American culture is starting to resemble a teen-ager obsessed with bathroom jokes. Only America's focus is riveted on sex. All sex, all the time. From Britney's panties, to Anna Nicole's lovers, to transgender rights to forced acceptance of homosexuality. If a story deals with sex, it sells.
The focus on sex, while prurient and titillating, has wider implications that have been overlooked. They involve redefining the family and undermining marriage by de-mystifying sex, (under the guise of 'empowerment.') From advocating special rights for transgendered under the banner of 'inclusiveness,' to same-sex ..
Nancy, My wife and I get lots of this subject junk email. She often turns off the radio when commercials come on. Practically every Seinfeld program shows people in a bedroom that have no business there. Evening gaming shows feature about 40 scantily clad women with big smiles.
Bachelor programs and reality programs show people trying to find a mate by jumping in a swimming pool together. There is not any attempt to learn how each other really thinks. Substance is redefined by how each other "feels."
The battle of good versus evil is getting red hot. We've chosen our side except this is not enough. It's time to win back as many as possible.
I love to start out with the point that we do not have to try and get as much pleasure as we can now before we die. Now before you think of the muslim virgins story consider this. Real love is what we seek. However, real love requires the ability to think and make rational choices.
Do we want to live forever in a world with people who refuse to choose to love?
Do you think Jesus Christ wants those kind of people in his kingdom?
He has a better winning plan. And his kingdom is a real place that we could travel to and live in right now. It is more fun to be there than anything we can imagine. And he reserves it for those who choose to love now.
Gold is a fascinating metal for physicists to study using high speed particle accelerators. It turns out that light does not reflect off the surface of the metal quite the same way as other materials. Light will penetrate about an inch into a block of gold before it reflects back out. This is discovered to be due to the fact that gold is mostly transparent. It is the impurities that give it its color.
Now think about Revelation and the main street of the kingdom being made of pure gold "transparent as glass." Many people used this to criticize the accuracy of the Bible saying gold has color. The thing is pure gold without the impurities can be produced right now in laboratory.
So, the world that Jesus Christ has in store for those who love him is identical to this world with all the impurities removed. He said this world is a dim reflection of his kingdom.
Greg, what you say is so true. It seems that every other ad and show on tv has something to say about sex, immoral behavior, or features people clad so scantily, one wonders what kind of business they are in. We are being bombarded by messages that immoral behavior is normal, must be tolerated.
I remember when Ellen Degeres(or so) admitted to be homosexual, and everyone was in uproar. Now most of the shows feature at least one openly gay person, or the whole show is all about it.
You see, slowly but surely we were fed into it little by little we tolerated more and more, and now its almost too late to turn back.
As long as we are more obsessed with Viagra than we are with pleasing the Lord, I don't see a rosy future.
Of course I agree. My worry is how to stem the tide. The left has redefined 'love'. Or to be more exact, they have ignored it altogether in favor of 'empowerment' and hooking up.
They have enshrined the concept of all rights and no responsibilities. What I'd like to find is a way to change this. Any suggestions?
PS. I'm a Christian but I don't think preaching gospel to them will be effective, it will only harden their peer driven image of a right wing zealot.
No matter how thin the pancake, there are always two sides.
I think it is a shame people are so obsessed with what goes on in their bedrooms or everyone else's bedrooms that they cannot take the time to see the beauty in a flower, a sunrise or sunset, a child's delight as they discover something new.
Remember the first time as a child you discovered a new joy in life? Eventually those feelings are few and far between as we learn more of the world, but the memory is still there.
It seems every movie or TV show will end up in the "gutter, bedroom, alley, hospital linen closet" somewhere. They, the creators, equate this with love - not lust - and mistakenly believe this physicality cannot be lived without. True love does not need to be corroborated by jumping from one bed to another to find out who is better. Love is not based entirely on physical sensations. Love requires trust, understanding and responsibility for guarding the feelings of your mate. It is not a contest to see how many partners a person can have. Women's Lib's message has been distorted from being equal on the job to another type of marketplace. Many women think it is "cool" to seduce as many men as they can as men try to seduce as many women as they can - and let's face it - the men are very happy about it. They don't even have to buy dinner anymore - its all free - its all good.
It's time to bring back more adventure stories, patriotic stories, biographies, musicals - sans sexual innuendos and escapades.
Its time to forget the so-called "reality" shows that feature nothing but negative character traits and provide our families with stories that are more true to life. Its time to stop giving unconditional adulation to those actors/actresses who present this image to the world and then complain when they have "no privacy".
From what I gather this crap on tv and radio are all alien influences by third world cultures, and explotation of the first & 14th ammendments.Or maybe not so much as an influence , but the fuel that feeds the fire.Hitler would never approve , and Hilary wants to coddle.
Find the Lost Sheep. I know where your coming from, the lost sheep are us and the Sheppard is Jesus. Well put. This problem is definetly growing by leaps and bounds and we need to do something.
Sean Hannity, the man who understands what America should stand for.

I think about all you can do is lead by example.
"There is only one difference between a bad economist and a good one: The bad economist confines himself to the visible effect; the good economist takes into account both the effect that can be seen and those effects that must be foreseen." -- Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850) "In general, Democrats are the only real reason to vote for Republicans." -- Thomas Sowell FeedFwd: a born again coonass trapped in Austin, TX, USA
I share your concerns. The only thing I know "to do" is check out American Family Association. http://www.afa.net/ It seems that matters keep getting worse, so it doesn't seem to me that they are very effective. However they do attempt to put some brakes on the worst TV programs, commercials, etc. Toward that effort they furnish emails, which we can edit and forward to appropriate sponsors, network officials, directors, etc. And of course, the more participants they have, the more effective they will be.
I have dedicated my life since 1992 to making available the conservative POV. At the risk of shameless self promotion, my web site offers all the news the mainstream media ignores. Stuff from AFA, conservative organizations etc.
The times are such that conservative voices are finally being heard. Just having access to good information is how I try to stem the tide.
Didn't mean to go on so. Guess you can tell I feel very strongly about this stuff
