Folks, it's obvious from the way the elections are going so far that most people either don't really believe that illegal immigration is a problem as they say they do, don't believe the steps we support here are necessary because they haven't been affected yet, or are simply uninformed. We're preaching to the choir here.
We need to get the message out. We need to assume most people know nothing about this issue. We need to educate them in the simplest of terms. As someone pointed out recently, half the people in the U.S. have an IQ less than 100 by definition. We need to communicate in the simplest of terms. I don't mean that as a slam against anyone, just a fact.
We need to start at the beginning. Tell people the cost of illegal immigration to them every year or break it down by the month so they can relate it better to their monthly paycheck. We need to tell them how many hospitals have closed and how many people now have to go hundreds of miles to reach a hospital. Tell them how many cases of drug resistant TB have come across the border in recent years. Tell them how schools are overcrowded. Tell them the problem is mostly in the border states now but is quickly heading their way. Let them know amnesty has been done before and does not work. Get some quotes from people on this site who have been directly affected. How about a quote from foxglove, who lost her son because an illegal didn't know what kind of hardward to hang a wall with? How about from people who run legit businesses that are now failing because of illegals? The list goes on.
Does someone have the ability to make a youtube video? It should be simple, direct, and to the point. It could provide a link at the end to a simple website that is easy to read and straightforward. The immigration scorecard, I found, was too confusing to most people when I directed them there from forums. I have some ideas on the website to make, but don't know how to create one.
We need to get a list of forums and blogs that people in the upcoming Super Tuesday elections visit and get involved in discussions and link to the youtube video if we can get one done. Of course, a TV ad would be best but who has the money for that?
If we all act together on this, we can get the word out and it might not be too late.

I don't know where you've been since 1986, but obviously not here in the U.S. of A. Illegals were given amnesty in 1986, as Congress put it, for a one time thing only. This was allowed to happen because the American people refused to stand up and say NO to this. That opened the flood gates and now those gates cannot be closed because of the masses coming in through them. And now our beloved President and Congress want to give amnesty to the countless millions more illegals that are here because they say it is impossible to send them all back. Flooding in stage 2 level.
Our so called leaders no longer work for us, they work for the illegal coming across the border. If you live in a city that has more than 50% illegals, then you know what I'm talking about. Our so called law enforcement protects these people even though they are breaking our laws and continue to do so day after day. These people do not want to be citizens of the U.S. They never have and never will. Why would they? Look at the benefit of being an illegal in this country as opposed to becoming a citizen. They are sending countless billions of dollars back to their country, mostly Mexico, and these American dollars are being circulated through Mexico and helping their economy and hurting ours.
The problem is not with the President and Congress, the problem is with the citizens of this country. We sit idley by day by day and allow our government to take away our rights and freedoms and will not stand up as a group and say enough is enough. We don't want to get involved. Every American citizen already knows illegal immigration is a huge problem. This has become a war. Until we start treating it as one, we will be overrun completely by this tidal wave of illegals. Make a stand people. If you are not already armed, I would suggest you do so now. And keep the powder dry. Sir Winston Churchill once said "The best way for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing". That is why this cancer is spreading because we are doing nothing.
AK-Man, why so rude? I've been in the U.S. all my life. Maybe you didn't notice, but I've been a member here since just about the beginning. I am well informed as is everyone else on the forum. The problem is that most of the country is not. The results of the recent elections prove that. If you're not interested in what I wrote, just ignore it. I was looking for help or advice, not criticism.

ConcernedMom, one thing you have to remember is that the American electorate often has a very short memory. They want things to be easy, simple, black and white and no shades of gray. A candidate is good, or bad, no in between. A candidate is good now, or he's bad now. There is no recalling, "well, 10 months ago he....blah blah blah." I suppose some would call that "a forgiving nature", I don't. While people were riled up last spring and summer over the shamnesty bill, it's in the past now to most of them. Unless an issue is in their face everyday, they go on with their lives and onto other things. Trouble is, right now, the media is more focused on "candidates", not "issues" and unless and until such time as another shamnesty bill comes up on congress, I don't see them making an issue of illegal immigration.

