I have a question about the Minutemen and I'm sure there are plenty of people here who are able to answer.  I have come to the point where it is becoming increasingly clear that I must do something other than sit at my computer and read articles or FS posts.  I must do something to defend my country and keep my family safe.  I don't care what color somebody is, but I do care that many of the illegals coming over have no desire to assimilate, which could turn us into a third world country or even foment civil strife within my lifetime.  But that's a topic for another thread.  The point is I would like to find out more about getting involved with the Minutement.  The question I have is, what does everyone know about the Minutemen?  I understand that there are two primary Minutemen groups, Jim Gilchrist's Minutemen Project and the Minutemen Civil Defence Corp headed by Chris Simcox. They apparently were the same group originally and split because of a disagreement.  I read previously on Wikipedia that both Gilchrist and Simcox have been accused of unsavory things (fraud and child molestation, respectively).  I don't know if those accusations are true, but it is unsettling that they split because they could not solve their disagreements.  It is also unsettling that some of Gilchrist's people tried to take over his group.  I sortof wonder if there are other unsavory characters in the group.  I want to get involved, and I have little doubt that the people on the border with binoculars are not "unsavory", but I was hoping not to be involved in a group with poor leadership or people of bad character or wrong motives like racism.

So the questions I have are 1) Are allegations of fraud, child molestation, or whatever true?  Both groups vehemently shun racists, right?  and 2) Which group is better?  Does only the MMCDC do border watch or does Gilchrist's group do border watch also?  If anybody is currently volunteering with either group, please offer your two cents.

I could only tell you this ,when I listened to simcox speak at the young republicans organization at boise state university here in Idaho,he seem to have sympathy and wanted to give special treatment to the kids of illegals which I totally disagree. What else I got out of simcox is that they don't do much actual border duty anymore but do more of the lobbying in washington.Being at that event was an experience in it'self for the 95% in attendance were pro-illegal allien activist and even Aztlan idiots. What else is new ,I have always been out numberd at rallies and events. As you can see I am a doer and totaly understand you.If I lived near or was retired  I would be on that border with you.your fellow patriot.

Both groups have had their problems internally.  Both are doing border watch work and reporting to the Border Patrol, as are Border Watch and the American Border Patrol.  With the Minutemen, either group, you have to be qualified for concealed carry in your state, or at least pay for a background check.  Only hand guns are allowed for self protection, while the enemy invaders have M-16s and even grenade launchers.  Their main duty is to report to the Border patrol which rarely does anything, because they are" too busy" already.  All of them are politically castrated and ineffective in stopping the 3 million coming in per year.  Political whores want their votes and their business, their low wages, and seem to think the USA is an endless breadbasket of resources and riches.  The same whores that allow moslem loudspeakers to broadcast calls to prayers to allah five times a day, and welcome all the profitable cheap communist goods.

Thanks for the info, mgpilot.  Are you active in any groups?  Any opinion on which is more effective?  Or are the all too "castrated" to  be worth my time?

Is anybody else out there active in any groups?  We complain a lot on this forum and I am trying to get ideas of concrete things that I/we can do.

I hate the politics that are involved with upper levels of the minuteman groups. But I will say this, of the upper management in both organizations, there are a lot of fine upstanding patriotic citizens. Raymond Herrera, Robin Rhvidston, Carmen Mercer and Al Garza exemplify the meaning of the original Minutemen. As my case went through the court system they were there every time that I needed them. Their support was unbelievable. They instituted nation wide call in alerts for my benefit four different times.

The individual groups in each state more or less go their own way in how they do things. I got  a lot of assistance from groups in SC, NC, and Ga. There were minutemen sitting down with me in court every time. You didn't say which state you are in, but click on the national minutemen sites and go to your state from there. You can get more information like that.

I am attending a meeting of the groups in SC tomorrow and we are having a press conference on Mar 10th dealing with the laws our state politicians are discussing on  the SC statehouse steps. What I am trying to say is that there are a lot of outstanding groups and people in every state. Find out where yours are located and attend a couple of meetings. Make your own decision about joining.  There are also a lot of minutemen groups that are not allied with the national groups. They are just small invidual groups and they are in every state also.
