The niece of Martin Luther King, Jr., has used an appearance at a Black History Month event in Washington, DC, to reject the claim that her famous uncle supported abortion rights for women.
Dr. Alveda King says although her uncle -- the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. -- accepted an award from Planned Parenthood in 1966, the abortion group had a "hidden agenda" at the time. "I don't want anybody to be confused by thinking that Dr. King could condone the violent death of the little babies, and the violent consequences that women suffer," King clarifies. "I'm post-abortive myself. I've suffered ... and it was a secret in my family for too long. And so now we’re here today to speak out on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves. Abortion is a racist, genocidal act."
King was one of several black pro-life leaders who met in Washington yesterday to celebrate their ethnicity and decry abortion and its disproportionate effect on blacks. And during a news conference at the Family Research Council, Dr. Johnny Hunter, president of the Life Education and Resource Network, predicted that at some point in America abortion would be abolished, just like slavery and Jim Crow laws.
"The way of the wicked does not last forever, and that's why we get to celebrate Black History Month," says Hunter. "Because all throughout black history [there have] been blacks who have taken a stand no matter where the people were when they got here. By the time they left this earth, we were a little bit better off."
Hunter declared that in merely three days time in America, the abortion industry "kills more blacks than the KKK ever lynched."
Abortion is not racist... it is an act discretly carried out. Its moral significance is self apparent. To attempt to amplify the killing of unborn babies unnecessarily needlessly trivializes the fact that the act is simple... an abortion kills a baby. No more no less. The net effect on the African-American community is disparitly harsh and that is a great tragedy but to call it genocide is an abuse of the term.
No, abortion is not racist. I agree with you Xian. I do believe that planned parenthood is purposefully targeting the low income areas and teenagers, though. They have an agenda & will do all they can to carry it out. I've seen signs up around where I live stating how many people have been killed overseas...maybe we should put up a sign stating how many babies have been killed this year alone...

Sanger's (mother of planned parenthood) eugencist and racist intent was not a matter she hid.
Current policy of PP does seem to target low income mothers. I frequently hear the argument that they are saving the child from a life in poverty. Apparently this is done by killing it. Seems a reasonable if not immoral solution to the problem of poverty huh? Just kill them?
Interestingly, MLK's neice calls abortion "racist" - and I kind of understand her perception since - IF - the majority of abortions are performed on black women/girls and it was/is by design from the Planned Parenthood organization, which was founded by whom and supported by whom?
Certainly not conservative, Christian/faith-based organizations, but the liberals amongst us and the 60's women's lib radicals who weren't about to be told by any (MAN) what they had to do with their own bodies!
No, there wasn't a baby worthy enough to sacrifice one's body, career, or health for - usually a perceived "mental" well-being due to inconvenience to the pregnant "not-gonna-be-a-mother" woman.
Shame of an unwedded mother attributed to the death of babies too, but isn't that less than what many have lived with after killing their baby? And the utter devastation so many experienced as well? I can't imagine the sorrow of those who wish they'd never aborted.
Sure hope this catches on with the majority of Americans (men as well as women) to stop the murder of innocent babies. Whether poor, uneducated, or "not ready to start a family", no baby should have to pay the price of death. There is ALWAYS an alternative - ADOPTION if one can't or won't take on the responsibility of becoming pregnant and joy of a child.
Even children born of a rape have value ... it wasn't the baby who committed the crime, and if the "mother' cannot see herself raising the child, there are so many others who would love to have that child as their own. THEN, of course, the rapist should be shot in the head - DEAD! Can't commit a crime if dead, right? Rhonda
HMMMMMM......I guess blacks are drug into Planned Parenthood with a rope and forced to abort? I contend that more blacks are lost due to no parenting, which leads to gang violence, prison and death, than anything Planned Parenthood could ever do. In my youth, they provided my girlfriend and I with birth control pills. It spared she and I an unwanted child. We were an ill prepared couple to young an inmature for producing a child neither of us were old enough to handle. Asking young adults not to mate is like asking the pope to convert to a Muslim. That just the way it is. That is wheir hard conservatives and I disagree. Many blacks keep finding excuses for their lack of parenting and the absence of role models. 6 out of 10 black children live in a home absent a father and every stat in the book shows huge increases in drop out rates and convict status for those meeting that descripition. So quit the blame game and take responsibility for yourselves I say.
