Tancredo for head of Homeland Security -- Hunter for Sec. of Defense!
TEXAN...NO - I WON'T FORGET THE ALAMO! "Where's the Fence???" RINO huntin' season started January 10th (but ended January 22nd)! FRED has left the building!!!! MITT has entered my world! Oops, MITT left my world too soon also (on February 7th)! Dang, can't catch a break -- but Hillary, Obama, and McCain aren't it either (nor Huckabee, Paul, Keyes, Nader, ad nauseum)!
This is a shame if he is definitely dropping out. I hoped he would stay the distance as I already voted for him in my early primary balloting.
I do hope he will be assigned some kind of post in a Republican administration along with Tom Tancredo. It is a sad thought that their patriotisim, loyalty and abilities would be forgotton or ignored.
Congressman Duncan Hunter returns to San Diego tonight, Saturday January 19, 2008 Media Opportunity at 8:00 PM (PST) Broadway Pier at the end of Broadway St, San Diego
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 19, 2008
CONTACT: Gary Becks (619) 334-1655, garybecks@yahoo.com San Diego, Calif.
We started this campaign a year ago right here, in San Diego Harbor, against the backdrop of American Naval power. We launched a campaign emphasizing a strong national defense, enforceable borders and restoring the industrial base of America. Today we end this campaign. The Nevada caucuses reflecting only 2% of the vote for me. I ran the campaign exactly the way I wanted to, and at this point not being able to gain traction in conservative states of Nevada and South Carolina, it's time to allow our volunteers and supporters to focus on the campaigns that remain viable.
It's time for me to gear up for 2008's defense bill that will be put together over the coming weeks. There is work to be done in the areas of troop protection and new capabilities to be deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. And over the horizon, the emergence of Communist China as a military super power will require a new emphasis on U.S. capabilities in undersea warfare, space, and long range air-power.
The best way to maintain a new era of peace is for the U.S. to remain strong. Over the coming year I will endeavor to help craft a defense bill that meets the new security challenges.
Since our campaign began over 200,000 additional manufacturing jobs have been lost. 1.8 million jobs have left the U.S. for China. This fracturing of the U.S. industrial base is a long term threat to America. I hope that the remaining candidates will recognize it and address it. As the senior Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, I will seek to address it.
Only hours ago a border patrolman was killed in the California Desert. This tragedy emphasizes more than ever the compelling case for the completion of the border fence. Since I wrote the bill that mandates 854 miles of double border fence only a few miles have been constructed. Over the next year in Congress I will do everything in my power to get that fence built.
Finally, for Lynn and me, the campaign over the last year has shown us this: America is a wonderful country. Our people have great character and goodness, and the meeting of new friends has enriched our lives.
The failure of our campaign to gain traction is mine and mine alone. But we have driven the issues of national security, the border fence, the emergence of China and the need to reverse bad trade policy. Because of that, this campaign has been very worthwhile, and for the Hunter family, a lot of fun.
To our friends and supporters and volunteers: many thanks. And now it's time for me to focus on developing a 2008 defense bill that serves our troops and our nation.
Thanks, and God Bless America.
Duncan Hunter

Well that is too bad. I do know he gets 2 votes from this household in the California primary. Sent in the Absentee ballots tuesday last. Bummer, now I have no candidate.
When Tancredo dropped out, Hunter was kicked off the stage and not allowed to participate in further debates. I do not have any answers or solutions. The elite is fully in control and has hedged everything. And nothing will shock me in terms of what could occur as a result of many Americans realizing that representative democracy seems to be an illusion and a powerful oligarchy in control of public opinion seems to be the reality. I feel like I am a character in an Orwell or Kafka novel. If there is hope, it lies with us.
JROESSLER- if people dont know enough about the candidates now, even the ones that the media likes- exzample-. McCain is not a republican, how are you going to educate everyone on Duncan Hunter in 10 months, Look I like him too, it just can not be done, I really wish it could but it can not be done, not this time around. If your on this site because of illegal immigration and your a republican, than I think the best chance right now is to support Mitt Romney.I dont want to fight with anyone on here, I'm just very scared for what may be comming down the road.
Agree marcy! Hillary, Obama, McCain, Huckabee -- not a nickel's worth of difference!

I, also, am fearful for our country's future! John - I think we here at fs realize it's going to be up to us, but we are running out of options (in the field of candidates) Any ideas? Many of us posting are Tancredo and Hunter supporters! I emailed Tom again the other day and asked if he'd consider rejoining the race - in light of McCain's surging support, etc.
This is our country, take it back! (Thank you Tom Tancredo!) Press 1 for English; Press 2 to deport all illegal immigrants!
Ditto Marcy. That's why I took Tom's best advice and went with Romney. I sure hope Tom is on one of the news channels this weekend, as I'd love to hear his take on McCain's win. Needless to say, I miss the Tanc!
