TEXAS Primary Thread - 3/4/08

OK guys -- here's a new thread for comments, updates, frustration, et al as today progresses.

Quick note:  When I went to vote at my normal polling place, there was a professionally made sign about where the Democratic Primary was being held.  Across the top, in big blue letters:  DEMOCRATES!

I am truly amazed at the two-faced people that are running "responsable" departments in this administration, that includes our president. The mantra and claims is that we are harrased at airports, can be listened to on our phone conversations, are tracked what we say where we say it and to whom, all in the name of our security, but..........when we ask them to do what we demanded of them by erecting a fence, and deport those that are here illegal they flatly refuse to do either, now will it be nessecary to relive the Alamo in real time or do we have to get honest with ourselves and say    THIS is enough, and now we trhow the bums out  and  re-institute the constitution of this nation and start living it. If we are not willing to do this than the destruction of our country is real and imminent, and you wont have to worry about it you wont live that long, and you are after all a pacifist liberal, but your kids and grandkids will have to learn spanish..... you get what YOU allow them to do to you!!!!

Obama, Clinton, are DEMS, and I dont expect any less from them, but we knew about McCain and we voted for that Democrat liberal and in favor ot Duncan Hunter, mitt Romney, and Tancredo, Boy, we real are the winners

It is an unbelievable situtation -- FS was ablaze against the Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill, and based on our success, vowed to not vote fortthe lesser of two evils again.  All the candidates we picked fell one-by-one in a very short time to the man we would NEVER PICK!  Guess what?

The only campaign signs I saw today were for Peden against Ron Paul, several sheriff candidates, and that was it!  No McCain OR Cornyn!  It is truly another in a continuing series of sad days in America!

When I voted an hour or so ago, there was no line for Republicans but a small one for Dems.  It could just be our neighborhood, though.

When my husband went, there was a Mexican there voting who was wearing a Che Guevara shirt.  Unreal.

My husband thinks Obama is the antichrist.  I wonder if Hillary will win.

Just returned from our polling center - I had to give more people directions to the Democrat polling center than people that actually came into our polling place.  This is a highly republican area --- or used to be.  The ones I talked to are so mad at Bush and Rick Perry - they will vote for a democrat...ANY democrat.

Che Guevara shirt, eh?  Probably a member of the Obama team.  He had flags with Che's picture on them hung in his campaign offices.

Thank you speak.  So was I reading correctly, that only about 39 delegates were divvied up based on the primary, and that most delegates (over 200) will be awarded based on the caucus?

Does anyone else think that the caucus rules are bad?  The number of delegates awarded to each area is based on how many people voted in that area in the last election.  That doesn't make much sense to me.  Why penalize an area just because a lot of people didn't show up last time to vote?  I know it's supposed to be an incentive to get people to vote more, but most people aren't even aware of the rule.  I also just think the delegates should be based on the population of the area, not on how many voted last time.

The entire election process in Texas needs to be revised. It was all put in place back during the days of really crooked Democrat politics in Texas, damn that is today.

Hey Blaze, don't you miss Senator Phil Graham? I wish he would have had the backing of we the people just one more time, but it's too late I feel. Phil Graham was a damn good Senator. I'm not really up on Texas too much but whatever happened to him? Wasn't he the Governor before Bush? Time has it's way of erasing itself and look what we have now. What say you Jim?

The supposed big wins by Hillary last night that she secured drew me one word-

ZEEEEERRRO! Hillary won the states alright that she needed. But, Obama came out the actual winner unfortunately because his delegate lead DID NOT shrink last night. Hillary's big night was really Obama's BIG NIGHT!! Sad isn't it? Yes it is.

Ann Richards was Governor of Texas before GWB.  Phil Gramm is advising McCain on economic issues now.

Ok, I knew Ann Richards was there now that you mention it txguy1. Maybe he was a Senator. Correct me if I am wrong as I am not from Texas, but was he the Governor at one time possibly before Ann Richards was?

I can remember how good a speaker he was and also how he could hold down the Dems.

Has this much time passed? Man!!!! Am I getting old? Oh well. So, Phil Gramm will be McCains economic administrator is safe for saying in the future? I can't believe he would do this as strong of a True Republican he once was, or may even still be. He was good is all I know. He spoke truths.

Your right ...even though Texas did something right in a somewhat favorable move in the 'patriotic 'direction, something needs to be done about the total election process. But, this has been going on for so long and is so out of control...How do you stop it? Crooked Democrat politics in my state(TX) has been a way of life (best example :Crook-LBJ) and has continued to this very day. And it will really get totally out of control as these future Democrats continue to cross the border and Obama puts them into the Democrat (state control) voting scheme of things...Adios--Texas

 On the brighter side ...This is what made my day.....The bad day for Miss Big "O"pha  has arrived... And behind the scene's this big 'weasel ' doesn't like to lose and her true self will began to show.

She'll be headed for Texas and  Ohio with 'gifts'...... and other bribes.

Her 'sleazy' maneuvers are business expenses and tax deductible.The only way we will be able to stop her is to turn her 'OFF'.And because of her control over the masses , the government wouldn't touch her with a 'ten foot pole.' 

It up to us...because loves control and she's way too powerful---- in the wrong direction (you know what I mean)!

Phil Gramm was first elected to Congress as a Democrat while Fort Worthless Jim Wright was Speaker of the House.  Congressman Phil Gramm advised President Reagan on the budget.  That made hothead Jim Wright mad.  Jim Wright kicked Congressman Gramm off the committees he was on.  Phil Gramm resigned from Congress, came home and ran in a special election as a Republican.  He got elected as a Republican.  Then when Senator John Tower (first Republican Senator from Texas since Reconstruction) retired in 1985, Phil Gramm ran for his Senate seat, and was elected.