I remember when I was in the fourth grade and we were electing a class president. The boys nominated about two of them and made sure that ten or so of the most popular girls were nominated and then voted to close the nominations. The girls wondered why the guy won--Duh. Does that remind you of anything? It seems obvious that the dems will have O'bama or Hill as THE candidate. I'm hearing it's going to be McCain or Huckabee for the repubs as Romney is sliding downward. And we are all still trying to get our favorites in--Fred, Hunter, Paul. In the meanwhile the dems are getting stronger and with more riches to campaign. I'm seeing the handwriting on the wall and I don't like what I see!
I wouldn't give up hope yet, Nancy. IF the nominee is Hillary, it really doesn't matter who the GOP nominee is. They can use the baggage she has against her. She can't scream, "you're picking on a girl" because the minute she does, she can be hit with the majority of world leaders are men and she better learn how to play in the pros with the big boys or get out. World leaders won't succumb to her whining and crocodile tears. I think she is beatable by ANY GOP candidate. If the nominee is Obama, he can be hit with his inexperience in EVERYTHING! The question with him is, will his "charisma" carry him in spite of it.

Concerned Mom and AKMan, you both make very valid points. Most people in my area of the planet do not have a clue as they listen to MSM or nothing at all. I have had a number of 'get togethers' in my home and it is an educational process. Any one crisis our country faces is of grave concern, but the question is asked, 'how did we get here'???? I start with the EU and the parrallels to the NAU and who is behind it. From there, how the CFR and their members are basically evil. The 1986 amnesty. The outnumbering of Congress and their staffs by lobbyists two to one. Dumbing down our kids, etc., etc. That's just to set up the crisis we now face by illegal aliens.
I use quotes from Lou Dobbs books, War on the Middle Class and Independents Day. Dr. Corsi's Late Great USA has valuable information, and Tom Tancredo's In Mortal Danger. There are Dobbs (and other) videos on youtube that I have downloaded and show on my TV. There is tons of information out there, it's just no one knows or they just don't care.
I ask people to share the information with their circle of influence, which is usually about 30 people. I had to start very small due to time and resources, but interest has been growing. Too many folks believe what they see in regular news or hear a politician say. Many are very naive in thinking our elected officials have the best interest of the American people at heart.
Finally, many of us at FS are of the same mindset, but there is still great information that is posted daily about the illegal invasion and other issues. That's why I check everyday!

I like it . come together for a common cause with out voilence . Perhaps with
some of the fine writers on FS and Steve Elliots help something could be done. My
thought is simply, direct and cheap with good exposure.
A conservative Blog is written and a couple ads are bought on say "Newegg,
Amazon etc .Anything long as they a lot of hits . The "Ads" would direct the
peeps to a FS server to read the blog and introduce them to FS at the same
time . I have no idea the volume the FS servers can handle so ?
I can blame this on "Concernedmom" . She got me thinking today , i guess.
Steve also asked for ideas on another post so , there it is
Fred Thompson 2008
Nam Vet 1967/1970 , 29 months there 4 a group of war profiteers . Skull & Bones can KMA
Thanks, tenc57. Also, you should "blame" Steve. I read what he said last night and woke up with this idea.
Does anybody know how to create a PowerPoint presentation and put it on youtube? I don't have any of that kind of software.
Also, any ideas as to what stats would be best? Which webpages to link to? Remember, it should be simple and right to the point. I think most of the people who have remained ignorant just don't want to take a lot of time to read extensive, in depth info. I mean, the immigration scorecard was too much for many of them.
Share your ideas. We could get this done in a day or two and start using the link in emails, sig lines, etc.

