There are a couple of candidates that if they get the nomination will be across the line for me and I'll just have to stay home.
I think illegal immagration is very important.
As is fair tax.
To continue the war on terror.
Stop the NAU, NAFTA and all trade with communist China.
Build up our military, were gonna need it.
Man - woman in marriage.
But they cross the line with me on the issues of abortion and the 2nd Amendment. If I think they are remotely pro abortion or want to violate the "right to keep and bare arms they can pack sand. I'll stay home.
I know these aren't important issues to some but what is important to you?
What will make you stay home?

Staying home is never an option. The establishment wins all the way. I always vote and will vote third party if a true patriot who understands and is committed to all of the issues you state above. I focus mostly on those that are the duty of the President and hold my local reps to state rights issues as more of a priority. My belief is National Security ( Including Border security) and sound Monetary policy ( the Economy, trade agreements, etc.) are without a doubt the highest priority of my choice in a President.
Duncan Hunter will get my vote in the Arizona Primary and we will see if I have to make a choice later on someone else. John McCain on any National ticket will result in a Third Party vote on my part.
I will not vote for John McCain,Huckabee or Guliani-EVER-I will not stay home I will see who third party is. Lets see a nut job or John McCain? Nut job or John McCain? not much differance.

TG
Roger that, TG. I will enthusiastically and proudly vote for Duncan Hunter in the Texas Primary. He's very, very strong here - as he is in Arizona. I think we hardy Western stock need to teach the rest of the country a lesson, don't you? ;)
I am already an Independent, so I feel no particualr loyalty or love for what I consider to be a dessicated Republican Party. I'll vote third party if the Huckster or McCain wins the nomination. Guaranteed. I would not be proud to vote for Giuliani and the only thing that might persuade me is that he's pledged to nominate conservative, Constitutional judges. I don't even believe him all the way, so I won't commit to that.
I'll tell you what though...in my entire life, I've rarely had a chance to cast a vote for someone I really believe in. I started voting in '88 for Bush 41. Straight party ticket. In fact, I've voted straight party ticket my entire life until '04. I did believe in my vote for Bush 43 in 2000, but no longer. He's betrayed that trust, and I'm extremely bitter about it. GW Bush is no Conservative, we know that now. But I voted for Bush again in '04, just barely - by holding my nose.
I'm tried of being forced to settle for damaged goods. Out of 300 million people in this country the best we can do is field the frauds and hucksters - on both sides - we've got running now? Really? That's the best we've got? Because I look at these candidates like they're cheap, crappy Chinese goods on the clearance rack at Wal-Mart. And I haven't set foot in WalChina-Mart in almost seven years - that's how much I hate it.
Pitiful. The entire thing is wretched. Duncan Hunter is the only bright spot in this whole debacle of an election.
I will not stay home. Voting third party may not even be an option, I will have to look at the candidates. If there is no one who suits my fancy I will cast a blank ballot; it is the only way I can say "NONE OF THE ABOVE"
Another reason for not staying home is there will be U.S. CongressCritters on everyone's ballot, 34 states will have Senators on the ballot. There will be state officials and most states will have ballot questions.
Do not stay home on November 4, 2008.

The way it s going it looks like the only real choice is Austrailia. The head man there had the sand to tell the radical muslims to pack up their camels head for another country

CAN'T and never will vote for Billary for sure. McCain's another one I feel that way about. Will wait and see, but I like msbobbie's answer. Can't stay home because State elections make up the local and national congress and senate and we can make a big difference there.
Well, I will never stay home. If McCain wins the Republican nomination I will not for him no matter what. I think some are misguided about illegal immigration? Don't people realize that if we can't secure are own borders then we have lost the war on terror. The war on terror and securing the borders north and sough tie in together. If we don't secure the borders to the north and south you can kiss this country good bye. Muslims blend in very well with Hispanics. So border cities will really get hurt. You know what happen in Pakistani will happen here if we don't secure the borders.
I won't vote for ANY democrat, regardless of which one it ends up being. And I would never vote for Huckabee or Paul. I will vote, however, regardless of who the GOP nominee is.....it's just a matter of will I vote for the GOP or do a write in. My theory has always been, if you don't vote, you have no right to b*tch about who gets in because you've done nothing to stop it. Nothing pisses me off more than to hear someone complain about who is in office (ANY office!) and then hear them say, "I didn't bother to vote!"

There has been so much talk, at least where I live about voters staying home. "Staying home" is really code words for not voting for any of the presidential candidates. Of course I will vote and so will most of the people who claim they'll stay home because of local and state elections. My mistake for not realizing that everyone understood this. However there are candidates that I will not vote for hence the phrase "staying home".I really can't understand why so many people on Firesociety don't like Huckabee. I also Like Duncan Hunter, who is my first choice but just don't see anything happening with him. Huckabee is a social conservative. that trumps any of the others like Romney, McCain, and Rudy. Social conservative carries a lot of weight with me. I don't agree with him on monetary issues and we might disagree on the war on terror. He has changed his stand on illegal immigration where he's close to being on board. I think it's congress more than the prez who you have to watch out for on immigration. Congress can force the issue. As for as "If you don't vote you can't bi**h" is nonsense.I have respect for those who don't violate core principles. If the only candidates that are running are so close together on issues that you stand firmly opposed to, you can't compromise just to benefit a party that has obviously strayed away from you. It's called "Intelligent Choice". Hillary/McCain almost one in the same. If a person studies the candidates and knows where they stand on issues and they both still violate their core principles then one can decide there is nobody they can vote for.And yes they still have a right to bi**h because they are involved in the process.
