A new study states that of 19 industrialized nations, the U.S. is last in preventable deaths before age 75.  So, is our healthcare system that bad?  No.  The story doesn't take into account the massive number of illegals we have here in this country.

The Center for Immigration Studies found that 65% of illegals have no health insurance compared to only 13% of legal citizens (not really such a crisis of people without insurance when you look at that info).

And, to quote from the article,

Why did the U.S. lag in avoiding preventable deaths? The study doesn't answer that question. But the slow decline in U.S. preventable deaths "has coincided with an increase in the uninsured population," write the researchers.

Lags?   Last place is not lagging.  It's criminal.  It's immoral.  It's unChristian.  Lags?

I agree, SuperPatriot.  But, if you take into account that this is largely due to the number of uninsured and there are millions of illegals who are uninsured and overburdening our healthcare system, it's understandable.  Those 13% of legal residents who are uninsured could be better taken care of if we weren't wasting so many of our recources on the illegals.

Blame it on low gasoline prices!  We drive more than anybody else because historically we have been able to afford it.  Now we have all these non-English speaking immigrants on the road without licenses or insurance driving old unsafe beaters.  They are probably drunk, stoned or tired from working too many jobs and sleeping too many in the same house and they are far more likely to have too many people in the car when they get in a wreck.  (That is the racist paulista in me coming out, sorry.)

So let's make the enviormentalists happy and get rid of cars.  There's the ticket!

I personally don't think the problem is the lack of free healthcare.  I think that's socialistic communism.  What I do think is the government is STEALING yes STEALING our money and not leaving us enough to pay for the things we are paying for.  That's why I'm for a flat tax myself.  Did I mention UnCivilized?