ConcernedMom; I think one of the best stats, I know it sure shocked me, is the article on the cost of illegal immigration in Los Angles for the month of November. If it shocked me, who is informed, imagine what it will do for those who so far are oblivious.
Mammaw, that's definitely a good stat to show people, thanks.
speakengl, there's apparently a software online that lets you convert a power point presentation to the proper file format. I don't know much about it, though.
Maybe the best thing to do would be as tenc57 suggested and have a blog to direct people to. It could be very focused in subject matter--just easy and simple to read posts that do not go into too much depth. Links could be put in the posts for those few who find it that want to read more. Let me check into it. If all of you could contribute to it a little bit, that would be great.

I have PowerPoint and the best site for stats (real time) is this site:
what is your general idea for the powerpoint? Just compile the sites where ALL can peruse the information on the most pressing issues? We could also use it for a type of advertisement for grassfire.org AND FS to boost our membership numbers. Remember too....we will need to "vote out" all of the people who SUPPORTED S 1369 over the next few years.
Great posts by all......
"I have wondered at times what the Ten Commandments would have looked like if Moses had run them through the US Congress." Ronald Reagan "Evil is powerless when the good are unafraid." Ronald Reagan
My general idea is to make it short and simple. There are many good stats and articles around, but I really think many people don't want to spend that much time or effort digesting them. Sad, but probably true.
The powerpoint should be a series of short slides with minimal information.
Something like, Illegal immigration hurts all of us. If you have not been affected yet, you will be.
Some stats about how much illegals cost everyone in taxpayer funded programs. How many hospitals have closed. How many come here illegally every month. The problem is getting worse. Amnesty failed before and will fail again. Some simple information on which candidates have the best records. Each slide could have links for people to get more information if they want, but minimal reading involved on each slide.
Include information on each slide as to why those numbers matter. Most people aren't informed enough to connect the dots. For example, this is how much more money you pay in taxes to support this. What would you do if you had to drive hours to the nearest hospital because your local hospital had to close? Thousands of cases of drug resistant TB have come across the border in recent years. What if your child is in a crowded classroom with on of those people? Stuff like that.
I don't think it needs to be very long in length.
What do you think?

I think your ideas are great, do you want to tackle crime rates too?American citizens injured or killed by people here illegally, also the other programs in schools being cut due to the wave of children here illegally taking resourses away from school children of legal residents.let me know about you tube, my son has posted on there, hes really good with the computer, unlike me!

I think that's a great start too...you might want to include one slide showing the "sentiments" of groups like LaRaza who have openly admitted they wish to take back land from the US and will do it by "occupying" our own land (which they are currently doing out west)...this in itself is a SCARY idea if you are an American....who wants to see their country taken over by illegals, M13 and terrorists?!
Describe with stats (briefly) the financial burden their presence has on our hospitals, schools and social services that WE THE PEOPLE pay out of our own pockets. People tend to pay attention if they know it will come out of THEIR pocket....

You can have hot links in powerpoint to refer to various sites. You should make sure there is enough graphic and visual interest (actual photos, cartoons, etc) to keep people's attentions.

People like pictures, and videos, What do you think about having some sort of American flag and a way to convey patriotism. Did anyone see that video awhile back where someone was trying to burn an american flag at a ball game and one of the players ran in and grabed the flag? I know thats too long and not really what your looking for here, but maybe something that reminds people this is their Country that they love and its being stripped from them.
A little patriotism would be a good thing. Also, there are victims on this forum we could ask for quotes and pictures.
Thanks for all the ideas. I like what we have.
An intro slide: it could happen to you
Slide 2: easy info about how much illegals cost you
Slide 3: info on La Raza and Aztlan(or however it's spelled)
Slide 4: Burden to schools
Slide 5: Burden to hospitals
Slide 6: crime, possibly quotes and photos from FS members who have been affected
Slide 7: simple info on candidates records with link to more detailed info
Slide 8: summary: Get involved. Learn about the candidates before you vote.. Links to FS and other sites
I'm not sure of the order of the information in the presentation. What do you guys think is best? Then, whoever has powerpoint and time can get started. We could work up exactly what to say on each slide here so the person making the powerpoint doesn't have to do all that as well. Suggestions for wording and order of info?
