ColsonA leading evangelical Christian says the church in America is being seduced by the comforts of modern culture. And life should be a pursuit of holiness and not happiness, says Chuck Colson.

In his newest book The Faith, Colson says many Christians in America do not have a proper view of sin, redemption, mercy, and grace. He believes many Christians cannot defend their faith because they do not know what they believe -- nor do they have a right view of the role of the church.

"We think the church kind of helps us get through life. We don't look at it as God's own structure for doing his work on earth that he entrusts us with," describes Colson. "We don't have a high, holy view of the church and of exactly what happened at the cross, which is an exchange of identities. It's not I who live, but Christ who lives in me, for I've been crucified with Christ." (Galatians 2:20)

Colson also says it is unfortunate that people do not have a firm grasp on the true meaning of salvation either. He says he questions some people's claims of salvation because he sees no spiritual fruit in their lives, and he encourages them to get back on track with living like Christ.

In his book, Colson says true Christians -- instead of focusing on happiness -- will strive to live lives of holiness.

unfortunately, materialism, comfort and enjoyment is very hard to give up once you got it (human nature).

God will have to loud to our ears, like a disaster, or even US get attacked again on mainland for us to wake up.

Many Christians get caught up in liturgy and the traditions of their denomination.  God speaking through Solomon said, 'All is vanity, all is vanity.'  Nothing matters but our coming to know Jesus by way of the experience of faith and trust in Him [John 3:16].   The we have a life time of studying the Bible to fully understand the Godhead and His plan for humankind who He created to worship Him.  If you only worship Him on Sunday for one hour, you have missed the whole purpose of our relationship to and with Him.  Everyday our worship must be centered on Him, when we have off time from work.  Family is vital too and it is no uncommon for Christians to pray various times through the day.  All of our materialistic things will turn back to dust as will we.  Looking foward look to Him as your only Source of a never ending life with Him [I Timothy 2:5-6].  When you stand before the Lord you will have no minister or priest to defend you life style and 'works' accomplished or neglected in this life time.

Obama says that America is looking for change.

Americans are in need of a change of heart/life through the reception of the Son of God, our Savior.  He is the Author of an internal change that you will never forget!

The problem with our country is that we are looking for change through the human race (presidents, governors, mayors,etc.). We, the human race have done things our way and it has gotten us to the point of realizing that there needs to be a change.

Only God can bring the cahnge needed in this country, however, we're not willing to do what it takes: "...and My people who are called by My name humble thyemselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2Chronicles 7:14 (NASB) bold added

Love in Christ,

Phil C.
