The following is a petition Supporting the Contract with Conservatives

The Contract with Conservatives is that pledge. It is a pledge to uphold the major conservative ideals that have been pushed aside over the past decade.

We, the undersigned, will support our presidential nominee and other candidates for high office, only if they uphold the Contract with Conservatives.

It is time to get back to basics. The conservative base will work for candidates who pledge to uphold conservative values.

There is an area on the pledge where you can forward/email the pledge to others.  If the link doesn't work, please cut and paste

If the Texas Twit considers the Constitution "Nothing but a damn piece of paper" do you think any of the elected crud will honor your petition?

If you want to accomplish something tell "Amnesty" McCain that conservatives will not support him unless he shows us that "He has seen the light" and gets the fence built on the Southern border before the election.

Right, jmac1943: “Bush Justice Department: What Constitution?” by Larry Pratt, The Conservative Voice.  http://www.theconservativevoice.com/article/30750.html

You want true conservative change? Do you really? Do you have what it takes?

If so, then take the pledge to Renew America at http://www.alankeyes.com/pledge.php

When asked by Seattle radio host Thor Tolo if he could have publicly supported the departed Romney, the former Reagan administration diplomat said,

"Well, no. I've made it very clear with respect to Rudy Giuliani, with respect to Mitt Romney, and others, that I'm not buying into this whole phony business that's been going on. I think that these candidates were reinventing themselves when what they said contradicted their records. The same is happening with John McCain. There's not a single constituency of true conservatives that doesn't have one of John McCain's knives stickin' out of our backs."

Regarding McCain and Huckabee, Keyes said he couldn't support either candidate without abandoning his conservative principles. . .

"So, I find it entirely implausible that good hearted and good conscienced conservatives are suddenly going to forget that whole record, which in point of fact means that [McCain's] been moving in a direction indistinguishable from Hillary Clinton. The only difference will be the label," Keyes suggested. http://www.alankeyes.com/articles/080211tolo.php

Great post regarding Dr. Keyes...I've always liked him.  In fact I supported him last time he ran.

I have also signed Dr. Keyes Pledge.

I posted this information yesterday for people on here and elsewhere to sign. This contract/petition is not affiliated with the Republican Party/GOP.  It is a separate entity handled from the site GOPUSA.  The information gathered is being presented to the Republican establishment as a wake up call to do something NOW.

You can go to this link (please cut and paste if it doesn't work) scroll down to the middle of the page and click on Sign the Contract with Conservatives.

The Contract with Conservatives -- GOPUSA's effort to show Sen. McCain and other Republican leaders that our support will not be taken for granted -- is off to a great start. So far, thousands of grassroots conservatives have signed the petition saying they will vote Republican in November only if the Republican presidential nominee pledges to return to core conservative principles.

Readers from across the country have commented on the Contract, and I'd like to share some of those comments with you today. The excitement for the Contract is clear, but there is also doubt that Republicans will return to their roots. This is understandable, and it is also the reason that we need to spread the word about the Contract, so the Republican establishment will know beyond a shadow of a doubt that conservative support will only come if Republicans support the Contract with Conservatives.

eat start. So far, thousands of grassroots conservatives have signed the petition saying they will vote Republican in November only if the Republican presidential nominee pledges to return to core conservative principles.

"We, the undersigned, will support our presidential nominee and other candidates for high office, only if they uphold the Contract with Conservatives."

My problem with that is that it is not going to happen. Even if McCain paid lipservice, it's not comprehensive enough to keep him from wiggling out of it. The party platform already holds to those points!!!! How many contracts and other paper daggers are needed before we wake up!

I agree with Alan Keyes' 13 points to Renew America, and that is the pledge I am standing behind even if the Republican Party continues to black list Alan and he has to run as a third party!

I don't mind signing, but I think it's pointless.  McCain already knows how conservatives feel, and he'll only care as long as he has to court them for votes.  IF he gets in the Whitehouse, which looks impossible based on the DEM turnouts for the primaries vs. the Republicans, he'll do what he damn well pleases, pledge or no pledge.  He's proven that time and again!

the GOP base of voters continues to dwindle. . . I just wish that instead of staying home they would support someone like Alan Keyes or a third party. I think it makes a better statement and maybe then more of the core base would stop being so afraid to support true conservative candidates rather than following the herd off the cliff!

More B.S from the G.O.P.   Waiving the carrot on a stick in front of our faces again.  There was a petition like this going around over a year ago, but the GOP didn't care then.  Only after Juan McCain sewed everything up, they put this "front" of a petition out, to cover their asses with the base.  Today I heard Bob Barr is running for president on the Libertarian ticket.  He was a freshman republican from Georgia in the 1994 sweep, during the contract with America.  Pending the Constitution Party's candidate, I would say Barr has my vote.  He is much more conservative then Juan McCain will ever be.  Go ahead, tell me I am wasting my vote, I don't care, at least I won't be plugging my nose when I vote.

Wouldn't it be a hoot if were Keyes vs.  Obama?  The race card would be out for sure, and it would be back to issues, values and other important stuff.

More B.S from the G.O.P.

Again, this organization is not the GOP or the RNC, it is a separate, online activist organization trying to get people to pull together.  Anything is worth a try...

I started this thread for people to investigate and hopefully participate in, and sign the petition.

