I tried to type and post Blake's "TYGER" poem in the "Carlos Taunts Tiger" Forum,  but it came out a mess. How do I start over/erase a post?  Every attempt I made using the "Edit" button made it worse.  Does my problem have anthing to do with the fact I have to use library computers?  "Internet Explorer" is the only application option available here.  I once accidentally made my post HUGE, that was a mistake that happened when I was trying to fix a misspelled word--"egregious." Things look one way on the screen b whenever I try to edit something I've already posted, but they look  different after I hit "Go."

What about highlighting with the mouse and hitting delete?

Alot of times the trouble is that the text is embedded in a table and the table sets the priorities.  What I do is open a text editor such as notepad.  i put the text in the notepad and get it in the proper form you want.  Then you may copy it from the text editor to the thread post.  Try it.

The closest I've come is using the edit button on the blue strip, cutting it all out, and just putting a an x or a . and just start over again.

SuperPatriot has the sure fire way...type a text page...then insert it into the FS threadposter.

Gosh, you all make me feel pretty inadequate!  I just type, hit spell check, and hit go!  I DO notice, once I've hit spell check, I can't go back in, and change ANYTHING after that!  Drives me crazy.  Do we need to post perfect!  I'm so out of here..........<heh>

hahaha.............Not that I've found either Patsy.  I tried using the one up above in my tool bar.  Come to think of it, that may be why once I do the spell check, I can't change anything in the post.  It may actually take me out of it.

You can compose in Word and then copy/paste into the Post New Comment box.  That way you can run spell check and use more fonts, sizes, and colors, too.  To see what a post is going to look like BEFORE hitting GO, click on the little box on the second line to the right of the HTML box.  That's a preview function!  Then if you don't like it, you can adjust & preview until you do.  When you're finally happy with it, hit GO! Assume you're using the Advanced Editor -- you select that by updating for that tool in your profile.

You can also go back in an edit a post after it's posted too!  Just click on the little comment box with the pencil above your post (like I just did) -- note it will then show "updated" and the time on the left of your post!

Personally I don't use a spell checker.  I read what I post and if I am having a hard time with any words I google and if it is spelled wrong google will say did you mean then you click on it and copy then paste.  I do it all the time, I used to spell very good but alot of words look funny to me now.

Yeah, me too.  When you see words spelled wrong so many times, they don't look right when they're right.

Do you just paste in the text from word or do you use the icon paste from word?  If you do and it still shrinks it you can highlite the text and change the font and size etc then press go.

Hey SP, do you think you could get a word in with Sean or Steve about possibly making the FS Forum more compatible with Safari browsers? As it stands now, we can't even paragraph because the server only accepts text characters end to end and allows for only one space between them. Cut and paste even loads all jammed together. I've tried all the editing tools on my end and at the site...looks good when preloaded, then when I hit GO, Bam! all compressed together so economically it's disgusting. This is noticable with other member's posts as well...I can tell who else is using Safari fairly easily. It's pretty hard on the eyes reading a long article that way and of course access to Apple graphics is not facilitated either (to the best of my coding knowlege). Granted other browsers like Foxfire and Explorer allow for a little more editing flexiblity, but unfortunately, their response speeds and screen resolutions have had snag issues on Mac desktops. In short: Safari is the only browser I've found that works efficiently for me. Any help or reference in this matter would sure be appreciated...Thanks :)

THANK YOU EVERYONE! I printed out all of your great suggestions.I can't wait till I know what I'm doing! Ha, ha.  Let me try the Highlight and Delete idea. I'm already doing something I've never done, thanks to Jim from Texas' advice to compose in Word. I didn't know about using that little W inside the square box at the top of the screen in the Toolbar, except to compose letters. WOW! That worked, too! I just deleted something. Once it's posted, though, I'll try and see if I can still delete. That's when my problems usually start multiplying, after something's already done. I found Spellcheck under Tools, nice to know! I can't figure out where to find the text editor or notepad yet. Maybe that's only on Apple computers? Some things you all talk about I am not able to figure out yet. UH OH! Well, I posted and there were lots of % signs and other gibberish.  So I tried to go back to Word and really messed things up.  If this shows up twice and I can't get rid of the weirdness, can someone do the I Dream of Jeanie thing and make it go away?! Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to help me. Here goes.
