More Border Fence Lies
The Peter Morrison Report
At some point, this report will be devoted to news that will bring
a smile to your face. Anger and incredulity at the events of the
day will be a thing of the past.
That is why in the face of deceit, broken promises and government
lies, we can't back down now, for the inheritance handed down by
our forefathers rests upon our shoulders. We must press forward and
engage the liars and deceivers, and when the time comes vote them
out of office
The hard working patriots of Texas and of the other states that
comprise the United States of America must continue, especially
when confronted with the news of the latest government (Bush
Administration) betrayal.
The Washington Post reports:  "The Bush administration has scaled
back plans to quickly build a "virtual fence" along the U.S.-Mexico
border, delaying completion of the first phase of the project by at
least three years and shifting away from a network of tower-mounted
sensors and surveillance gear, federal officials said yesterday."
The first phase of this virtual fence won't be deployed now until
nearly 2012, instead of the planned installation by the end of this
year. At roughly 100 miles - extending from Tuscon to El Paso - the
virtual border would have complemented a physical fence that
included "370 miles of pedestrian fencing and 300 miles of vehicle
barriers to be completed by the end of this year."
This physical barrier is also likely to be delayed, primarily
because its total cost cannot be determined.
Pat Buchanan summed up the frustration you're undoubtedly feeling
right now:
"Thus, building the first 100 miles of "virtual fence" will take
Bush longer than it took FDR to win World War II. The admission of
failure comes two years after Bush announced plans for "the most
technologically advanced border enforcement initiative in American
history," and, "In short, these characters cannot build a virtual
fence and won't complete a physical fence. If the nation is fed up
with Republicans, who can blame them?"
The poet Robert Frost once wrote that, "Good fences make good
neighbors." Right now, our border is violated at a rate that can't
be accurately gauged. Estimates range from 2,000 - 5,000 people
illegally crossing the US - Mexican border per day, an annual rate
of 730,000 - 1.8 million.
And yet, our government continues to come up with excuses as to why
they can't stop illegal immigration.
In 2003, the following exchange took place in a press conference
with President Bush:
Question:  "If there are foreign terrorists involved [in Iraqi
bombings], why aren't Syria and Iran being held accountable?"
President Bush:  "Yes, well, we're working closely with those
countries to let them know that we expect them to enforce borders,
prevent people from coming across borders if, in fact, we catch
them doing that."
To follow up on that exchange, in 2003 Bush proposed a budget that
included, according to Forbes Magazine, "The Iraq reconstruction
budget consists of $5 billion for security, including border
guards, customs and training a new army."
That budget was accepted by Congress.
Not only that, but Allan Wall reported in 2005 that, "Over the last
three months, Marines under the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit have
built-or rebuilt-more than two dozen border forts and recruited
more than 1,000 specially trained Iraqi border security forces."
What is the moral to this sordid story? If we can build more than
two dozen border forts in Iraq in less than three months time -
rebuild and build - then why does it take three years to build a
virtual wall on our own border?
Not much else need be said regarding the gross injustice that is
transpiring on our border and the incredible rapidity that forts
were built in Iraq to secure their border.
It's obvious - I hope by now - that you understand our government
isn't serious about defending this country's border with Mexico.
The time for electing Republicans who would rather build fences in
Mesopotamia than stop the invasion of our own country is over. The
time for action and holding your elected officials accountable for
the continued sellout of the United States is upon us.
Imagine for a brief second: a president is elected who understands
that the border must be secured. If it took three months for our
troops to build those forts in Iraq, imagine what they could do on
our border.
Perhaps a future president could have the border secured in a month
at that rate.
Imagination is folly without concrete, political action and
grassroots reaction by people like you reading this report.
Bombard the White House phone line with call after call, letting
them know what you think of the three-year hiatus on a border fence.
If it could be done in Iraq, why can't it be done here? Bush, Gov.
Perry, and the rest of the open-border elites, are probably
laughing at those who believed their election year promises of
securing the border.
May he who laughs last, laugh best, the saying goes. Work to
support candidates that will actually defend our nation's borders
and vote out the traitors who won't.