Number of signatures since just a few days ago is below:

Contract with Conservatives

Immigration Reform

  • Secure America's borders
  • Enforce employment laws
  • No amnesty

The American people have spoken, and the clear message is that immigration reform starts with secure borders. In a post-9/11 world, we should expect nothing less. In addition, the American people do not support amnesty. Candidates must repudiate amnesty and show respect for the American people by showing respect for the law. Illegal aliens should not be given special consideration for citizenship and should not be put ahead of those seeking to come to America legally. Conservatives will work for candidates who pledge to put border security first and who pledge to not put illegal aliens ahead of those seeking citizenship through legal means.

Tax Reform

  • Make President Bush's tax cuts permanent
  • Reduce taxes, both on business and individuals
  • Simplify the tax code by moving to a flat tax or the Fair Tax
  • No favorites -- All tax cuts should be across the board

The tax code must be simplified, and all taxes should be reduced. The tax code should focus on its core function -- a means of raising revenue. The tax code should not be a vehicle for social engineering, and the reduction of taxes should not pit one socio-economic group against another. Conservatives will support candidates who pledge to cut taxes and simplify the tax code, while not engaging in class warfare.

Size and Scope of Federal Government

  • Reduce the size of the federal government
  • Reform entitlement programs
  • Respect states' rights and limit the reach of the federal government as stated in the Constitution
  • Cut spending
  • Support a balanced budget amendment
  • Eliminate earmarks and support stand-alone spending bills

It is not enough for the federal government to only grow by a few percentage points. In the end, it still leads to bigger government. The federal government must SHRINK. The Republican Revolution was built on this core Republican principle, and conservatives will support candidates committed to shrinking the size and scope of the federal government. The pork must go! Earmarks and pork-barrel spending must be eliminated. These practices lead to corruption and are not conservative. The federal government should do only those core jobs enumerated in the Constitution. Other governmental responsibilities should fall to the states. Conservatives will support candidates who pledge to cut spending, shrink government, and eliminate earmarks.

Judges

  • Vigorously nominate and support the confirmation of judges who follow the law, not those who legislate from the bench
  • Wage a real fight against left-wing attempts to block judicial nominees

Nominating a conservative judge simply to let him or her languish without an up-or-down vote is not acceptable. Judicial nominees, who follow the law rather than make new laws from the bench, deserve full and enthusiastic support. Conservatives will support candidates who pledge to nominate strict constructionists and who will not wilt in that support even under left-wing attacks.

Life

  • Respect the rights of the unborn and promote laws which will protect innocent human life
  • Support the overturning of Roe v. Wade
  • Block any efforts to fund or promote embryonic stem cell research

Conservatives believe in a culture of life. This culture must be embraced and advocated by our Republican leaders. Conservatives will support candidates who pledge to promote a culture of life and who work for the overturning of Roe v. Wade. No candidate can say they are "100% pro-life" and also support embryonic stem cell research. This research results in the destruction of innocent human life. Research proves that adult stem cells are as good or better for curing diseases, and thus the use of embryonic stem cells is moot. Conservatives will support candidates who pledge to support life at every stage.

Free Speech

  • Repeal the Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Act
  • Embrace First Amendment rights

The Campaign Finance Reform Act is an assault on free speech and must be repealed. The law resulted in a rise in soft money advocacy through the actions of 527 organizations while other groups were not allowed to exercise their First Amendment rights to support a candidate of their choice. This is wrong. Conservatives will support candidates who pledge to repeal this law and support the free speech rights of all Americans.

There are a total of 12,346 people who have signed this petition.

My mistake,  I thought it was the GOP behind this.  But I do have to ask what is the point of this?  Why not elect people who have lived and voted a certain way, instead of somebody who hasn't and then trying to make them take a pledge.  It makes no sense to me.

The people that are in control of the Republican Party don't care if McCain wins or not. They will not change their position of supporting NAU, Open Borders, NAFTA and other trade agreements, The NAFTA Corridor, Amnesty Outsourcing, and all the rest of the plans to strip this country of our infrastructure and resources.

McCain is being used to prevent any other Republican candidate from running on the Republican ticket that could beat Clinton or OBama. They know that they must get a candidate elected who will do their bidding. What if an honest man got elected and started to dig up all of the schemes, scams and fraud, and the American people really had the evidence about what has been going on for the last 30 years? As long as one of the three evils wins, they are OK with that. They have it all sewed up, if we cannot take back the Republican Party because no other party is established or strong enough to win.

If Alan Keyes were a viable candidate for the GOP, I would have a real problem with him as he stated Michael New (the military man who refused to wear the CHICKEN COLORED BLUE HAT OF THE UN, which is and was against the oath of his pledge of allegience to the United States of America) ... Dr. Keyes said New SHOULD have done as directed by his superior, and that he disobeyed, thus *(I'm paraphrasing) deserved the dishonorable discharge, etc.

Up until that, the man had my interest, for a true conservative in the GOP, but as far as I can deduct, Dr. Keyes did not know what the heck he was talking about and threw Michael New and any other military man or woman under the proverbial bus to flounder in a sea of uncertainty and dispare. On much of his stances, I agree and respect him, but that was way off base and I would not vote for him either now.

DEERHUNTER, WHERE ARE YOU? lol My ship seems to be taking on water and I have lost my rudder as well as paddles. SOMEONE, talk me down from this GOP/Conservative nightmare we have.  Rhonda
