We CAN change our government's policies-- by popular demand--but it takes faith in our system and a willingness to speak out.
If you are willing, let's all try first on Friday, March 14th on the following show: The Laura Ingraham Show
"Always articulate and entertaining, "The Laura Ingraham Show" launched into national syndication in 2001. Now on 340 radio stations, Laura takes listeners on a wild ride through the colliding worlds of politics, the news media, and Hollywood.
"Her legal, political, writing, and television background distinguishes Laura in the field of increasingly homogeneous radio syndication. Whether she's on the watch for evidence of media bias, political hypocrisy or Hollywood inanity, Laura infuses her program with a level of energy and commitment to conservative principles that grabs hold and won't let go."

Rayj First you're born, you pay taxes, you die. Then your next of kin has to pay more taxes on your funeral! How fair is that?

There is only one "fair" tax. Look it up in The Constitution and then tell me what it says. Then we can talk on the same educational level. And By the By, The Supreme Court backed up The Constitutional provision for income taxes in 1913 even AFTER and in light of the fictious supposed ratification of the 16th amendment. They said, in so many words, that The Sixteenth Amendment does nothing to change the taxation law of The Constitution for the average American citizen.
Now come back here and write after you know what THE CONSTITUTION says about taxation.
Then after you understand that I would like you to read the writings of Thomas Jefferson and both the Adams men, Samuel and John, regarding taxes and then tell me why they drafted The Constitution taxation clause way and they did. Then if you have a problem with The Constitution I would like to ask you if you believe in FREEDOM or even if you know what it means?
I would also like you to read history and tell me why prior to 1913, when there were no income taxes why this period was the most successful economic growth and individual wealth producing time in history and how, during that time of no taxes, America became a Super Power. Spin not accepted.
P.S. I was for the Fair Tax too, until I studied our Founding Documents and the writings of our Founding Fathers that supported the words, meaning, spirit and intent there of.
