We all know how important it is to buy American made goods, but sometimes it is very hard to find them. Use this thread to post information on products that are made in America and where you can buy them.

I bought my kids a Big Wheel for Christmas.  It's made in the U.S.A. but can be kind of hard to find.  I guess demand was greater than the supply.  I finally found it at Sportsmansguide for a decent price (instead of $60 each on a place like ebay).

By the way, I prefer to use U.S. or U.S.A. because, technically, Mexico is part of the American continent.

You have to read the fine print on packaging. If it says in lettering 2 inches high made in USA, read the fine print it may say made in USA,Mexico and these are some very large AMERICAN companies purpetuating this deceptive practice. Been going on for years. average wage in USA Mexico is $.25 a day for an average 10 hr day.is it any wonder then that these greedy corporate types want to turn the real US into a third world country While they build their personal estates in other countries

Great Grampa, the Big Wheels I bought only mention made in the U.S.A., whether it's written in English, French, or Spanish on the box.  Where have you seen the Mexico reference?  By the way, really cute picture you have for your icon.

Finding items that are made in the USA are becoming hard to find for many of the commmon items that we use every day. Cheap overseas labor with less restrictions on corporate operations combined with greed are responsible for the fiasco we find ourselves in. The world can now hold us in economic hostage because they have taken advantage of all the help we have given them.

Blame the AMERICAN UNIONS too Commander212..it is because of their own GREED that ALL of these jobs were outsourced to foreign countries. Unions have made it TOO EXPENSIVE to make ANYTHING in the USA. Unions allow some idiot to push a broom and make the same amount of money as someone of much higher intelligence and better work experience. UNIONS reward people who are too stupid to learn a real trade or actually apply themselves at school, they are too lazy...typical LIBERAL point of view- reward the stupid! UNIONS are KILLING OUR COUNTRY!

It's not the Unions, however they too will go the way of the dinosaur, its simply corporate greed. One of the first industries to leave was textiles, they never had a union. Look at the blogs above they can't find toys made in America. What about electronics, clothing, none of them had unions. But your blog is a good way to get things started.

To change the direction of this country, you must change the people who you have entrusted. Do not stand by and let others tell you what is good for your country. Vote these carpet baggers out of office.

A lot do have unions that are now building factories in Mexico as we speak. If we want to save America, we ALSO need to rid ourselves of Unions or hopefully they will go the "way of the Dinosaur" as you so nicely put it Bassin. Many of the companies who have "sub contracted" are now feeling the pain of recalls because China used lead and now their product is destroyed.....can't sell it like that! They have all admitted to sub- contracting because they could not afford American labor BECAUSE OF UNION PAY!

The American consumer is greedy too. We are too materialistic...we are DRIVING DEMAND! Why do we even need all of this crap?  Who needs another stupid "Elmo"?....buy your children books...try giving them something that will BOOST their brain power instead of destroying it.

Taxes and regulations are driving all companies out of the US. I called Williamson-Dickies Friday to complain about the quality of the products made in china which just started about 6 months ago and they said americans will not pay the price for made in america as they had tried to stay here but could not be competitive and stay in business. Hello more cheap crap made in china.

It would help if we could all just cut back on our spending at Wal-Mart. I hate that place anyway, it is like the DMV in there. I will admit that I spend too much time shopping at Target, it seems like it is a step above Wal-Mart, but most of their crap is made in China too.

MrT I've given up Walmart for at least six months.  I agree with you.  It was hard because it's convenient and prices cheap but I didn't want my principles to be cheap.

Mr T...doesn't it make you long for all of the mom and pop stores put out of business years ago by entities like WalMart? We still have one left in our town, and EVERYTHING is made in America....

Makes you want to start your OWN company and call it MADE IN AMERICA! American goods made with American hands chocked full of American pride! Makes me long for the old days.....hand made ornaments (which I still have from over 40 years ago).....

If you want to give something TOTALLY AMERICAN.....give of yourself this Christmas...YOU are made in America! Volunteer at your local homeless shelter or soup kitchen- they always need help on Christmas day. GIVE OF YOURSELF......now THAT'S American!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Yes it does, BiotechBabe. Those mom and pop stores also had personality. If you have seen one Wal-Mart, you have seen them all.

Merry Christmas to you too. Smile

fwiw : i haven't been in a WalMart for a solid year . I've finally talked the wife into going back to Winn-Dixie for grocerys. Some WalMart meats made us sick as a dog . Thank You Walmart for your support , and sucking off our government . I just can't step into a store thats treats employees like they do. And all to buy cheaply made Chinese junk .  Well that makes 2 of us out of 300 million , where on a roll

No one is 100% including Walmart, and anyone that posts here on FS. We all still have stuff that stinks, after all we're all human. You can find many items in Walmart that are made in America, and they also support displaying Merry Christmas, have allowed the Salvation Army Bell Ringers to continue soliciting on their properties, and have donated millions of $'s. Sometimes by accenting or highlighting the positives the negatives will be diminished and hopefully done away with. Wasn't Walmart founded by touting and boasting American made. Let's remind them of that, and praise them for the good that they do, instead of trying to make them out as being all evil.

post edit: So, Be American too.

2nd. post edit:  Maybe a good way to shop Walmart would to be only buy from them what is Made in the USA.
