No matter which candidate or party comes out "ahead" in all the caucuses and primaries, we still need to get started on a plan to mount actions to remove most if not all incumbents in Congress. The president still has to get his "wishes and wants" through the other branches of government. I know that you will say this has to be the individual states problem. I disagree, the way your Senator or Representative votes, certainly affects the country as a whole. I don't know who (on this site) to contact to see if they can or will start a program. I assume the list of those who voted for amnesty will qualify them for not being re-elected. We could start with something like notifying each targeted candidate that their name has been placed on a list by citizens pledging to actively participate in a campaign to their defeat in the Nov. elections. (not all of them in the Senate are up in 2008).
Maybe there is something on this order already started that I do not know about. If so please let me know.
This is the Cloture Vote for S.1639, which was the substitute when S.1348 failed. A YEA vote on cloture would have likely resulted in a YEA vote for comprehensive immigration reform:
Senators who voted YEA and are facing re election this year are:
Biden, D-DE (Don't know if he will run or not. He is in the POTUS campaign)
Craig, R-ID (I think he has resigned)
Durbin, D-ILL
Graham, R-SC (He is a target but I don't know if anyone has mounted a campaign against him)
Hagel, R-NE (I don't think he is running. Rumors he may join Bloomberg on an Independent)
Kerry, D-MA
Lautenberg, D-NJ
Levin, D-MI
Reed, D-RI

Thirty-three seats are regular elections; the winners will serve six-year terms from January 3, 2009 until January 3, 2015 as members of Senate Class II. There are also two special elections: one in Wyoming and another in Mississippi, but the Mississippi special election date is disputed so the courts will decide if that election will occur in March or in November of 2008[1]; the winners will serve the remainder of terms that expire on January 3, 2013, as members of Senate Class I.The 2008 presidential election, gubernatorial elections, and House of Representatives elections will occur on the same date, as well as many state and local elections. The current composition of the Senate, going into the 2008 election, consists of 49 Republicans, 49 Democrats, and two independents (Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, who both caucus with Democrats). Of the seats up for election in 2008, 23 are held by Republicans and 12 by Democrats. There may be changes to the list of incumbents below if senators die or resign. The date of a death or resignation determines if there will be a special election in 2008, and the rules vary from state to statesenators up for reelection in 2008 - 11-08-2006 , 01:29 PM
not to get ahead of ourselves, but it doesn't look so great in 2008 for the senate. the GOP has quite a few more seats in play than the dems.Quote:
Thanks for your input, it certainly saves a lot of searching time. Now, how do we get the powers that be on NumbersUSA to post an official article, to be used in notifying each candidate and indicates that we have there support? (I'm not stating this very clearly - help!)
If we do get an article, how do we post it to each states site without getting accused of spamming?
I could use some more ideas on this, like a plan......
ONE WAY TO GET THE MESSAGE OUT IS TO E-MAIL PEOPLE YOU KNOW IN OTHER STATES. SOME PEOPLE I HAVE CONTACT WITH HAVE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF FIRE SOCIETY. I LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THIS AND ALSO THE SENATE-REPRESENTIVES UP FOR ELECTION. HOW CAN THAT BE SPAMMING IF YOU KNOW THE FRIENDS AND FAMILY?
