With the first results from the Iowa caucus now in, Grassfire.org is conducting this nationwide online straw poll of Grassfire.org team memers to measure where grassroots citizens currently stand with regards to the 2008 Presidential election. No candidate or campaign has authorized or sponsored this survey -- this is an independent survey of grassroots Americans. Survey results in aggregate will be reported to the national media.

(Note: This is Grassfire's fourth Presidential Straw Poll. Once you complete the survey we will provide you with a link to the results from our Spring 2007, September 2007 and December 2007 Straw Polls.)

Agreed, Fred Thompson all the way. We may all have to jump in and do all we can to help. But it will be worth it.

It is my hope that Fred will fair better as he goes forward. What I most want to see is some one stand up and yell "Conservative" so distinctly that it leaves no question in your mind. What is wrong with God and Country Grandma and Apple Pie as we had a few decades ago?

I want some one to stand up for a free American and its autonomy, some one to have more interest in the wel being of our country then in the bipartisian ship of politics. I could care less about bipartisian attitudes becaus it simply means some one has compromised what they stood for. If the standards of polotics to day had been the process with Lincoln we would still have some states that had slavery.

I am not ashamed of America nor am I ashamed of our Chritian Heritage and I am sick of the fact that some one cannot stand up and shout it. Lets have a Presidential race that is so split you have to choose the Socialist or the Conservative but lets not tip toe on the fence.

Of all the non-stop news coverage on the Iowan caucus there seems to no coverage on Fred Thompson.
Why? Has anyone else noticed? I watched last night until about 2 am and  I have had National News on all day today. Except for about 60 seconds on Hannity and Colmes tonight, there has hardly been a mention.
There has been plenty coverage on McCain! Mr amnesty himself...This needs to be brought out somehow.

Why isn't the national media (even including Fox news) giving Fred Thompson the same exposure as they do the top straw poll candidates?  I want to hear more from him, and I fear the media will cause him to loose the nomination.

Have you noticed that many of the top tier candidates called to congratulate Mike "the huckster" Huckabee on his win?  They seem to be wanting the Huckster to drain as many votes as possible from Romney so that they'll be in a better position to win themselves.

Romney is the best candidate by far and the rest fear him.  Fred Thompson is good, as is Duncan Hunter.  I would love to have a Romney/Thompson or Romney/Hunter ticket.  With a pairing like this we could get control of our borders as well as have the exprience to reduce our national debt and reduce taxes and maintain a strong military.

Huckabee is the one of all of the candidates that I would never vote for.  I suppose I want more out of a comander in chief than a pacifist minister that wants to provide a college education to "illegal" immigrants and pardon hardened killers!

Huckabee: 16%; unchanged from two weeks ago and up from 10% two weeks before that.
Sen. John McCain: 14%; vs. 15% and 13% in the previous polls.
Fred Thompson: 14%; vs. 15% and 19% in the previous polls.
Mitt Romney: 14%; vs. 12% in both the previous polls.

I'll vote when the candidate, I WANT to vote FOR, is listed. Dr. Alan Keyes, Rep. Candidate for President '08.

Keyes is good as is Duncan Hunter, but they don't have a chance. It's time to get behind the one consistent conservative who could win, if everyone does their part. That would be Fred T. Go to other blog sites and put in your plug for Fred wherever comments are allowed, just like the Paulnuts do. The mass media sure won't do it- we must.

I see you just joined us today, but surely you didn't just buy a television.  Fred Thompson was on television every day on nearly every network from spring when he began flirting with the public about a possible run.  Now that he has officially announced every time he appears on some program his poll numbers drop.

The national media ignored Tom Tancredo until he dropped out of the campaign, Duncan Hunter gets even less attention.  Ron Paul gets just a little more than those two and you want to complain about Fred Thompson?

If everyone would 'do their part' and get behind Duncan Hunter, he could win.  I can only speak for myself, but I WILL NOT vote for any candidate connected to the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission or the Bilderberg Group, and it is my opinion that anyone who does is voting for a North American Union.

1ST. Fred Thompson'

2nd. Duncan Hunter

3rd. Mitt Romney

4th. Ron Paul.

Would never vote for Mccain after he stood with Kennedy on that awful bill and if elected he would take the same stance.

Clinton / Obama : Both funded by Big Business & Special Interest like La Raza.  And Obama was sworn into to office on the Karan Not the Bible, ( go to Snopes.com, they confirm that.

Huckabee: Per my family in Arkansas:  he pushed Big Government. Higher Taxes and freebees for Illegals.
