Birmingham's King Day event to spotlight immigration debate 1/20/2008, 12:52 p.m. CST The Associated Press
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — The keynote speaker for the Martin Luther King Unity Breakfast on Monday is a Kansas native and the daughter of Mexican immigrants.
Organizers said they chose Janet Murguia, the president and chief executive officer of the National Council of La Raza, because of her message of unity and her opposition to a resurgence of hate speech in the immigration debate.
It's the first time in more than two decades that the keynote speaker for the Birmingham event is not a white person or a black person.
Isabel Rubio, executive director of the Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama, an affiliate of La Raza, said having Murguia on the program signals a recognition of the growing population of Spanish-speaking people in Alabama and a continuation of King's dream.
Murguia said she intends to speak about common challenges and opportunities for blacks and Hispanics.
"We recognize that the immigration system is broken and it requires a serious debate," she said, "but there's no room in that debate for hate, and we're sensing a wave of hate right now that's not only directed at immigrants, but the Hispanic community."
The 7 a.m. breakfast at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex is sponsored by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Metro Birmingham NAACP, the National Conference for Community and Justice, the Community Affairs Committee of Operation New Birmingham, and Greater Birmingham Ministries. ___
They caused the resentment by committing massive runaway invasion with all its ugly side effects. Now they can just live with the hatred we have for the resulting criminal injustices (only natural)....until we can "work it all out." So this is about 'don't just hate...participate and negotiate?' Oh okay, I got now...geez!

"Had the people, during the Revolution, had a suspicion of any attempt to war against Christianity, that Revolution would have been strangled in its cradle... In this age, there can be no substitute for Christianity... That was the religion of the founders of the republic and they expected it to remain the religion of their descendants." I don't know about you guys but I am getting sick of all of this "Unity" message.
The Black Americans are being "had" by La Raza and the illegals who are stilling their jobs and taking them for lower wages.
These guys really need to WAKE UP!
I met Ted Hayes in CA who is a Republican Black American, his group is called Choose Black America, which is fighting illegal immigration - watch the below video of Ted discussing the issue and reading a letter from Duncan Hunter:
Activist Ted Hayes is right ˜ illegal immigration has lowered wages and pushed African Americans out of the building trades and service jobs that were our opportunity to have the American dream. Illegal immigration has also strained education and healthcare services in distressed communities, disproportionally affecting African Americans.
The illegal immigration agenda is not a civil rights movement. The civil rights movement called for dignity and opportunity for all Americans. African American soldiers died for this country when they were not able to get the benefit at home of full citizenship. African Americans are first and foremost Americans ˜ we are not going back to any other country; our home is here. African Americans have given their hearts and souls to this country ˜ that is what makes you a citizen.

Ted Hayes Refused Right To Assemble
The open border has been especially hard on Black Americans...
...and the working poor in general. Now, they can't even talk about it.
Chooseblackamerica.com was not allowed their 1st Amendment right to assemble and speak freely against the illegal invasion of America.
Ted Hayes, the event organizer, was granted a permit to assemble in Leimert Park but that didn’t happen. Instead the LAPD gave the park to illegal aliens and their anarchist and Communist supporters. The LAPD pushed American citizens up on the sidewalk, roped them off in yellow police tape, and refused to let them have access to the park.
The LAPD stated that they could not control the illegal aliens or their anarchist supporters. The Communists from ANSWER were threatening violence. Citing safety concerns, the police would not allow American citizens to assemble in the park despite their city issued permit.
After hours of playing negotiation games with the LAPD, Ted Hayes and four other Americans were arrested.
The Phenomenon of Political Persecution on Black Republicans by Democrats
(By: Ted Hayes, Homeless Activist)
The United States of America has it's men and women in Afghanistan and Iraq fighting, killing and being killed in the name of freedom which will, among other things, empower people with the right to express themselves without fear of retaliatory consequences from dictators, institutes of learning, vigilantes, employers, property owners or any such individuals.
Yet, there is a segment of American society that chooses not to accept this fundamental freedom. They use a mix of racial manipulations against American Blacks who choose to become part of an opposing political party. One such example of this manipulation is the use of vicious public attacks, especially against prominent Blacks actively participating in the Republican Party.
When a Black Democrat discovers that a fellow Black citizen is indeed Republican, they launch derogatory slurs at them, such as: Uncle Tom; sell-out; idiot, Oreo. It is as though being a Black Republican is anathema!
Some, as in the case of the Honorable Lt. Governor of Maryland, Michael Steele who is a candidate for his State US Senatorial seat, Blacks have shamefully hurled Oreo cookies at him in an attempt to say that he is "Black" (whatever that means) on the outside, but "White" (whatever that means) on the inside.
White and Black Democrats seem to encourage each other to denigrate Blacks who are Republicans without hearing their political beliefs as to whether they are valid or not.
Democrats have verbally attacked wonderful Americans such as: US Supreme Court Justice, Clarence Thomas; Ward Connally, Colin Powell, Dr. Condolezza Rice and others who choose to stand up for this country and serve as politicians, statesmen and judges.
