No longer can we remain in denial. A presidential election campaign really is under way, and, try as we might, we cannot avoid, ignore or dismiss it.
As tomorrow begins the actual election year, the time seems right for me to put in my two cents on what I'm looking for in a chief executive. Here follows a partial list.
I want a president who:
Will pardon Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. It also would be a good idea to let drug runners know that if they cross our border with a load of pot they will be shot, rather than granted immunity from prosecution.
Believes in God and that our inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness come from "the Creator."
Will proclaim loudly: "If your children aren't learning, it's your fault." (This would eliminate candidates – and that would be most of them – who believe government is the answer, to education and everything else.)
Will explain – if possible – why the United Nations is worth saving, and why the United States should continue to provide its principal financial support.
Will refute the idea – popular in Congress – that the national debt is no problem as long as it is only a small percentage of the gross domestic product.
Will ask Sen. Harry Reid and Rep. Nancy Pelosi – as Spain's King Juan Carlos asked Venezuela's Hugo Chavez – "Porque no te callas?" ("Why don't you shut up?")
Won't go six years before vetoing a bad bill.
Takes naps.
Recognizes that the War on Terror is an actual war, not an abstraction, as it is regarded by the nation's university faculties.
Doesn't have to depend on speech writers to render a graceful or powerful phrase.
Will hammer home the point that energy independence will come from domestic oil production rather than from recycled french fry grease.
Won't reduce America's "carbon footprint" by bowing to China and other unbridled polluters.
Now and then likes a good, rare steak, flanked by a baked potato with sour cream, chives and maybe even bacon bits.
Has read and understands the Constitution, and takes seriously his oath to protect it and defend it
Will speak out forcefully against governmental assaults on religion, particularly by the ignoramuses who run the public schools.
Will say, "Porque no te callas?" to activists who equate "immigrants" with "illegal aliens."
Will veto thought-crime (also known as hate-crime) legislation.
Will appoint "originalists" to the United States Supreme Court – jurists who won't turn to foreign law for guidance in their decisions.
Is anti-abortion and pro-capital punishment.
Will let the world know the United States will defend the lives and interests of Americans, anywhere on Earth.
Will not surrender American sovereignty to any super-national alliance or other combination of governments.
Will affirm the right of parents to rescue their children from the thought control of public schools.
Won't kowtow to business interests who think exploiting illegal aliens is more important than preserving America's national identity.
Won't use the power of the federal government to intimidate or punish critics. (On the other hand, if you want a president with experience in this regard, vote Clinton.)
Recognizes that an important function of the presidency is to serve as an example of honor and virtue to America's youth. (On the other hand … )
Welcomes legal immigrants and tells them they should be proud of their ethnic heritage – as they assimilate American language, culture and values.
Likes to read history books.
Regardless of his views on the war, will not abandon the Iraqi people to terror and chaos.
Has a sense of humor and a sense of the absurd, both essential for life in the capital city.
Recognizes that the honorific "Mister President" doesn't mean "your majesty."
Is loyal to allies but appoints the most-qualified people to administration jobs.
Doesn't try to speak with phony regional accents.
Doesn't tell racist jokes when "among friends."
Hasn't abused drugs in his youth but always has preferred to see the world as it is, not as it may be seen through chemical filters.
Understands our children will bear the consequences of his policies.
Recognizes the compatibility of science and religion.
Will veto any environmental treaty that puts the United States at an economic disadvantage in international competition.
Will insist that WorldNetDaily's reporting be included in his daily news digest.
That's a start. I will gratefully receive your suggestions, and reasons for, additions or deletions. (Kindly include permission to use your name, if you choose to participate.)
Happy New Year!
I only highlighted some of my favorites in regards to illegal immigration as that is "my issue" and the only issue I am voting on. Living in Southern CA I have learned that once the "illegals" get to be the majority of the people - they then control everything else - example:
Message from California Democratic Party Chairman Art Torres:
The last gasp of white America understand that, and people say to me on the Senate floor, when I was in the Senate - why do you fight so hard for affirmative action programs, and I tell my white colleagues, because you are going to need them.
"We are millions, we just have to survive, we have an aging white America, they are not making babies, they are dying, it is a matter of time, the explosion is in our population"
Mayor Antonio Villaragosia:"It is not enough to elect Latino Leadership, if their supporting legislation that denies the undocumented they don't belong in office friend, they don't belong here"
Mario Obledo (co-founder of MALDEF): California is going to be a Hispanic state and anyone who doesn't like it should leave.
Illegal Alien Welfare Costs Exceed $35 Million
Sunday, 30 September 2007
Total annual cost of illegals on taxpayers exceeds $1 billionLA County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich has announced that a new report shows illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected over $35 million in welfare and food stamp allocations in July.
In the report, illegals are said to have collected nearly $20 million in welfare assistance for July 2007 and an additional $15 million in monthly food stamp allocations for an estimated annual cost of $440 million. “Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact on Los Angeles County taxpayers,”said Antonovich. “In addition to $220 million for public safety and $400 million for healthcare, the $440 million in welfare allocations bring the total cost to County taxpayers that exceeds $1 billion a year -- this does not include the skyrocketing cost of education.”
If you live in a state or city that has 20% or less or even 30% or less of "hispanics" - then realize in CA 14 years ago we were like you are now. We tried to pass Prop 187 because we were feeling the effects of illegal immigration, like you are feeling now. We did pass it into law, but a court held it up and our Governor at the time (Democrat - Gray Davis) made sure it never got out of the court system and that the time restrictions ran out.So today we have "hispanics" all over the State, basically keeping the border open and LA a "sanctuary city". They are more concerned with their "brothers" and making CA a Hispanic state than they are with America's history and culture and constitution. So if you think it isn't that bad - give it 10 years in your town and then Vicente Fox and President Caladeron will be in your State telling you what to do and opening more Mexican Consulates - or perhaps by that time we really will be the NAU.
"I have wondered at times what the Ten Commandments would have looked like if Moses had run them through the US Congress." Ronald Reagan "Evil is powerless when the good are unafraid." Ronald Reagan
CJBL, "Has read and understands the Constitution, and takes seriously his oath to protect it and defend it." YES, YES, YES!! I'm tired of treasonous politicians. I am fearful that whomever we elect, will not follow through on their promises. I don't know who we can trust and it depresses me to no end.
For English, Press One.... For Spanish, MOVE BACK TO MEXICO, and Press Two!!!
Welcomes legal immigrants and tells them they should be proud of their ethnic heritage – as they assimilate American language, culture and values.
I read that and it occured to me that being an American seems to nowdays be more of an "idea" rather than a race of people!! And I wondered how that happened? I mean, we recognize British as being British, French as being French, Mexicans as being Mexican, but for some reason "Americans" seems to be more of an ideal rather than a cohesive bunch of people--I think that melting pot idea has spawned an illegitmate child that belongs to no one, we need to strengthen AMERICAN ideals, what sets us apart from the rest of the world as a race of people. No more melting pot that accepts and makes room for everyone elses holidays (ie Kwanza) or languages or cultures, we have to make it so being AMERICAN is the most important thing first, and maybe their former cultures are more like salt and pepper on the steak rather than the steak itself with being American just the seasoning.
JMO
If you have to hyphenate your race--you are NOT an American!! This from a French-German-English-Irish-AMERICAN! See how silly this can become?
