Would you believe it if we told you that the U.S. House of Representatives voted to raise the price you pay for gasoline at the pump and -- at the same time -- give a huge tax break to that America-hating dictator Hugo Chavez?
Well, that is exactly what our so-called elected leaders-- led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her liberal colleagues in the House -- just did.
In common parlance, we call that a "twofer" and as unbelievable as it may sound, Pelosi and company have yet again proved that they have never met a socialist tyrannical despot thatthey did not like!
Here's what happened.
Last week, the House passed H.R. 5351, a bill that will jack up the prices that you and I pay at the pump for gasoline through the imposition of an $18 billion dollar tax increase!
Then they turned around andEXEMPTED HUGO CHAVEZ'S STATE-RUN OIL COMPANY, CITGO, FROM THE TAX!
Investor's Business Daily put it this way in an editorial on Friday titled, "Tax Cut for Hugo:"
"It goes to show that Congress is more willing to empower dictators than to get serious about America's energy supply."
You remember Hugo Chavez. He's the mouth-foaming dictator of Venezuela who came to New York City not too long ago and called the President of the United States "El Diablo" (Translation: "The Devil").
Here's exactly what he said when speaking at the United Nations:
"And the devil came here yesterday. Yesterday the devil came here. Right here. [performs the sign of the cross] And it smells of sulfur still today."
"Yesterday, ladies and gentlemen, from this rostrum, the President of the United States, the gentleman to whom I refer as the devil, came here, talking as if he owned the world. Truly. As the owner of the world.
"I think we could call a psychiatrist to analyze yesterday's statement made by the President of the United States. As the spokesman of imperialism, he came to share his nostrums, to try to preserve the current pattern of domination, exploitation and pillage of the peoples of the world ." [Emphasis Mine]
And Pelosi and company have basically bestowed favor upon this anti-American dictator and they're bestowing this favor on the backs of American businesses and average American taxpayers like you and me.
We must act quickly... and act together... to stop this ridiculous legislation before Pelosi's liberal colleagues try to sneak it through the Senate.

Tell them in no uncertain terms that the American people do NOT want tax breaks to go into the greasy pockets of that tyrannical America-hating despot Hugo Chavez. Time is of the essence because Pelosi's liberal allies and fellow travelersin the Senate may try to fast-track this bill to avoid a filibuster.
This sounds like BS to me. My understanding was Congress was looking at repealing the 18 billion dollar tax credit for oil companies. I looked up the above bill mentioned and got this or other versions of it:
The above link does not work. Sorry. Go to thomas.loc.gov which is a search engine within the Library of Congress, and put in HR 5351. It says nothing about a tax break to Chavez nor about other items mentioned by speakengl. Did you post the wrong HR #?
If Hugo Chavez is such a threat to the United States, why are we allowing Venezuela to operate Citco in the U.S. Not to mention everything in our stores made in Communist China. We have sanctions on Cuba, is Cuba more communist than communist China. Sounds like a globalist game to me.
The facts are: if a country has bought into globalism they don't care what political persuasion they are. Chavez kicked out the IMF and the International Bankers is the real problem.
This is absurd! More debt for American citizens! More support for those countries that seek our demise!
The upcoming stimulus package - I felt instead of this package, a decrease in federal, state and local taxes on gasoline would be of more benefit as we would not have to borrow money from China to provide for this package. The decrease in the gas taxes would, in effect, be its own stimulus without our having to borrow and pay interest to provide for it.
But I realize this will never be as every time the price of oil or gas goes up, the government gets their share through their percentage of the price we pay. Gasoline prices are like their own little ATM. And of course, their concern for the American citizens' welfare knows no bounds!
Bush recently asked US, the average citizens, to conserve gas while representatives and candidates go jetting around America and the world incessantly. "Fact-finding missions" to the middle East by congressmen that have no business there with side-trips to vacation stops wherever they choose after their cursory visits to "view the situation firsthand" - paid for on our dime. We can only imagine how much jet fuel was used for the constant flying from state to state by the "candidates and their entourages", the news media, etc. for purposes of an outdated election/primary system - and they are not done yet! This system should be done away with and all primaries held on the same day nationwide so one state does not influence another. Centralized TV debates with ALL candidates involved DISCUSSING THE ISSUES could be held. Personal appearances serve no purpose as there is little contact with the average citizen with a legitimate concern or question.
We American citizens have no way we can cut back on gasoline as we have no other method of transportation other than our cars which we use to get to work so we can afford more gas and for shopping for food - especially in more rural areas. I cannot afford to fly and soon I will not be able to afford to drive.
Its time for us to curtail their gas usage, their limos and air travel. Its time for the "royal court" to tighten their belts, too. Extra travel should be paid for from their own pockets - which we and the lobbyists amply fill.
I don't know if the above mentioned article is true or not, but you make a good point Mz. The royal court needs to tighten their belt. The candidates should start first. Instead of spending millions from their "supporters", which means that the likes of us again have no say in the process, they should keep it to discussions on issues at a central meeting point, instead of extravagantly traveling from State to State, leaving the few good candidates we had in the dust. I this day and age they can do this via satelite, can't they, so they don't have to travel out of their State even.
That would save gas, and the millions saved could be funneled into something else, like gas tax credit.