There have always been unwanted pregnancies since man and women first had the urge. Whether it was hidden or not, there were fewer abortions and fewer pregnancies before abortion was legalized because women knew to keep their knees together until they had a husband or a support system to provide for a baby. Back then, abortion was more dangerous, childbearing was more dangerous and unwed mothers were embarrassed if not shunned. Perhaps those of us who have lost children due to natural causes or who are unable to have children appreciate more the miracle of birth. While things worked out for you, I would suggest that proper chaperoning of you and your girlfriend prior to marriage and higher expectations than that you think with the head behind your zipper could have worked, if not for you, then for most immature kids. It worked for me, and I had as many raging hormones as any other young American male.
But otherwise, I do agree with your post. It is all about taking personal responsibility for ones actions. That is what separates children from adults, no matter how old somebody is. Children don't, adults do! And parents are adults who take responsibility for both themselves and their children while striving to develop their children into self-reliant adults.

Nothing personalFeedFwdtwo mules and a freight train would not have kept me from it. My home was a good one. My mother was a stay at home mom. My father was as strict as they make them. However, I was taught to take precautions at many levels. Safety equipment. Firearms. Cause and effect relationships were clear. Planned Parenhood was a logical choice vs a baby nobody wanted. Look at black neighborhoods in America today. They are riddled with violence in most cases. Wherever Mlk Blvd is bullets fly and property values plummet. 40 years of goodies & all the programs they can muster. Very little progress after billions blown. Ron White wasnt wrong when he said "you cant fix stupid". Why is it that Asians can come here and speak no English and end up millionaires inside of 10 years? Europeans same thing. Lets be honest about this entire subject instead of polically correct. We have slowed down an entire country to compensate for those who can not keep up. We have lowered the bar to give many jobs they flat do not deserve and reverse discriminated against white males to do so. Our country has went down the tubes right in line with these give me programs. Black males kill each other at 6 times the rate of white males. Why is it I pay the same insurance rates they do? Anybody ever give you 5 points on a test just for putting your name on it? Just plain wrong! Yet many government agencies do. Lets quit lying about their inability to compete on a level playing fields. Black Entertainment Television? How about Whitee TV? Racist isnt it. Look at Obama Vs Hillary- She wins the votes the most states and he still wins! She is disallowed Florida and MI. This is the party that fights for all votes to be counted..... Just look at his church and all of his whitee hating buddies plus terrorist buddies. I swear the time of idiots is upon us! Frankly I dont care for Hillary at all. She had a stacked deck before she started. Their party is a fraud for not allowing the peoples will to be heard.
The problem in low income neighborhoods is the break down of the family. When there's no father figure in the home, boys don't learn how to be a man. They look for a "father" in older boys who don't know how to be men either...that's how gangs start. God even addressed the problem: "Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance." Titus 2:2 "Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness, and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may not be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us." Titus 2:6-8 Even if you don't believe in God, those are good rules to follow. Can you imagine what our society would be like if everyone followed God's commands? We wouldn't be having this debate!
One simple fact Miss (?) Hunter fails to realize is, in order to get an abortion, a pregnant woman (regardless of race) must enter an abortion clinic and request an abortion.
Any disproportionate amount of women of races other than white merely means more women--and perhaps girls?--of that particular race are getting pregnant without being "ready" to have children.
While there may be several reasons why this is happening, it has nothing to do with "white supremacy," or racism of any sort.
It's probably a combination of reasons why this is happening:
1) There are not equal amounts of persons of any particular race;
2) The concept of proper parenting has broken down in our society--over all races--and parents are not teaching their children the value of life;
3) Our soceity, as a whole, has become less interested in decent behavior, culminating in all sorts of perversions (from "alternative lifestyles" to incest and beastiality, etc.) becoming more "normalized;"
4) Public schools are not teaching our children abstinance, but rather they are handing out condoms and birth-control pills to kids who do not know how to use them properly--and who are too immature to be participating in adult behavior.
5) Perhaps there are more abortion clinics built close to urban areas, where most young folks live;
6) Worse, Planned Parenthood does not include adoption as an option in their counselling sessions to young women prior to performing abortions. Regardless of the laws demanding Planned Parenthood cover all options in their counselling sessions, Planned Parenthood does not make money on the adoption option, so they never use it.
I'm sure there are many more reasons, but I can't think of any more at the moment. Anyway, any rational adult should know that any discrepancies in abortion numbers between races has nothing to do with racism.
I wish there were a pill irrational folks could take that would make their brains more rational and logical.