It is my opinion that most Black people in the United States are politically and philosophically conservative. Many choose to be "closet" Republicans for fear of persecution from their friends, business or work associates, society clubs, school mates, and even churches, etc.
They are in favor of a strong family, (unless they are on welfare), a strong military, (they more than any 7th generation people of this country know what it is like to live under the whip of tyranny), and finally a strong desire to create their own destiny guided by the equality of the rule of law.
The fear of these "closet" Black Republicans and conservatives is justified when you consider the persecution that they would suffer should they be "found out" or "outed". It is a reverse McCarthyism as perceived by the liberal rewriting of history.
I am calling on my fellow Black Americans to have a dialogue with ourselves on this phenomenon of Democrats persecuting Black Republicans.
We must ask questions such as, "Why is it, that Blacks can politically embrace any other party affiliation, except Republican? Though a Black person such as I can be lauded for my work with the homelessness, yet, I am consistently asked, "But why must you be a Republican."?
My answer is because 40 years of the Democrat's welfare state has not worked as evidenced by Katrina as well as the worshiping the murderous gangster Tookie Williams by our so called Black Leadership.
When Dr. Condoleezza Rice was nominated by President George W. Bush for Secretary of State several White individuals who consider themselves "liberal" Democrats looking out for Blacks, launched into a tirade of hurtful verbal abuse against her!
They were attempting to discredit Dr. Rice's character by calling this great American woman names like "Aunt Jemima" on radio talk shows, and by journalistic artist drawings of denigrating cartoons of her in national news publications and on the internet.
They blatantly used hurtful words against Dr, Rice, a Jim Crow survivor, someone to whom all girls and women should admire and aspire to. She is the highest ranking woman, and according to the President of the United States, "The Face of America."
What was revealing about the abuse of Dr. Rice is that the American Black Leadership, such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who normally would have had the head of any non-Black for the slightest racist attack upon one of their own, especially a black female Democrat, not only stood idly by but actually encouraged it.
Clearly, it is because Dr. Rice is not a Democrat, but rather a Republican. If the then National Security Advisor had been a Democrat instead of Republican, those Whites would have had hell to pay from the African Americans. The "so called Black Leadership" behavior is the height of hypocrisy!
What is the cause of this phenomenon of Democrats persecuting Republican Blacks? What is it that the Democrats don't want Black folks to understand about Republicans? What is it that the Democrats don't want American Blacks to know about Democrats? There seems to be so sort of cover up going on.
Even homeless people are punished for their political persuasion to Republicanism.
Case in point! I happen to be the founder and director of the most unique, progressive and innovative homeless facility in the United States known as the Dome Village located in downtown Los Angeles, only 2 blocks from the World renown Staples Center.
The Dome Village with its 35 residents of homeless men, women, children and American Veterans along with their animal pets are being "evicted" from the privately owned property.
Apparently, the reason for the sudden eviction by the landlord is due to my political beliefs and activities.
You see, though I am America's leading homeless activist, roles that usually have been reserved for liberals, I am "a conservative" Republican and an avid member of the GOP and strong supporter of President Bush, particularly his foreign and middle east policies (Afghanistan / Iraq).
Recently, I was invited to address the Bel Air Republican Women's Club. After the landlord read an article in the Los Angeles Times about my visit with these wonderful ladies, he immediately raised the rent from $2,500 to $18,330 a month. In essence an eviction notice.
I called the landlord asking about the seriousness of his notice, his reply was shocking. In his blind rage, he blurted that the cause of the "eviction" was that I am a Republican.
Along with several other nasty remarks about my political affiliation, he said that as a Democrat, he was tired of helping the Dome Village, and went on to say that if I was such a Republican and the Republicans care so much about me, let them help the homeless.
He is punishing homeless peoples simply for my expressed political beliefs. We have all been preached to by Democrats that theirs is the political party of compassion and tolerance. Right!
I have no contention with the landlord over his need for the land to sell or develop, or not. That is no concern of mine. It is my emphatic belief that the rights of private property owners are to be protected. I will defend and support him on that matter without question.
I will not seek to divest him of his property. In fact, though I could tie him up in court, I will not do such a dishonorable thing.
Had he simply said to me that he wanted his property back for whatever reason, of course, I would have said "absolutely" without hesitation, because that was our agreement 12 years ago.
However, he foolishly allowed his political prejudice and disdain for Republicans to drive him to enough madness to say the unspeakable, "Because you are Republican."
It appears to me these Republican hating Democrats have a special disgust for Blacks who choose be Republican. This phenomenon of Republican hating Democrats having a special disgust for Black Republicans is growing throughout the Democratic Party and needs to be stopped, it is un-American. They are condoning interracial philosophical prejudice – blacks hating blacks because of ideas. It's almost as bad as the current scourge of interracial lynching where blacks are killing blacks in the gang wars.
Finally, I find it very telling also, that similar sentiments that are expressed towards and about American Black Republicans by Democrats is done to other minorities as well, such as Latinos (Bronze peoples), and Jews.
It is my intent to raise the discussion of political bigotry in the hope that the Democratic Party will practice at home what America is promoting abroad, which is the right to the freedom of political affiliation without fear of retaliation.
