We support Duncan Hunter because he has the best record on immigration and other issues that concern both social and fiscal conservatives in this presidential race.
With Tancredo dropping out I'll support Hunter which I could have done even with Tom in the race. They both have excellent report cards on immigration. I just hope that if a Republican ends up in the White House that Tom is placed somewhere in an important position. And if a Democrat ends up in the White House we're all in trouble.
Hunter has been polling way behind Tom. He could drop out soon too. Before I commit I have to watch things for awhile. I am heartbroken.

Take your time, You have worked very hard for Tom. I was in big ticket sales for years and am used to marching on quickly after bitter disappointment. I sent money to Duncan Hunter, but only half of what I had intended to send to Tom today.
Thank you Bobbie for offering Duncan Hunter bumper stickers on the official thread. We should start using this or another thread to start talking about Duncan more than in the pst. Most of us wanted Tom, but now we are faced with the reality that Duncan is the only genuine conservative that most of us here can trust.

I worked in sales also. I can turn on a dime when priorities change. This just hit me really hard. I did clean the VOTE TANCREDO messages off my car today (because I don't want people pointing at me and laughing) and I did cover the Tancredo bumper stickers with Hunter stickers.

Don't feel like people would make fun of you. After Pat Buchanan got railroaded by the repub party back in 96 I left my Buchanan bumper sticker on for two years. I wanted people to know exactly what I stood for. I still have a Buchanan yard sign hanging in my garage.
Tom did what he thought was best, just not what his ardent followers thought was best. His message must live on. The MSM really does not want to talk about the illegal invasion so we must keep the pressure on them and use every tool in our arsenal and Tancredo was a lightning rod for the cause. Invoke his name proudly. He was right, just not in sync with the political machine that is destroying our sovereign nation more each election cycle. I admire your efforts and think you should be very proud of the impact you had.
With the MSM still offering up the like of John McCain and Rudy, we must keep behind those who champion the cause. Duncan Hunter would be a Huge improvement over any front running candidate and a a heck of a lot better then either Bush has been in the White House. Let's give him our most vocal support. If we see a better choice with the will to actually move toward securing the border we can consider them later. Right now we are hearing talk and NO action from the front runners. They do not bring up the issue in any detail without being asked, that is a bad sign in my eyes. I need to see clear resolve and not reluctance or sound bites, Duncan Hunter is full of resolve. The media will downplay him as they did Tom but so what. We decide, not the media.
If anyone knows of others please let us know here. We will need to join forces wherever we can and invite others here just like we did with Tom.

What I like best about Hunter is his position on trade. He has been as dogmatic on that as Tom was on border security.
He needs to talk more about the FUTURE and not the past. (length of time on House Armed Services Committee and San Diego fence.

I agree on trade but disagree with you on one point. Duncan should never stop talking about the fence, he is the only one that is still talking about it and he knows fences work and we know fences work and the open borders crowd knows that real fences work so we must not let the fence talk die.
Fences work or they would not put them around prisons or the White House.
Talk from other candidates glossing over the issue a fence and referring to securing the border without insisting on a real physical double fence is a waste of everyone's time. " Virtual" fences stop nothing just like they are intended to.

Thank you, TG. I did not have access to Pat's campaign material in '96, but voted for him in the primary. I voted for him in the Republican Primary in 2000, then switched to Independent so I could sign the petition to get him on the ballot and vote for him in the Reform Party Primary. I was able to attend one fundraiser, but whoever was supposed to bring the bumper stickers didn't but I do have a picture of myself with Pat that is a prized posession.
That year I was covering a sales territory from Jackson Mississippi to Lubbock Texas. I painted his campaign message on the rear window of my mini van and thousands of people saw it every day from May to November.
When I believe in something, I go after it full bore, as I did for Tom.

Oh, NO! I want him to talk about completing the fence across our southern border. It just seems that he talks too much about what he has done and not enough about his vision.
Tom talked about his vision. "I WILL" He did not talk about all of the legislation he worked tirelessly on. Passion is something Tom brought to the campaign that Duncan has lacked.

OK I understand. I hope you get a little rest for the Christmas holiday and a chance to recharge the batteries. It is a tough blow when you put your heart into an effort that really matters to you and the country and you are willing to go the distance whatever it takes and it gets pulled away from you. I know you will continue to be at the front of the fight to save America. I am with you as we warn the casual voters what dangers lie ahead if the do not carefully consider the candidates.
I also have a prized possesion hanging in my office, an 8x10 of Mr Buchanan and myself that was taken at a fund-raiser and he signed it for me at a later stop in Arizona during that 96 campaign. Very cool.
His Arizona campaign chair Karen Johnson is still serving us well in the state legislature to my knowledge.
He impacted a lot of us in Arizona and I will be convinced forever that 1996 super tuesday was a fraud filled event at least in Arizona if not elsewhere. If there ever was a more uncharismatic candidate win a Republican Nomination than Bob Dole, I have no idea who it would be. John McCain is the only one I think that could approach that level of unexciting and annoying at the same time. I hope our recent voter ID law curbs some of the sneaky stuff that happened in the past.
Micheal Reagan used to be on the radio in Phoenix back then and I got to know Duncan Hunter quite well from his talk show. He seems to have been consistent on the important issues and I feel I can trust Duncan and feel he is the best remaining candidate on Trade and insisting on real Border Security as part of a complete National defense program.

I totally agree TG. Also he knows how government works and gets things done. A "this is what needs to be done and do it man."
What needs to be done is for something so dramatic to happen that the 65-70% of the voting aged people in this nation who have not paid attention in the past will wake the hell up.
I know a lot of them are in my generation who feel there is nothing to vote FOR any more and just don't. I would like for them to line up at the polls and cast blank ballots; that is the only way to say "NONE OF THE ABOVE" They need to get involved by attending their local county and precinct meetings.
Most though are 20-40 and they are doing all kinds of things for entertainment when they are not at work. All they know is what they hear in the 30 second sound bytes two or three times a week.

just plain don't payup . the older people need protection , not hassment .
Which the gov is very good at doing now . keeping every body off-balance.
