Children studying Home schooling parents are reacting to a recent California appellate court decision outlawing the practice.

Kathleen, a home school mom from near Sacramento was caught completely off guard when she learned that a three-judge panel – considering a child welfare case --  had issued a blanket ruling declaring that California parents do not have a constitutional right to home school their children. (see related story)

"I'm just shocked that it can happen quickly -- that our fundamental right to educate our children can be taken away just with a snap of the fingers..." she exclaims. The home school mother hopes that legal groups like the Pacific Justice Institute, Alliance Defense Fund, Home School Legal Defense Association and others will be successful in having the ruling overturned.

"We will not give up home schooling our child," she states. "If it means moving from out of state, however we have to do that, we will do it because that is what we feel that God has called us to do." Kathleen says she and her husband have not had much chance to discuss the issue beyond that basic decision.

Even Kathleen's nine-year-old son understands what is happening to parental rights in his home state. "He said to me, 'This is like that bad man,' which he couldn't think of his name, 'in Germany. That's what it reminds me of,'" she continues. "And I was surprised at his perception, that he actually considered that a comparison.

Adolf Hitler outlawed home schooling in Germany in 1938. The practice is still illegal in re-unified Germany to this day.

Why is it that Americans currently don't put up a fight, rather than just roll over for the authorities.  The Mexicans carry their flags in our streets, liberal Universities outlaw freedom of expression on conservative matters, etc., etc.

There is NO place in the US Constitution that grants free public schooling to anyone, nor does it specify that the government should provide it.  Surely there are public interest law firms that would be glad to take up Kathleen's case.  That's what they exist for.  This is an unconstitutional infringement on our rights.

We don't need new "comprehensive" immigration laws. We need widespread, well funded enforcement of existing immigration law, i. e. IRCA 1986. http://www.oig.lsc.gov/legis/irca86.htm ANYTHING ELSE IS JUST A BIG CHARADE! Remember the Alamo AND Agents Compean, Ramos, Brugman, Sipe, Rhodes, Deputy Sheriff Hernandez, K-9 Officer Mohr & Noe Aleman. ***Redress it all by repealing the 17th Amendment to the U. S. Constitution: http://www.articlev.com/repeal_the_17...

Arnold has spoken out against the ruling.  It will probably be appealed or half of California will be moving out.

I listened to Gregg Harris' Home Schooling Seminar and his Storytelling Workshop over the weekend.

Nothing but the very best.

CA needs to listen.

The fanmily should contact ACLJ or Judicial Watch. They should get in comtact with Phyllis Schlafly. It looks like it will be a long hard battle. I am not throwing rocks here, I am as guilty as the enxt guy, but until we get off our hind ends and take to the streets in large numbers, peacefully, we will be ignored.

I pray every day--I talk to God. I seek answers. I really do not expect any because I believe God expects  us to get our own answers. I ask him what has happened to America's citizens. For example, what would cause the judges in CA to come to a decision that is a direct challenge to living as a citizen in America?? Home schooling is a parental decision.

It appears to me that people in our country illegally get more protection under the law (as interpreted by those in office now), than citizens.

The Congress recently voted, almost unaimously for a bill that would outlaw "violent radicaliazation". It seems to me that if we did take to the streets to protest the CA decision that some pol could detremine that violated the law.

What is happening????

I can prove you wrong a thousand times over. Your prayers are vital and expect God to give you the very clearest of answers.

He loves you more than you realize. He has a place waiting for you that if you could see it now you would want to exit this place in a big hurry. Don't though - you still got work to do here.

Thanks for the link.  That's a very good site and I signed their petition.  They also have links to other good sites with more information.

Here's what Gov. Arnold had to say:

"Every California child deserves a quality education and parents should have the right to decide what’s best for their children. Parents should not be penalized for acting in the best interests of their children’s education. This outrageous ruling must be overturned by the courts and if the courts don’t protect parents’ rights then, as elected officials, we will."

And, you can read what Chuck Norris thinks here: (You better listen to him.  I read the other day that he's the only WMD in Iraq.)

In this age, there can be no substitute for Christianity... That was the religion of the founders of the republic and they expected it to remain the religion of their descendants." Its been said that "the philosophy of the classroom in this generation will be the philosophy of life in the next generation." Our earliest founding fathers understood this. That's why, after building homes and churches, they established educational institutions like Harvard, Yale, Columbia, and Dartmouth. Today, most Christians have adopted the false premise that facts are neutral. They believe it doesn't matter who teaches math, science, and history, because facts are facts. The humanists took advantage of this type of thinking by gradually shaping and controlling education in terms of materialist assumptions.

Whoever Controls the Schools Rules the World shows how education can be used as a vehicle for social change from Karl Marx and Adolf Hitler to secular humanism and radical Islam. Our worldview oponents understand that education is where the war of ideas is fought. If Christians are serious about securing the future for our children, they must understand the nature of the war we are fighting.

There are about 160,000 kids that are home schooled in California. California schools are already overcrowded. What are they going to do with 160,000 extra students?

Have the families move to Ohio. We need all the HS'ers we can get. They make the best college students.
