blurry stained glassThe former pastor of a Colorado mega-church who resigned amid a homosexual sex scandal has ended his "spiritual restoration" process.

For the past year, Ted Haggard had counseled with four pastors after he was forced to resign from New Life Church in Colorado Springs. Now, Haggard has asked the team of ministers to end oversight of his recovery program. But officials with New Life Church say the termination of the relationship is premature.

Haggard was fired from the church in November of 2006 after a former male prostitute said he had sexual relations with Haggard at various times over a three-year period. Haggard has since moved to Phoenix and attends Phoenix First Assembly of God.

Tommy Barnett, pastor of Phoenix First Assembly of God, was one of the overseers in the restoration team. He says he will maintain an accountability relationship with Haggard.

New Life Church was the scene of a fatal shooting in December.
